Edgar Allan Poe

Poe (age 26) obtained a license in 1835 to marry his cousin Virginia Clemm (age 13). They were married for 11 years until her death, which may have inspired some of his writing.

Do you have a favourite poem or short story of the great mans?

The Raven

I would love to write a poem, but no way will it be anything like a Poe.

Gonna do it…lol

This doesn’t really have anything to do with the post from the other day, lol. I guess though, in some ways it does as well.

We ALL know how Trump says things that we know are not true, just like the same with Rowling. You know, at least Trump is honesty with his badness. Like he’s not saying “Oh, I didn’t mean it like” Which Rowling does ALL the time. Just like Trump though, she also acts. How can I explain it. Trump Supporters will always overwhelming say that they want Democracy. However, it’s not actual Democracy, it’s just Trump type Democracy, it’s not true Democracy.

Rowling is kind of the same, in that whatever she says, her cults believes. She’s writing a book that’s about an author, whose criticised online and then get murdered … But she wants us to believe that it has nothing to do with the trans outrage.

How STUPID, does she think we are? That’s the dangerous thing about both Trump and Rowling, they both know that their followers will believe ANYTHING they say. So Rowling says “Oh, it has nothing to do with what’s happening now” Her cult followers will say to us “But she said it had nothing to do with it”

Oh, you just “came up” with that idea all by yourself then?

The reason for my blog though?

When I first saw that news article, I got SO angry. For those who don’t follow the anti-trans ideology, you know, be human. know perfectly well what she’s trying to do. My idea? Too write to bookshops in my state, and not ask them to ban it. That would never happen anyway. Just to consider though, maybe not advertising it *that* much? The book world deserves better than Rowling, it just truly does.

There are so many rumours that she stole a lot of HP from another author. Which is probably why she always “gives in” too fan theories. Dumbledore being gay, never mentioned in her books. That only came about when it became a popular idea. It’s also why I absolutely think she purposely wrote the Goblins working in a bank, so not original.

I will absolutely be polite and I am also going to present it with some facts. I’ve just never done something like this before. I would LOVE some advice, if anyone here has ever done something like that before?

I also only found today that the author who is murdered, is accused of being transphobic.

My Questions

  • If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

JUST DO IT! Just start somewhere…DO IT BECAUSE YOU LOVE IT!

  • What was an early experience where you learned that language has power?

My Grandmother is a Librarian, now retired. When we were younger we use to go and visit her a lot and got involved in a lot of the Libraries children programs. I definitely learnt the power of language there. The power of good story telling.

  • What period of your life do you find you write about most often? (Childhood, adolescence, adult hood, young & golden years)

I write mostly, I think, YA mainly. I write more along, teenagers becoming young adults.

  • What is the most difficult part of writing for you?

I just don’t believe in myself enough. I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t want at least one writing of mine published. Then when I start writing and I feel like it’s silly. I think trying to compare myself to someone like JRR Tolkien does not help myself.

  • What inspired you to start your blog?

If you are a frequent reader of mine you will know that I started my Blog because of a school project. We had to write up about two different social media type platforms that we have never used before. I just enjoyed it so much I’ve just kept it up.

Share your two favorite writing tips and where you got them from.

  • Do not write unless you want too! There is nothing worse than trying to make yourself write. If you’re not feeling it, it’s just not going to happen. This is just a personal tip. Sometimes I feel like (especially if I’m not doing anything) that I should be writing. I always find that I get nowhere and even if I manage to write something, I usually rewrite that bit later.

  • If I’m having a bit of writers block I watch everything and listen to what I consider to be fantasy. I find that this motivates myself. Even if I don’t end up writing, I definitely come up with ideas.

Share two random story/WIP ideas you’ve never shared before (It would be cool to include covers, but you don’t have to) (And also they don’t have to be ideas you’re ever going to turn into anything)

I have actually been kind of working on the two below, it’s be great if they’d turn into something…But we’ll see!

  1. The first one I’ll let you know about is actually supposed to be like a television series. I was inspired by a role playing game I played years and years ago. I was a Sorceress, but we had elves and monsters and all sorts! I’ve been writing it like a cross over Lord of the Rings with the television series withX-Men Evolution. Of course though my character (the Sorceress with the pet Wolf) is the Rogue type character.
I haven’t written anything for it for years though, but every now and then I’ll think of an episode idea.

  2. The other was inspired by a computer game, but I’m writing a novel, that I used to play, also years ago, on a portable PlayStation portable hand player. That is now a huge game on the XBOX 1. It’s supposed to be kind of like I guess YA novel. I would love to publish it, but I don’t think I’m even half way through it.

Tag Five People – I will Tag five people, but if you want to do this one, please feel free!

  1. Musings from a Tangled Mind
  2. This is My Truth Now
  3. From Private to Public
  4. Where Words Daily Come Alive
  5. On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea

My Questions to you:

  1. What is the worst advice someone can give you when you’re in the middle of  writers block?
  2. Do you have a writers “set up”. Similar to a reading nook. Please describe.
  3. What (if anything) do you need to have around you to write?
  4. Are you inspired by other authors/writers? If yes, who and why?
  5. Writing wise, what is the most important lesson/s that you have learnt?

