I have been really struggling to find, at least, anything interesting to blog about today! So what better way to try unblock myself than to talk about Blog Block!
What do you like to do to unblock yourselves? In the writing sense of course! Or creative block!
I like to listen to music, but when I have a block and I determined to write, I have to listen to a certain type of music. Usually it’ll be something Celtic or “mystical” I love Enya. Taking me to another place, even if it’s just in my mind, can really get my creative juices flowing. Some people think it’s weird that because I love to play games, I don’t just play some computer games to unblock myself? It is weird, I don’t use games to unblock my writers block because when I play games, my brain tends to be thinking differently when I play games. I think playing games is a different kind of relaxation. Sometimes it’s not relaxing to play computer games at all, it can be intense!
One of my favourite performers of all time and she is great when I really need my “mind to get away” (if that makes sense) is Enya (you might all know her best from the Lord of the Rings as the singer of “May it Be”. My very favourite of hers though and one I really love to listen to when I am in a particular bind is “Wild Child”.
As I mentioned before it is my birthday today and I can even give you a guess of my age. I’ll give you a guess with a posting from my favourite author “Paulo Coelho”.
There is some great advice in here and being of this age, I can agree that a lot of these have come up for me over the last year. Even the not being in an office job for the rest of my life.
Are you usually late, early, or right on time?
I am on time all the time (unless something unforeseen happens) I cannot abide lateness. I think it is just plain rude, the amount of people I’ve met in my life who are late for social events, but never for work. I think it’s a complete respect thing. Saying that though, if you say anything to them about they get really annoyed with you.
If you were or are a writer do you prefer writing short stories, poems or novels?
I do like to write, but it’s more for personal writing. I do all three really. They are just going to be published and no one shall ever see them! =D
Where did you live at age ten? Is it the same place or town you live now?
I don’t live at the same house now then when I was 10 (did English make my sense?lol) Where I live we have this joke that no matter where you live in my state you will always know someone who knows someone else you know, even though you have never meet each other.
Would you rather be able to fly or breathe under water?
I would rather be able to breathe under water, it’s one of my fears to be drowned alive. Being able to breathe under water would definitely help with that fear, lol
In case you have been living under a rock this week you may have missed that one of the most brilliant writers and minds of our time have passed away….Sir Terry Pratchett.
Terry Pratchett was probably most famous for writing the book series “Discworld” and influenced millions of people and other writers around the world and was awarded an OBE inn 1998.
Unfortunately though a few years ago he was diagnosed with a rare form of early-set Alzheimers. One of the reasons though that I admired him SO much was because instead of hiding away, he faced his diagnosis head on. I watched his documentary series on others who were also battling terminal illnesses and how they were dealing with it “Terry Pratchett: Living With Alzheimer’s”. It was moving and brought up the issues of assisted suicide. It was incredibly moving and I recommend everyone watch it at some point.
R.I.P Terry Pratchett!
George Harrison! What a better way to start a Monday then listening to the beautiful, creative and intelligent music of George Harrison…Apparently (according to the internet anyway) this week is “George Harrison” Tribute week.
George was my favourite Beatles and I always loved his songs the best, even when I didn’t realise he was the one who wrote them! George was definitely underrated as a song writer in the Beatles. One of my favourite songs that he wrote was “Here Comes the Sun” and I cannot even tell you how many time I have listened to that song after a huge disappointment and it makes me feel so much better. George Harrison was such a sweet human being and he worked with so many charities…Please check out George Harrison’s Official Website…
