Here comes the sun…oh no, it’s gone again

There are two times of the year, I really dislike. I wouldn’t say hate, but that’s a bit extreme and it’s not like the weather does it on purpose … or does it?

One of those times is when it’s changing from Autumn to Winter. When you have four seasons in a day. The days are not yet horrible, but they loom and that is slightly depressing, because you know the dark weather is coming.

The other time, is now. When it goes from Winter to Spring. Honestly the biggest thing is, that I don’t like never knowing what to actually wear. Take Wednesday, it was beautiful! First warmish day in a few months. Had to work, but still, gorgeous. Luckily, where I work we’ve got big windows and I got to see the birds play too. Then Thursday was all grey, and while not drowning with rain. Had little specks, here and there.

I bring at least three jacket type tops. One is a light rain jacket, it’s pretty hand really. Hood is huge though, it covers my face. The other two one is a light cardigan, and the other is a smart cardigan, that’s a little than the rest. They’re all nice, but on Wednesday, I didn’t need any of them. Then Thursday, I needed all of them.

Wednesday was 20 c, which is 68 F. Thursday was 14 c, which is 57.2 f.

That heatwave!

Well, as an Australia, I think I am qualified to talk about this.

I’ve been noticing that a lot of people overseas, are talking about heat waves. Aren’t they just the WORST! I don’t mind Summer, but those heat waves are worse than cold. I can’t write about snow, my state doesn’t get it. Or at least, I’ve never seen it.

I’ve got some advice for you. Mainly, how I “cope” with out putting on an air-conditioner. My mum likes to say that we don’t work full time to not have the heating/air con on. But it’s also considering your bills and your energy use. Which, I’m sure you all know, can end up costing a lot. Then you start thinking “Well I didn’t really need it on then”.

Writing about air conditioning though, DON’T put it on to the point of freezing in your house either. Put it in on so your cool, not freezing. The amount of times my body has nearly collapsed, from going to somewhere freezing in an office building, to outside into a heat wave and my body cannot cope with that well. I don’t know why people do that either, it will make you sick. You’re putting your body into instant extremes.

Here is my list:

  • Prepare for a blackout. – Put some those ice blocks you put into picnic baskets, wrapping them up in a tea towel can help you feel cool. Make sure all torches are charged. If you prefer candles, make sure you know where the candles and matches are. Considering purchasing “light candles” the ones where you put batteries in and you can turn them of and off, different colours with a controller.
  • If you’re by yourself, close all the curtains/blinds. Anything that lets sun in, cover it up. Generally during the day you can still get enough light into a house to see, you just want to stop a lot of sun coming in.
  • Have a cool shower before bed. Again, not freezing, just enough to cool down.
  • Sometimes, I will dampen or wet a hand towel and put it on my head. I find that if I’m cool as I fall asleep, I will fall asleep well.
  • See how you can put a timer on your air con or fan. It’s the same with the damp towel, if I’m cool as I fall asleep, I will fall asleep. Sometimes I find that just having air moving helps as well.
  • If you’re in your house, go nude! If you can only do it when you’re by yourself, go nude then.
  • Buy a big dress or also known as a “moo moo” to wear around the house. If you wear it out as well, cool. Just something big and breezy around the house, can make you feel cool. But if you have to answer the door, then you’ve got something to wear.
  • Drinking is a bit harder, because people love their coffees and cups of tea. So we forget to drink water. I’ve also started to see that a lot of people don’t “like” water. But we need it. So flavour up your water. There are lot of ways to infuse your water with fruits, and all sorts of things. So no excuse to not drink water!
  • Talking about water, make sure you always have at least two bottles of water in the fridge. I don’t care if you infuse with them with something. But if you have a gathering, you will NEED water. Doesn’t matter if you don’t like water, I can guarantee a majority of your guests will drink water. Also though, when you open the fridge, that will remind you to drink water.

Since we are approaching the hottest part of our summer in the northern hemisphere, what’s your favorite ice-cream, frozen yogurt or sorbet flavor?  (Those of you who live down under I’m sure you remember what it is like in the hot summer months).

I really love frozen yoghurt! Gosh, it is so yummy! I am a big fan of any berry flavoured frozen yoghurt. I eat it so fast I get brain freeze, I never learn…But it’s just SO good! I just don’t like having type of frozen or really cold food during Winter. When summer comes back around though…Watch Out!

How often do you people watch?

Oh my goodness. If I’m around people I am people watching. The only time I’m not really people watching is when I’m at home. Even then sometimes I’ll watch my partner or my Mum just wondering why they’re doing what their doing.

If you had a choice which would be your preference salt water beaches, fresh water lakes, ocean cruise, hot tub, ski resort or desert?

Oh fresh water lakes. It just beautiful and meditative. Take a day and just lay out on the bank. The views and the animals…Bliss!

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Everything this week. This has been a good week, even though weird things happened. I took control and worked on it. Then I got exactly what I wanted. I just did it and it happened =D

Would you prefer a reading nook or an art, craft, photography studio?

If I could I would have both a reading nook and a art and craft studio. I like taking photos, but I’m not really interested in it to make it a whole room. I am more of a “phone photo taker”. I would love to have a reading nook though, I have seen so many pictures of people’s reading nooks and I just love them! I play “The Sims” and pretty much all of my houses have a “reading room”.

Tell how you are feeling today in the form of a weather report. (For example, partly cloudy, sunny with a chance for showers, etc.)

