It begins…

One of the things I asked for and got a lot of for my birthday were writing pads!

I am talking all sizes! Large, medium, little ones that can fit in my bag, and I am already writing in them! Probably of no interest to anyone else, but myself. But who knows what future generations in my family will think! The main reason for me wanting to start writing my thought again. Was because of my Gran.

When we had to put her into the aged care home. We had to go through her house and we found all these writings and thoughts of hers. My Great-Grandfather already had done this and we’ve got some of his writings. It’s a pity that neither of them were able to put them into books. Maybe I can start thinking about it myself!

Just so you know…

You might have heard about the Queen’s Jubilee Writing List. Mainly because transphobes are outraged the Rowling success with HP means she’s the greatest writer ever! She should be on that list.

There are a LOT of writers/authors that I would have expected to be on there, that are not.

  • Terry Pratchett
  • Tolkien
  • C.S. Lewis
  • Agatha Christie

Ten books for each of the seven decades of the Queen’s reign were selected by a panel of librarians, booksellers and literature experts from readers’ recommendations spanning 31 countries.

The Big Jubilee Read includes “brilliant, beautiful and thrilling writing” in novels, anthologies of short stories and poetry published since 1952, said the organisers. They were “shared stories that define our social and cultural heritage”.

Let’s see

So when I went to write this post, I didn’t actually know what to write about. You see, I have a gazillion and one thoughts running through my head. Have you ever tried catching up with your thoughts, when you have a gazillion and one running through there at Superman speed!

I am also one of those people who can do three things and nothing all at once, but that’s a story for another day.

This is why I love blogging and wanting to get back into jotting down my thoughts and writings, when I cannot blog. Blogging, I can write a post like this and you all understand where I am coming from. I can write about all the thoughts that are running through my head, and not be able to write them all down at once, and you will all understand.

Too most people, well those who do not blog. I could write a whole heap of nothing, and they wouldn’t understand, you would all still understand.

Not that I’m saying this blog post is a whole bunch of nothing. It’s actually a lot of something.

Never Write?

I wont get into too much detail about what prompted me to write this post, but I was upset, thinking about something that’s very personal and something I would never actually admit too. The main reason for that though, is because I know people are watching me. Nothing disturbing mind you. Just like, for example. I recently had to delete an Instagram post because I got so infuriated with a comment.

Mental Health condition aren’t a competition and with all the information about what not to say to people with any kind of mental health, there’s no excuse not to know. Unless your Fox news programs fans I suppose. So my post had been about how I was nervous about not being able to cope with the current busy period at work. I’m a casual, so sometimes you may have  a whole week off and my anxiety has been bad lately. Somebody made the comment “Well think about your Mother, she already works full time”. Like f off…I am very well aware that my OWN mother works full time, but what does that have ANYTHING to do with what I was talking about? What, I should shut up about MY fears, because somebody else does it? I deleted the whole post, otherwise I knew that I was going to say something really snarky, like “Oh really? I didn’t MY mother works full time…That’s where she goes all day”

As you can imagine that put me right off.

Letter Writing Day

I’m not even 100% sure that today is an International Day or just national…Somewhere…

However,

I always like to use this day, well the weekend of, this day. Where I write out all my Christmas Cards/Letters and then send them out. This year I bought myself some differently coloured pens, so it’ll make it more fun.

Now…If I could just find the stamps…

Do any of you still write letters?

Some days

Some days, I don’t want to fight with anyone anymore,

Some days, I just want to relax and ignore the whole world,

Some days, I want the solution to be easy.

Some days, I’d do nearly anything to win the lotto … (nearly anything…nearly)

Some days, I could honestly sleep all day and still feel tired.

Some days, I couldn’t fall asleep even if I tried.

Some day, I can’t believe I was so unhappy the day before.

Those days are days where I try to do everything.

Some days, I just want to do everything but I become tired again,

Some days, all I want to do is read, but can’t =/

Some nights, I just want to read all night!

The Writing World Tag

Can I just say a big Thank You to Life Lessons around the dinner table for tagging myself in this…I have absolutely enjoyed doing it, it’s really made me think! (I had SO much fun writing this up) Please see their questions and answers here:

https://lifelessonsaroundthedinnertable.wordpress.com/2018/05/30/the-writing-world-tag/

The Rules

  • Thank the person that tagged you and link to their website
  • Post the rules
  • Answer your tagger’s questions
  • Share your two favorite writing tips and where you got them from
  • Share two random story/WIP ideas you’ve never shared before (It would be cool to include covers, but you don’t have to) (And also they don’t have to be ideas you’re ever going to turn into anything)
  • But don’t spoil them for us 😉
  • Tag five people
  • Let the people you tag know that they have been tagged
  • Ask five questions
  • No, you can’t re-tag the person that tagged you

My Questions

  • If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

JUST DO IT! Just start somewhere…DO IT BECAUSE YOU LOVE IT!

