What a week!

No idea how this is going to go…my WordPress keeps “breaking”. The link keeps breaking and I have to keep re-loading.

So here’s how my week has been:

  • Got a job, I initially didn’t want…I spoke up though, put some conditions and still got it! Go Me!
  • In this week, I had to reschedule with my therapist three times, haha. Once with myself, and two times because…well you know, it’s crazy out there. She had to reschedule twice.
  • I ended up having to cancel my physio, because my job provider was sick, I wasn’t told. So I had to wait for a phone call, and if I didn’t get the call, I could be in big trouble and possibly get cut off from welfare before I even started my new job!
  • We found my Gran (with dementia) a home, and it seems really beautiful. It’s won awards, they have a group that sings…Which my Gran used to love, so hopefully she still does.
  • Actually felt listened to to places that I put complaints into. Not about the business, but about specific people. Who shouldn’t be working in the area’s they are *cough Lisa Townsend cough*.
  • I was going to “celebrate” the new job last night with lemon and vodka, and fish and chips…I had two minutes noodles, and a can of Sprite, haha

So I need a calm happy song, instead of a excited happy song…I am just drained! Haha

A new week!

Kind of…I guess? Haha.

New weeks start at different times for different people. I have a friend whose new week starts on Friday, meaning they have Wednesday and Thursday off. They were telling me how it’s weird to be one of the few people who doesn’t have Mon-Fri. Who doesn’t have the same weekend as everyone else.

So there new week, new beginnings doesn’t work at the same time for the same of all of us. Even those who don’t work. Since those who don’t have to work, have to abide by the Government’s time lines, very few people have to do anything on the weekend. So while not working, you still work during the week. It’s just a different kind of work, it’s working to get you work.

Whenever your new week begins, we all have a new week, and new beginning.

What a horrible week!

Apart from a lovely a visit from my baby brother, everything else has gone horribly wrong!

I do have to say that I have been loving the responses to my Liebsters Award post and how its not just myself that has some good plush love happening! In a totally G rated capacity…(that could have been weird!lol)

Below is a picture of myself and my latest purchase…Her name is Savannah and she is a “Charlie Bear“, but I had to go on ebay to find her. They’ve all discontinued her year. I bought her because she looked just the right size for some cuddling and I also bought her in memory and in honour of all the little lion cubs that I’ve seen and we’ve lost on safarilive

Lions have always been my favourite and top 5 favourite animals of all time!

CBCA

Yesterday (Sunday the 19th of August) started off the Children’s Book Council of Australia … Children’s Book Week … Bit of a mouth-full … and it’s held every third week in August.

The CBCA brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Children’s Book Week. During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children’s literature.

Each year has a theme and the theme for this year is “Escape to Everywhere”

It’s just another Manic Monday

I had this whole plan to write a whole post about the last week, my new job and what I’ve learnt in the last week…What I’ve learnt in the last week though has been REALLY depressing. I don’t even want to talk about the depressing stuff, so I’m only going to talk about good things…I feel like a lot that people need to see more positive stuff, because we’ve stopped believing!

  • So I started my new job last Monday and I’ve been really loving it, the staff are lovely and they are using a American Library Management System and instead of using the term “Check In” like we usually do, on the LMS, it’s got the word “Discharge” instead…We all agree, it’s a gross term. It doesn’t even make sense…Discharge goes out, not in…ewwww, lol
  • The police officer who shot and killed teenager Jordan Edwards, (and into a car full of teenagers, who I can only imagine how traumatised they are now) is actually being charged with murder. I think that’s the first time I’ve ever heard of this happening. They usually get off, or get suspended…So something is changing! Whether he’ll be found guilty or not is another question. Now I just want to say I love the police and there are good ones out there, but it’s time to the bad ones start to be held accountable. The bad give the good ones a seriously bad reputation and it’s just not good enough!
  • All of my favourite streamers were streaming on Twitch on the weekend and it was SO much fun! Please check them out Stacey Roy  , Darshelle Stevens
  • I’m actually all organised with all my Mothers Days gift for my Mum this year over this weekend, instead of waiting till the day before next weekend.

I want to break up…

Monday

So I have a lot going in this next week and I’ve written a Blog for later in the week about some changes that are going for me personally. The quote above is definitely how I am feeling about this week and I just really want it to be over with and now where I stand with everything. I am making myself very busy this week and keeping myself preoccupied.

Banned Book Week

This past week has been a very interesting week. It has been banned book week in the US of A.

The 2015 celebration will be held September 27-October 3. Banned Books Week is an annual celebration of a freedom to read. Hundreds of libraries, bookstores and some school around America draw attention to the problem of censorship by hosting a variety of events and making displays of challenged books.

“Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries. More than 11,300 books have been challenged since 1982 according to the American Library Association”

If you look up the American Library Association they have a good list of the books that are (as the saying goes) “frequently challenged”.

What are your favourite spices?

It depends what we’re talking about here. I love all sorts of spices in all sorts of different way. I love cinnamon on top of my chai latte, but I also love how certain herbs will make my spaghetti bolognase taste amazing. I am honestly not sure that I could ever choose just one spice.

What object do you always have with you when traveling and why?

Apart from the obvious, the other thing I always travel with is at least one book. No matter what situation I am going into, it’s great to have a book that I can read whenever there might be an “appropriate” moment. The other thing that I do though is always pack an extra pair of underwear, you never know when someone might through you into a lake and ruin your underwear!

What is one thing you love about being an adult?

The freedom, even with or without a car. The ability to be able to go where ever we want whenever we want, there’s no one to answer too. I don’t have to be in a by a certain time, and I can have whoever I want over. By the same token though, sometimes my Mum always knew who was a good person and a bad person for me too be around.

What item, that you don’t have already, would you most like to own?

I have been wanting to get a 80’s Rogue X-men figurine for the longest of times, but they are always either not available any-more or they are way to expensive. Either that or if I’m being all socially responsible I would get the outside entertainment dining set-up for my Mum. I kind of want it too though, lol.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for my new partner, he is just lovely and I actually feel like he would actually miss me if we broke up. He treats me so well and he hasn’t made me cry once! The week coming up? … It’s my birthday next week so anything that happens to me is going to be great!

Regarding your fridge, is it organized or a mess inside?

It’s actually organised in a messy way, there are pieces of food that have they’re places (like the vegetables in the vegetable draw) and everything has it’s place. However, we’re not OCD about it….Our fridge makes sense…If that makes sense?

Have you ever been a participant in a parade? What did you do?

I have never been apart of a “parade”, but I have gone to lots of rallies, fighting for causes and such. I’m not sure in Australia that we really have “parades”.

How do you stand out from the crowd?

I am just me. It sounds like a cliche, but it is definitely true. I think if you were to go into any group I’m involved with, they would know me…Maybe not always for the best, but a lot of people don’t like others who don’t put up with a lot of bull…Hey, we’ve got only one life time people!lol

How many bones, if any, have you broken?

I have been really lucky, as I have not broken any!
