Black Panther = The Awesome!

*I wasn’t sure how many of you would have seen Black Panther at this point so I wanted to wait a bit to write about it. I have feeling I may talk about some spoilers.*

I’m not sure how I can write this without bias, because there was pretty much nothing that I didn’t love about this movie. I’m not really familiar with a lot of the superheroes and the comics. There’s only been a couple of the superheroes where I’ve read some of their comics, and Black Panther is not one I’ve read.

I am SO regretting that now! It also means that I can’t really make any fair comparisons between the two and how fair the movie was to the comics.

There really isn’t anything bad I can say about the movie…Everything about it was pretty perfect to be honest. They casting was spot on, the music was thrilling (I wanted to get up and dance…I love a good drum!) The plot, there was no real “quiet time”, it flowed perfectly. Some of the quotes I can see becoming extremely popular.

If you want to see a movie that you’ll love for both the superhero aspect and modern days issues…You will love it. I don’t if it’s because I am aware, but the only reason would feel uncomfortable honestly seeing this movie is if they are not with people of colour and some hard core facts. Then again, I don’t know why someone with issues with poc would see this movie anyways?

Family – What I loved the most about this film was the family dynamic. They weren’t just a Royal family and that was it. They were FAMILY. It is fantastic to finally an African American family not only being represented as Royal (and fantastic royals at that) but also as a family that clearly love one another. Rather than a run away father whose skipped out on his struggling family. Father and Son have such a respectful relationship, even when they are disappointed in one another, even when they don’t agree. My heart literally broke when T’Challa (THE Black Panther) realised his father is not perfect. They still LOVE each other. They understand not everyone is perfect.

Characters – I will say this one of those movies were they got the casting exactly perfect. Even the “bad characters” are perfect. Even Martin Freeman was perfectly cast as seeming so English and so white (it’s honestly the only way I can describe it) he was so on the outside. As a white girl watching the film, I got it. I have seen some people complain because they thought Martin Freeman wasn’t “black enough” and it made him look inferior, but I honestly believe THAT was the point of his character. In a good way! Of course Andy Serkis always makes a good bad guy. I felt like Michael B Jordan was “bad”, but he’s the type of villain you will feel perfectly sad for, and so one should!

Music – I LOVED it. I believe that music can change your mood and the way you feel, and I wanted to dance in the movie theatre so much in this film.

“Costumes” – I put that in quotation marks because the clothing were not costumes. They were beautiful, colourful and glorious!

Which of these would you prefer?

Having the ending of a book spoiled

OR

Never knowing what happens?

Having the ending of a book spoiled, definitely. I’m not sure that I could live without ever knowing. Take a look at my last ex, I have no idea what turned and it drives me nuts to this day!lol…Never knowing what happens would just slowly eat away at me, it would be all I could think of, consume my every thought. I would not be able to live without knowing.

I dont want no Spoilers!

I read over the last week that there was going to be some huge devastating “thing” happen on this weeks episode of Doctor Who, so at the moment I am currently avoiding all types of social media. I am of those people who don’t think that it’s up to Facebook and all the specific Doctor Who pages to be quiet about the episode just for me.

So what do I do with all that sudden free time you may ask? I do “things”. Every time I stay off of social media it is amazing how much I get around to actually doing. I read books that I’ve been waiting to read, or finish off reading. I start or finish off crafts, I give the house a good cleaning, rather than a “It’s alright” job. It makes you wonder sometimes what you used to do with all that ‘free time’ time before social media came along.

I know not everyone has a social media type thing going in, but it seems more and more each day that we do. I’ve been thinking for myself that I am going to get into more Yoga and Pilates and build up mu muscle strength again, so I don’t ever go through this painful leg situation. I am also starting to prepare myself to get more into Crafts and hopefully become good enough at something that I can have that as a little “something on the side”.

So, my readers, what could be more magical than finding that time during the week to relax a little and close everything off for a while. Especially with another hectic bust season coming up! What do you like to do in your spare time? Any hints or suggestions to make the most of it?

Games of Thrones

*If you have not seen the Games of Throne episode “Unbowed, Unbent and Unbroken…Spoiler alerts…Also possibly over 18+ content*

So last week (I’ve only just gotten around to watching it) I watched the last episode “Unbowed,Unbent and Unbroken” and this episode has been creating a LOT of controversy, as Games of the Thrones always seems too (yes I’m aware I wrote that title wrong =P).

I noticed with myself though I spent half of it fast forwarding through a lot of the episode.  One of the good things about this episode though was that it did not just focus on just one character and did not focus on one story/plot line. This meant that the stories were pushed along and few needed to be because we had had nothing happen for a while with certain characters and it felt like “Oh, there you are”.

The problem that I am starting to have though with this series is that it’s feeling a little repetitive and yet people continue to be shocked and outrage. The particular scene at the the end was not even in the book. The writers of the show seem to think that there is only one way a woman could ever been given “strength” and that is through having really terrible happen to her and it’s starting to bore me. I was also bored though because I can’t believe that no one didn’t see what Ramsay did, coming? That’s just my opinion on the matter though. I think it was just lazy writing really.

The Small Council – “Discuss Unbowed, Unbent and Unbroken”

Oberyn Martell *spoilers*

This week is the last episode of Season 4 (four) for one of my favourite television shows “Games of Thrones”. I personally think that its been one of the most up and down seasons of the show to date. I stopped viewing after the episode “Oathkeeper” where I personally felt a scene was competently unnecessary and it was not in the book at all, they have not brought it up and it did nothing to move the plot along. Ever since then I’ve been off of the “Games of Thrones” bandwagon.

Even with Tyrions speech everyone I knew was going on about how it was Emmy winning and it was the best speech they had ever heard and I finally got to watch it…and it was good, but I have heard it before.

So enough of that! (I was hoping that people wouldn’t be able to see what I am about to write) ~.^

However despite the disappointments I had this Season, there was one character that we were introduced that continually made everything better…Oberyn Martell.

Oberyn Martell

Prince Oberyn Nymeros Martell (also known as the Red Viper)  had a very close relationship with his sister, Elia, and they were inseparable as children. Oberyn’s speed and skill with a spear and a sword are extremely well-known.

Following the sacking of King’s Landing, Oberyn learned that his sister, Elia, was raped and murdered by a Lannister knight, Gregor Clegane as well as her son, and her daughter was killed by another Lannister knight and Oberyn swore revenge. Prince Oberyn eventually comes Kings Landing to to claim the seat on the council on Prince Doran Martell’s  behalf, and to get justice for his sisters murder, which was agreed with by Tyrion Lannister.

When Tyrion is accused of Joffrey’s murder, Oberyn is one of the judges. Before Tyrions judgement , Oberyn offers to be Tyrion’s champion in trial by combat, if Tyrion tells who is guilty of the murder of Elia. Tyrion takes Oberyn up on his offer. Oberyn knows already that Ser Gregor will be his adversary.

This is where I sign off…I don’t want too give anything else away!