I love this! It’s a little bit cloudy, but there is a sun and some light peeking out and hopefully there’ll just be a lot of light soon!

If you could witness or physically attend any event past, present or future, what would it be?

I would love to attend a Bruno Mars concert. At the moment I can’t really go to concerts, I don’t want to spend a lot of money just to have an anxiety attack. I keep telling myself though Bruno Mars is young, I’m getting better…One day this will happen!

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Things you like about Fall/Spring

34. Things you like about Fall/Spring

There are so MANY things that I love about Fall and Spring, I’m a big fan of Spring the most though, It is definitely my favourite season of the whole year. Even though nothing “special” is in it…Spring is a special three months all on it’s own!

I love Spring, it means that Winter is finally over and yet, it’s not too hot at the moment like it is in the Summer. It’s just feels perfect, you can stay outside without either freezing or sweltering. You can swear skirts and dresses without over heating and at the same time not freezing either. I always love the first day of Spring, when it really feels like Spring. Every time I really feel like that first day of Spring the only song that comes on in my head “Here comes the sun” by George Harrison. It will play over and over again in my head and it is GLORIOUS!!!

What is your favorite cheese?

I LOVE Jarlsberg cheese (the yummy cheese with the holes in it). You can even buy it in slices and I do and I love it on my sandwiches.

Are you left or right handed?

I am left handed…I know, I know…Devil child,lol

Do you prefer exercising your mind or your body? How frequently do you do either?

I probably exercise my mind more than my body, but I definitely need to start exercising my body a lot more than I have been. I went to run for a bus, but I felt so stiff running for it and I as I was running for it, I realised I couldn’t even remember the last time that I ran…For anything, lol

Complete this sentence: Hot days are …

a long time coming! We are currently in the middle of Winter here and I am completely missing Summer!

Summer and I

I usually do these posts on a Friday because it’s give me a whole week to reflect from the last one. I can’t help but start to dream of Summer though even before Friday. Due to me being in the Southern Hemisphere, we are heading towards the colder weather. Each day is getting that little more warmer. Hence why I am writing this Blog earlier than I usually do, because being cold makes me think of all the lovely warm things Summer brings with it.

  • Dresses and Skirts
  • Ice Blocks…I don’t really eat ice cream, mainly ice blocks.
  • It feels easier to travel to places.
  • Places just seem nicer to visit. Not only do I mean actual places seems nice to visit, but as my above answer says, travelling just seems more pleasant.
  • It’s usually lighter outside for longer.
  • For me, being in the southern hemisphere, means that Summer is during Christmas. Lots of public holidays, lots of seeing people you love.
  • Going for leisurely walks with my dog, instead of rushed ones, hoping we don’t get wet and cold…and potentially getting ourselves sick.
  • New Years is also over Summer and this year we’re going to be going to a hotel looking over a popular beach. It’s going to be fantastic!

Weather or not?

18. The Weather

I am just going to start this post off by saying that I get that I wrote the “Weather” that was part of the point =P

It’s kind of hard to write about the weather and talk about what I’m grateful for because it is always changing, and at the moment there are so many fights going on about climate change…and how some people are fighting it, when it’s just a fact of life.

I guess the thing that I am most grateful for is that with each season comes a different kind of celebration. Also with weather comes different feelings, like how when you first start to see Spring again, that first whole day of sunshine and it isn’t too hurt. It just makes you happy. Even though Winter can make you feel completely miserable, is there anything better than being able to snuggle and curl up on a horrible day, with a hot drink?

The weather can be such an inspiration and help you to create new things. There are only certain things you can make at certain time of the years. Well technically you can make things at any time you want, but some things are just more suitable.

You can:

  • Cry in it
  • Run in it
  • Be inspired in it
  • Blame it for why you can’t go out
  • Be warmed up by it

Share Your World … May 1, 2017

Would you rather live where it is always hot or always cold?

Always hot (as long as it’s not too boiling) I could never ever live somewhere where it always cold, I think I would die. I am really not a fan of the cold, it’s horrible getting to and from work and then you have to try and make yourself warm. Thanks to my anxiety, I do much better when I can put the window down, and during Winter you can’t really do that.

Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?

I have always had long hair, the shortest that I’ve ever had is probably to my shoulders and that was because my Mum “accidentally” cut my hair all lopsided, so we had to keep cutting it to make it even.

What is your favorite month of the year?

Probably December, which surprises people a lot because it’s not my birthday month, but as I’ve mentioned in a previous post. Birthday very rarely go the way that we would like them too. I’m a big Christmas person though, I always enjoy Christmas. Even last year when I had to do a lot of my shopping online because of my anxiety, as I found it hard being in a very full shopping centre, I still enjoyed it…Mainly it’s the people. Also the weather is nice and warm, not too hot yet, but warm enough I can wear skirts and dresses and feel great.

What is the easiest way for your to learn something new?  By reading, by seeing and doing, in a classroom?

I have to kind of see it and do it myself as well, and I probably will take a few times to see it. It’s funny that this question is in here today. As I’m writing this I started training at a new job and I kind of felt thrown in at the deep end today. No one really explained to me how the phone works, the kind of enquiries they get over the phone, and they kept doing that too me! I was getting really annoyed, they didn’t even tell what was then hold and transfer button. All it would have taken is one time for me too see to get it. In all honestly when that happens to me, I don’t learn anything, I panic on the spot and take nothing in.
