So this is not only the title of a John Oliver segment on his show…But it’s all my first thought when I hear “Geordie Shore” has ANOTHER series coming.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s very similar to shows like “Jersey Shore” in America…But unlike Jersey Shore, Geordie Shore…In my personal opinion, mind you, they are just so vile.
Chloe Ferry reportedly FIRED from Geordie Shore after ‘kicking new housemate Zahida Allen in the head’ … Who is watching these shows?
When I think of all the shows that have been cancelled after “A” season like “Firefly IMDb“…That is what is wrong with our society, lol
Share Your World … Week 46
Are you a traveler or a homebody?
I am definitely a homebody, I enjoy being in my little home. However, I do travel interstate a couple of times a year and I really appreciate the time I have there. I’m always fully booked when I travel. I am one of those people that always seems to need a holiday from my holiday. If I was rich I would probably travel a bit more as well than I do now, and would stay longer. The majority of my time would be spent at home still though.
What kind of TV commercial would you like to make? Describe it.
Oh wow! I’m honest’t sure what commercial I would like to make. I’ve always the perfume/aftershave type commercials were “lame”. So I definitely wouldn’t want to do one of those. Maybe I could do some kind of travel commercial…That doesn’t involved boats!lol
Describe yourself in a word that starts with the first letter of your name.
This is a good one! The first word that honestly popped into my head was “Love” I’m just full of love…Yes, some days are harder than others to love people, and I do say people, people can make it hard to love them. Generally everything I do is coming from a place of love. I do try not to treat people with malice.
List some fun things for a rainy day.
- Colouring in
- Cooking/Baking warm food or drinks!
- Listening to the radio
- Watching comedies
- I love to clean out my room on those days, get rid of old things and junk.
For those who are regular readers of my Blog, you will know that I am obsessed with a particular Ustream tv program called “Wildearth Safari” or if you follow Twitter “#SafariLive”. I’ve been watching it for a couple of years or so now. You might have even watched it during Big Cat Week over the last couple of years, as during that week they put the drive live on television.
The last few months have been hard for the animals there, mainly the grass eater/prey type food. There has been a really bad drought and the last month in particular, you can tell how rough it has been getting. A lot of the predators have not even been hunting to much as the prey has been succumbing to the drought.
I am extremely happy to say then that last night and the day before Djuma received some rain! https://twitter.com/graham_/status/777317528406220800 …
Coming from a country that also suffers a lot from droughts, I think it’s the only time I love hearing that rain is coming. I have been watching the live feeds with the sound turned up as the rain falls. The animals so desperately need it. It’s been so sad to see them getting worse and worse. Although on the other side the predators have been having an amazing time!
On a completely but kind of related topic…Just to let my American comrades know that this week is “Big Cat Week” on Nat Geo Wild and the drives will be showing. You should take complete advantage of this. I wish we had it here down under.
Share Your World … Week 26
What’s your most memorable (good or bad) airplane flight?
I get motion sickness so they always tend to not be great, but it’s why I prefer to travel during the day, even during Winter/horrible weather. Mainly because you fly over the clouds and seem to encounter very little turbulence.
How many bones, if any, have you broken?
Luckily I have not broken any bones…Yet! Knock on Wood!
If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? (guest can be dead, alive, famous or someone you just know)
Oh, I really like this question! One of my guests would have to be Audrey Hepburn, I just find her and her life incredibly fascinating and definitely a life well lived! I would love to interview my Poppa Joe, just so I can see him one more time, but also because he did have such a great mind. I’d love to know what he makes of certain things now.
Make a Currently List: What are you reading, watching, listening to, eating, needing, wanting, and missing right now?
- Keeping Faith – Jodi Picoult (I’ve actually been “Reading” this one for a couple of months now).
- Q.I (UK)
- I am relistening to Within Temptation and Enyas new album!
- I had a mixture for dinner, pumpkin soup, spring rolls and fried rice.
- I need something that stops my leg aching >.<
- I am also wanting something that stops my leg aching…and a Library job!
- My baby boo =D hehe
Over the past week my work has quietened down a bit so I have been able to voluntarily watch a bit more of the television. Lately the television stations have been a lot of shows from the past and it has been amazing! There is definitely truth in the saying “They just don’t make them like they used too”.
A lot of the shows that I’ve been watching as well are all comedies. Comedies are just my favourites. Let me refresh your memories and lets take a step back on a much “easier and kinder” time.
