Video: Study Shows How Dogs Recognize Their Toys — FACE Foundation Blog

Our dogs love their toys, and many of them have favorite toys. Many dogs are also able to retrieve a particular toy when their owners name it, i.e., “Bring me Bear.” Researchers at the Family Dog Project, a Hungarian academic research institute that studies the behavioral and cognitive aspects of the dog-human relationship, recently examined […]

It’s not just for kids!

So there was a TERF, who was complaining about how Lego is not for adults, and anyone who does play with them, is probably a pervert and trying to groom.

You know what cracked me the most though? This account calls themselves the “Wild Woman Writing Club” and they think Lego is only for kids? Did you know some Lego sets can cost up too $500?! You know how I know, I’ve bought two of them for my partner. Are they trying to tell us that parents are buying $500 lego sets, just for kids?

This got us all talking about how not everything is for the kids.

For those who are relatively new to my blog, I buy teddy bears from a company called Charlie Bears. While, like Lego, you can buy them for kids. They are best suited for adults. Of course, you can all spend between $70-$500 for a teddy bear, for a kid. But they are best suited for adults.

Oh, colouring in books! I have a whole lot of them! I wouldn’t be without them. And I am always on the lookout for more!

So yeah, absolutely not everything is for just the kids!

I even have a couple of Barbies, lol … Mainly because though they can be useful sometimes in pictures and also…I mean, come on…a Barbie you can meditate with! I was SO disadvantaged as a child, lol It has a puppy that you can show the mood you’re feeling…I mean…COME ON!!!

You all MUST have something that you “play” with that can be for both children and adults?

For the young ones

I wanted to do something fun for my first post for Black History Month. I know that normally it’s all about honoring the past, but you know. Let’s have a little fun, before we get too serious. One thing about the modern times, there are more and more options for young people to buy toys. And for collectibles for us older “kids” too!

I manage to snag myself one of these, and I love it. It’s on my bookshelf now, I thought that was appropriate placing. It’s Maya Angelou Barbie Inspiring Women Doll.

Colored Francie made her debut in 1967, and she is sometimes described as the first African American Barbie doll.

Of course with Black Panther played by the beautiful Chadwick Boseman, there are a lot more options for “boys” as well. Although personally, I have no problem with what “gender” toys, and who plays with what “gender” toys. If I was younger, I would have LOVED a Black Panther toy. Black Panther and Chadwick Boseman are equally as beautiful.

And don’t think for a second that African American people get out of those “real life looking” creepy baby dolls.

*shivers*

I know that plastic isn’t the “in” thing…But at least they look cute, and not “alive” like Chucky.

So of course you have Barbie, Mattel, Bratz…I can’t think of other doll companies, lol.

Don’t forget about Etsy! They have such a range!

I know 2000, was a few years ago…But you know, she’s beautiful!

Share Your World…Feb Week 1, 2018

What would be your ideal fantasy way to spend Monday?

  • Slow cook…Oh my goodness, I’ve just been introduced to slow cooking…I am in love! You can smell the yummy food all day, it’s fantastic!.
  • Some serious cleaning out.
  • Take my dog for a walk.
  • If I’m at my partners house, I love cleaning up while he’s at work.

What one person that you are out of contact with would you like to say thank you to?

I can’t really think of one person, generally (even ex’s) I will thank for anything good or positive they brought to my life…Who knows when I’d see them again! There’s only one because I cannot remember if I thanked him or not. In year 6 (so about 10-11 years of age) I was bullied pretty much by all my classmates (my friends were in another class and I was not allowed to swap for some reason). There was one classmate who actually made me laugh, but of course if I tried to be friends with him, “I must love him”. I don’t think he realised how much he got me through.

List your favorite toys or games as a kid?

  • Hide and Seek – I was the BEST at this! I played with my cousins and brother and I was the lightest so I could hide up in the highest tree and hide in the tiniest spaces.
  • I loved my Barbies! They had a whole story going on there. There was one who could only eat junk food or she’d die! There was another who was psychic and she was also the group back manager. All my non-barbies “dolls” were the Barbies parents (I remember having an Strawberry Cupcake Doll) . Good times! Some of the outfits and Barbies that I got have come back in Fashion. I recently rebought a Rock and Roll 1980’s Barbie (link to pinterest…I also had the peaches and cream dress).
  • We all had a lot of little cars and trucks. We made car families and we were so original. We had the “Truck Family”, who only had trucks, the “police car” family. There was the Mayor’s family, who were all the fancy cars. We had a group of “teenagers” that were what you called nearly on the scrap heat and they were all fosters. Of course the Mayor’s daughter was in love with one of them!
  • I also was given my cousins cabbage patch doll, but at the same time I was given a “Magic Nursery Doll” – (goes to a YouTube video). I still have those two! They’ve been put away though for my future children.
  • I had a puppy surprise and my brother had a Footrot Flats dog and one of the “surprise” puppies was black and white.
  • Since I was a Ballerina when I was little, I also had a “My pretty Ballerina – ebay link” Who’d hang out with my magic nursery and cabbage patch doll.
  • My top 3 favourite though was my life-sized doll, who we called Brittany. She was my “sister”. She was in all the family photos. Then my brother turned her into a goth and made her a little black dress and we still have her too. I have to take a picture of her.

I am having such a good time remembering these =D Thank you so much!

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

In all honesty the question above has really been making me smile and now I’m looking for the other toys from my childhood. Thank you!

Toy and games that will make 90’s girls (and some boys!) super nostalgic

Retail Therapy

The last couple of months I have hit the retail therapy HARD CORE! I mean generally there is always some kind of retail therapy for me after a breakup, but I have been getting rid of so many old clothes and getting new gorgeous ones. It is a necessary function that needs to be performed after every single break up…No matter how nice or nasty!

It is interesting though what people decide to buy after a break up. When I was younger I used to buy plush toys and I still actually have them all and I have no bad feelings towards any of them. As I’ve gotten older though I buy clothes more now and I buy things that I’ve been wanting for a while but never got around too.

What do you buy after a breakup? What makes you feel better? Is it buying bad food (sometimes I do that…Nice juicy bad burger~.^) is it watching “bad” movies? Is it just being around family and friends?.