  • What was an early experience where you learned that language has power?

My Grandmother is a Librarian, now retired. When we were younger we use to go and visit her a lot and got involved in a lot of the Libraries children programs. I definitely learnt the power of language there. The power of good story telling.

  • What period of your life do you find you write about most often? (Childhood, adolescence, adult hood, young & golden years)

I write mostly, I think, YA mainly. I write more along, teenagers becoming young adults.

  • What is the most difficult part of writing for you?

I just don’t believe in myself enough. I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t want at least one writing of mine published. Then when I start writing and I feel like it’s silly. I think trying to compare myself to someone like JRR Tolkien does not help myself.

  • What inspired you to start your blog?

If you are a frequent reader of mine you will know that I started my Blog because of a school project. We had to write up about two different social media type platforms that we have never used before. I just enjoyed it so much I’ve just kept it up.

Share your two favorite writing tips and where you got them from.

  • Do not write unless you want too! There is nothing worse than trying to make yourself write. If you’re not feeling it, it’s just not going to happen. This is just a personal tip. Sometimes I feel like (especially if I’m not doing anything) that I should be writing. I always find that I get nowhere and even if I manage to write something, I usually rewrite that bit later.

  • If I’m having a bit of writers block I watch everything and listen to what I consider to be fantasy. I find that this motivates myself. Even if I don’t end up writing, I definitely come up with ideas.

Share two random story/WIP ideas you’ve never shared before (It would be cool to include covers, but you don’t have to) (And also they don’t have to be ideas you’re ever going to turn into anything)

I have actually been kind of working on the two below, it’s be great if they’d turn into something…But we’ll see!

  1. The first one I’ll let you know about is actually supposed to be like a television series. I was inspired by a role playing game I played years and years ago. I was a Sorceress, but we had elves and monsters and all sorts! I’ve been writing it like a cross over Lord of the Rings with the television series withX-Men Evolution. Of course though my character (the Sorceress with the pet Wolf) is the Rogue type character.
I haven’t written anything for it for years though, but every now and then I’ll think of an episode idea.

    Xmen;_Evolution!

  2. The other was inspired by a computer game, but I’m writing a novel, that I used to play, also years ago, on a portable PlayStation portable hand player. That is now a huge game on the XBOX 1. It’s supposed to be kind of like I guess YA novel. I would love to publish it, but I don’t think I’m even half way through it.

Tag Five People – I will Tag five people, but if you want to do this one, please feel free!

  1. Musings from a Tangled Mind
  2. This is My Truth Now
  3. From Private to Public
  4. Where Words Daily Come Alive
  5. On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea

My Questions to you:

  1. What is the worst advice someone can give you when you’re in the middle of  writers block?
  2. Do you have a writers “set up”. Similar to a reading nook. Please describe.
  3. What (if anything) do you need to have around you to write?
  4. Are you inspired by other authors/writers? If yes, who and why?
  5. Writing wise, what is the most important lesson/s that you have learnt?

Help!

I have done something that is really frightening to me, but at the same time, is rather exciting and I don’t even know what if it’s going to happen…Or what I even have to offer!

At my work place it has slowed right down, right down that, at the moment, we are not even getting one day a week. So I am trying to find something else at the moment. One of things that I have fallen back too is volunteering in the area of work that I REALLY want to work in…Library work.

I What I Want What I Really Really Want GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

When I have gotten myself into though, I  AM so nervous and haven’t done nothing like this before. They don’t have any room for library Volunteers, but they were thinking of making a gardening, technology and writing club…I said that I’d be interested in the Writing Club and now I don’t know why!

What do I know about writing?

I mean, I write this Blog…But I am not an expert by any means! I don’t even know if it’s really going to happen…At the same time though, I REALLY want to do it as well!. It excites me as well, but what do I know about any of this?

Where do I go? Is there a site I could too? Is this a sign that I should be writing more?! Start actually “publishing” and really working on the stories that I write?

Letter Writing Week

Apparently Letter Writing Week starts this week…I can honestly say that I cannot remember that last time I wrote an actual hand-written letter…So what a better time to write a letter than this week? So who could we write letters too? Celebrities, Friends, Family, a letter to our partners…A letter with everything that we wish we could say to a certain person?