“Good Times” (ran from 74 – 79)
This show is a spinoff from the show “Maude” which was also a spinoff from “All in the Family”. The main premise of the show is two parents and three children living in a housing project in a poor black neighborhood. When I read more about the show I was a little surprised to learn that the show was originally meant to be more serious. It is a great comedy show though. I have never seen the show before and I was laughing through the whole way through.
“Who’s the Boss” (ran from 1984 – 1992)
Anthony Morton “Tony” Micelli (played by Tony Danza) is a former second baseman who was forced to retire due to a shoulder injury. He wants to move out of Brooklyn to find a better place for his daughter, Samantha (played the sweetheart Alyssa Milano). He ends up taking a job in up-scale location, as a live-in housekeeper for divorced advertising executive Angela Bower (played by Judith Light) and her son Jonathan. This was an interesting show as it portrayed a women/mother as the breadwinner (even though Danza and Lights characters didn’t date in the show until later). It was probably one of the first shows where this was the case and it was HILARIOUS!
The classic “Different Strokes” (ran from 1978 – 1986)
This show was based around two African American boys from Harlem who are taken in by a rich white businessman and widower and his daughter, for whom their deceased mother previously worked. Although this show is a comedy it has some extremely “hard core” topics, especially for it’s time. The main focus being about racism and in their personal lives all of the stars were hit with persona tragedy.
Over the weekend I was trying to help myself get over a “SundayFundayHangover” and my partner and I suddenly remembered that “Netflix” is now playing the full season of Fuller House. So we decided to give it a go.
First of all I’ll just start this review off by saying that we ended up playing the whole season in one go, so to me, that’s always a good sign and especially since we were laughing through the episodes was a good sign as well. The only downside that I could see with the new show is that I am worried for the show relying too much on making references from the past show. Even trying to make some of the regular reoccurring new characters like the old regular reoccurring characters.
Apart from that it’s actually a really good show. If this didn’t have the original tv show it would still actually work as a standalone show (they’d have to take out the flashback references though).
I just felt like I had to write this because I’ve been reading a lot of the reviews and they all sound bad. Except that most people seem to have never seen the original and somehow expected to just “get” the new show. The others seemed to have watched the original but they expected it to be the same. It’s not a Shakespeare play, it’s a cheesy comedy.
This week I am wondering…
Would you prefer to write a stand alone novel that turns into a movie
Write a series that turns into a TV show?
Oh I LOVE this question! Mainly because throughout the years I have written fantasy episodes for my own “dream television show”. I have written my own personal writing for a television show. So I would love to write a series that turns into a TV show, mainly because I’ve already written an episode guide for a television show.
I am a Dr Who fan and I have to say that I am loving this season and I had a conversation with someone about why all the hate on the Doctor Who episode “The Zygon Invasion”…I 100% honestly have no idea why, I liked it,lol…People got nothing better to do than complain?
I liked learning more about Zygons, I know very little about them, I liked the subtly of the episode and the subtly in the episode with some current political relevant issues and I’m #sorrynotsorry but I didn’t see the Clara thing coming … It’s a tv series…God knows life is complicated enough, I don’t need my relaxation and entertainment to be complicated all the time either, lol … If only people could talk about how much they enjoyed the other episodes!
I am one of those rare Dr Who fans that always looks forward to meeting a new Dr Who (I was still devastated when Matt Smith left though, lol). I’ve really been enjoying this Season, I actually started to not enjoy it so much last Season. I think though that had a lot to do with the writing and had nothing to do with any of the actors, I’m not sure what they were thinking last season. If the Doctor can forgive, then I can too, hehe
Today on my Foxtel they have been having a “Sex in the City” Season 3 marathon! It was always funny with the television series as I didn’t start watching it until AFTER the complete show had finished and they started reruns. I do that with a lot of shows, I haven’t see any until the show has completely finished.
Seasons three for me was always really upsetting, I always found the idea of Carrie and Big having an affair kind of silly, but I guess they have to make a television show last for a whole season. I just never felt like Carrie was the type to have an affair. I also hadn’t realised until I watched this marathon how many time Carrie said “I’m getting out” “I’m finishing it” and then in the next scene had slept with Big again.
I may not be single anymore, but I promise that I am going to try and keep this Category current and up-to-date!
It’s nearly the end of the working week, so I thought that I would share some funny videos that I found on the website Book Riot. These are so great! They are Sesame Street characters taking on parodies of some famous television shows and books.
Great Bookish Parodies from Sesame Street
(Videos in order):
- Game of Chairs
- Lord of the Crumbs
- Furry Potter and the Goblet of Cookies
- The Hungry Games: Catching Fur
- Les Mousserables
- True Mud
Can I also just say on a more personal note…I am really HAPPY to see them using the Cookie Monster!