About Open Library

I just found a really amazing site and I wanted to share it with you all, especially those people who are writers and trying to discover ways to get their books out there.

Their goal is to provide a page on the web for every book ever published.

At its heart, Open Library is a catalog. The project began in November 2007 and has been inhaling catalog records from some of the biggest libraries in the world ever since. Open Library’s goal is to list every book — whether in-print or out-of-print, available at a bookstore or a library, scanned or typed in as text.

I wrote a book, and I have it in digital form. Can I make it readable on Open Library?

Yes! It’s a three step process. Here is the short outline and you can read a longer outline on this page.

  1. Create an account and upload your book to the Internet Archive (you will need to set up a second account to do this, you can’t log in with your Open Library credentials).
  2. Create a record for your item on Open Library by clicking the Add A Book link in the header and adding the proper information.
  3. Add the Internet Archive ID to the Open Library record in the ID Numbers section. To do this, click Edit to edit the record, scroll down to the ID Numbers section and add the Internet Archive identifier which is the last part of the URL. As an example for this book, the Internet Archive ID is historiaephilipp02just. Adding this link will activate the “read” buttons. Make sure you click “save” at the bottom of the page when you are done adding the link to the Internet Archive.

For more information on the uploading process, please see this blog post about uploading and metadata.

Games of Thrones

*If you have not seen the Games of Throne episode “Unbowed, Unbent and Unbroken…Spoiler alerts…Also possibly over 18+ content*

So last week (I’ve only just gotten around to watching it) I watched the last episode “Unbowed,Unbent and Unbroken” and this episode has been creating a LOT of controversy, as Games of the Thrones always seems too (yes I’m aware I wrote that title wrong =P).

I noticed with myself though I spent half of it fast forwarding through a lot of the episode.  One of the good things about this episode though was that it did not just focus on just one character and did not focus on one story/plot line. This meant that the stories were pushed along and few needed to be because we had had nothing happen for a while with certain characters and it felt like “Oh, there you are”.

The problem that I am starting to have though with this series is that it’s feeling a little repetitive and yet people continue to be shocked and outrage. The particular scene at the the end was not even in the book. The writers of the show seem to think that there is only one way a woman could ever been given “strength” and that is through having really terrible happen to her and it’s starting to bore me. I was also bored though because I can’t believe that no one didn’t see what Ramsay did, coming? That’s just my opinion on the matter though. I think it was just lazy writing really.

Sir Terry Pratchett…A cherished memory <3

In case you have been living under a rock this week you may have missed that one of the most brilliant writers and minds of our time have passed away….Sir Terry Pratchett.

Terry Pratchett was probably most famous for writing the book series “Discworld” and influenced millions of people and other writers around the world and was awarded an OBE inn 1998.

Unfortunately though a few years ago he was diagnosed with a rare form of early-set Alzheimers. One of the reasons though that I admired him SO much was because instead of hiding away, he faced his diagnosis head on. I watched his documentary series on others who were also battling terminal illnesses and how they were dealing with it “Terry Pratchett: Living With Alzheimer’s”. It was moving and brought up the issues of assisted suicide. It was incredibly moving and I recommend everyone watch it at some point.

R.I.P Terry Pratchett!

Blogging…What’s it all about?

I was linked to a Blog a little while ago and it’s stuck with me for a while, mainly because it started out as a good acknowledgement, but then my Blog was called “Simple and…Stupid”…I don’t think that it was meant with harm or harshness. The word “stupid” though obviously stuck with me and I didn’t know whether or not to say “Thank you”.

It’s stayed with me and ever since then it’s been bothering me and I have been trying to “improve” my Blog ever since. With anything that makes you feel like you need to change when you didn’t think there was a problem before, I couldn’t come up with anything mind blowing or life changing. I have my moments with those things, but I can never force myself to think that well 24/7.

SO I’ve been getting upset, but then I started to think. I don’t need my Blog to be complicated and thought-provoking ALL the time. I don’t mind my Blog seeming “simple” to people. Life is full of enough complications and as much as I want my Blog to feel good to others and uplift people, it doesn’t always have to be the most “complicated” Blog to achieve this. I have a personal journal where I write a lot of my thoughts, come up with sayings and express a dark part of myself.

If you want a Blog with simple thoughts by a girl whose’s just going through life as we all do at our own pace, this is the one for you. I have my complicated thoughts, but I don’t think that’s what I’m here for, others may be, but I am not and I am okay with this. There are plenty of Blogs within WordPress with amazing writers, but never forget the little tiny bits that make up a day either. I think this Blogging site IS like a Library, full of different topics, experiences and types of writers that appeal to different people of different backgrounds.

Just one piece of advice, write your blog for YOU…You wont last with blogging if you are trying to be the next “big thing”. I consider myself to be an “expert”, if you will, with simple things, because I don’t understand making things more complicated than they are. I guess this has been reflecting in my Blog and I am alright with that. Oh! Don’t call another Blog stupid either, no matter the circumstances.
