Thank you for standing

I stand in solidarity with Christine Blasey Ford.

I have to say that it has been really good to not only see women with these statements, but it brings tears to my eyes to see men standing with her as well. I think things ARE changing for the better. Politics is always going to be a messy business and people in power to…Too see the every day man though, stand with Dr Ford…It’s makes the heart grow and grow and grow…

People REALLY have to stop thinking and saying “Well that’s not how I reacted, that’s not what I did…So you can’t possibly be telling the truth” Not everybody is you! It’s not always about you #IStandWithChristineFord

Wannabe

One of my triggers was set off a few days ago…and I am so over it! It all started when I saw this Twitter post by Emily Ratajkowski and you would think by now I would have learnt by now to NOT read the comments.

https://twitter.com/emrata/status/775455798487023616

I could not control myself! I kind of lost it with one commenter and I swear this is what they posted:

“You’re a pathetic Kardashian wannabe, . Couldn’t pick a classier role model to follow? Feminism has nothing to do with being a slut.”

First of all, I cannot STAND women who do that to another women. What we wear has nothing to do with us being a slut or not, I also really just hate that word in general. It sure as hell does not mean someone is less of a feminist because of their clothing. However, calling another woman a “slut” for what she wears, is NOT feminism and gives the rest of us a bad name.

I don’t understand how someone can call themselves a feminist and in the same 140 characters, call another a woman a slut? I posted the apparent “offending” dress which a lot of people decided was inappropriate? I don’t think that it’s any shocking than anything else I’ve ever seen before.

Also from my own personal point of view, Feminism IS about “being a slut” Being a feminist to me, is about being equal to men, which includes women being able to sleep with whoever they want, wear whatever they want, WITHOUT being persecuted. Isn’t that kind of the point?

Humanity

I just wanted to start off with saying that I actually had another post ready to go today, but there is no way that I can post that post and ignore what’s going on in Dallas and the bad situation over there.

So much is wrong with this whole situation and I would be shocked to find anyone who didn’t see something like this coming. There’s only so much people should have to live with, no one should feel unsafe in their own car, in their own home, in their own neighbourhood.

I am very lucky living in Australia, and here “Down Under” I feel safe and it feels partly wrong to write about another country. In some ways though, I also feel like we all live on this planet together and there are just sometimes where you have to stand shoulder to shoulder with others, even if it’s just metaphorically speaking.

So my thoughts are with Dallas tonight and I HOPE that we all learn from this.

Do you think Charlie Chaplin would have had any clue how poignant his words would still be today? I am crying.

#1000Speak against Bullying…

#1000Speak

So about a month ago I participated in a “Blog Challenge” so to speak with a group of another thousand Bloggers to write a post about Compassion….On the 20th of March they are doing it again, except this time we are writing about a very hot topic, Bullying and Bullies.
https://lolsyslibrary.wordpress.com/2015/02/20/1000/

At first I was wondering if I even wanted to really participate this time, I have been bullied and just this week felt that at the hands of a family member for another time. It was interesting though because it started to make me think, why is it always me who feels ashamed? These people have treated me appallingly bad with no actual good reason. Many, when I have confronted them, avoid the situation altogether, which is slightly ironic.

Then that started to make me think, 30 years of feeling badly about myself because of the words and actions of others who are beneath me…I am tired of it! Physically, emotionally and mentally I am tired, this week was the first week I actually told a bully to “get lost”. Then I started to look back at all the years I’ve been putting up with being bullied…NO ONE should have to do this! NO ONE should have to “put” up with it. Then I started to worry about all the people that are just “putting up with it”…This is for you…

You are not alone,
You are never alone,
Please never think you are alone,
YOU ARE LOVED…BY SO MANY!

We are all here for you,
All you have to do is reach out and grab our hands,
Grab on, hold on tight and we wont let go,
You are beautiful, you are sweet and you are kind.

That is something that they can never understand,
They can never fathom the kind of strength it takes to care,
They cannot understand that you are so perfectly, wonderfully, different,
They are scared of what they do not understand and what they can never be…They don’t have the guts to be who they truly want to be.

They see something in you that they wish they had. After 30 years of being bullied, this is something I know, something that I understand.
