Talk to yourself<3 Nurt Thursday

Nurt Thurs – Talk to Yourself

We are own worst critics, no doubt.

Sometimes what I think we need to do, is sit down by ourselves with a nice drink…alcoholic or non…all up too you, whatever makes you feel good. Listen to some good music and just talk to yourself. It might sound a little crazy, but sometimes when I need to talk but I don’t know what to say I do, actually talk to myself. Socially, I am awkward. Sometimes I need to speak to myself so I know what it is I am actually thinking, lol

Sing along to your favourite song, and let the feelings fall.

Get yourself in front of that mirror and tell yourself how beautiful you truly are ❤

Talk to yourself that you would with the kindness and love that you would show another ❤

Self Love

Some of you may remember that last month I wrote (in two parts) some answers to “Self Love” type questions…From that I decided with Question 17 that I was going to continue with the question for a month.

20 Journal Questions for Self Love

17. Schedule times throughout the day when you will give yourself a pat on the back. Tell yourself how good you’re doing. Tell yourself how much you appreciate your hard work. Set alarms on your phone to remind you. At the end of the day, write down how each affirmation made you feel. Write down how each affirmation changed your mood or actions.

Self Love Questions…Part Two

So last month I made a post called Self Love Questions. When I went to look at the link again, I realised that there were 20 questions! I decided with that I was going to make a “Part 2”! Once again, please feel free to use these for yourself!

20 Journal Questions for Self-Love

11. Have you ever valued someone else’s opinion over your own? Why? What would that situation have looked like if you put yourself first?

Oh I always value my Mums and my Grandmothers opinions over my own…Doesn’t mean I always listen, or follow through with it…Even though sometimes I really should. I wouldn’t be who I am though without them! Sometimes when I feel like I don’t know what to do, they know me best and I can always talk to them about anything.

12. What type of person do you believe you are? What do you love about those characteristics?

Even though I’ve had some ex-friends recently go around saying I’m some horrible human being. I don’t think that I am that at all. I think I am kind person, I don’t go out of my way to hurt people. I’m pretty quiet, but stubborn when I believe it’s something important. No matter how many times and over the years I’ve believed I’ve changed. I still always get INFJ for the Myers Briggs Test.

I love being me, every day I am beginning to realise how truly lucky I am to be me and to have the people around me that I do. There are a lot of actual horrible people out there.

13. Alan Watts said, “The most dangerous risk of all is the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later.” What would you do in your life if you had the world at your fingertips?

I would probably be running my own side business to be perfectly honest. Even if I had won the lottery and/or didn’t need to work anymore for whatever reason. I enjoy doing crafts and making things. I would have to be able to do it at my own pace of course. It’s something I really want to do, but I am so frightened of doing it, and I don’t even know where to start!

It’s one of the things I want to look more into this year.

14. What does forgiveness mean? What do you need to forgive yourself for? How can you love yourself through the forgiveness process?

I believe that forgiving someone for yourself is loving yourself. I need to forgive myself though for being so hard on myself. Mentally I am going through a lot right now and it can get tiring one moment to the next. There’s nothing wrong with that, there’s nothing wrong with having a moment and then to get myself back together. As long as the moments become less, or I find some other way to cope with them. That is getting stronger.

15. Being mindful means paying attention to the present moment without judgment or analysis. How can you practice mindfulness in your life? How will mindfulness help you?

Oh this is something that I am always trying to do, to be more mindful of myself and others. I think it’s just more about be aware that it’s not always about you. Not everything affects people in the exact same way.

16. Where do you want to be in a year? Focus on feeling good while you write about your dreams. Focus on feeling happy and believing your dreams can become a reality.

I would love to have at least a permanent part-time job in another Library. Even though I was treated pretty shabbily by the one that cancelled my contract (while I was sick)…and no one told me. I still would love to work in a Library at least permanently part-time. Anxiety wise I want to be handle it better without taking any drugs, probably still using Vitamins though. I personally think they have been helping me a lot. I would love to be a little more social again as well. The last 6 months or so, I’ve been not feeling up to going out so much, especially crowded places. I guess mentally I want to be stronger again, and not so tired from these pills! … Hopefully engaged too!hehe =D

I think that I am going to do this for the next month…Starting from today and write about how that had gone.

18. What do you love about your life right now? Why do you love it?

I love it right now because in pretty much every single aspect of my life. Every place and everyone that was not supportive of me last year when for really the first time in my life, I actually needed support from others. They’re gone. I’m just left with the people and places that were supporting me. How can you not love that?

Can I get an AMEN!

19. What does imperfection mean to you? How can you learn to embrace imperfection in your life?

I am one of those “annoying” people. I honestly believe that everyone is perfect in their own way. We all make mistakes, we all do things we regret and I think all of us have at least one situation where we look back in hindsight. We are imperfectly perfect. The only time I think someone is imperfect is when they are cruel and horrible to other people, or if they torture animals. I just think something has to be “off” with people who do that. I can’t honestly say that I could ever embrace those sort of people.

20. Is being selfish a negative thing or a positive thing? What if you believed that being focused on your feelings could be beneficial to your wellbeing? How would your life change?

Sometimes it can be a completely necessary thing! Sometimes you absolutely have to be selfish and take care of yourself first. It’s also important to remember it’s not always about you though. It’s okay to have a “day off” from the world, we all need it to recharge so we can better help people. Just make sure you don’t always have a “day off”, if you know what I mean.

Self-Love Questions

So I found these UH-MAZING questions that help you to reflect on what you deserve as an individual…I feel like I wanted to do these questions, I want to be more about the self-love this year for myself…Please feel free to do these as well!

The Truth Practice – 10 Journal Questions for Self-Love

Self Love Questions

1. What do I believe I deserve in life? Why?

I believe I deserve to be really happy. I feel like it’s starting to happen for me as well. I cannot control everything, but there are things I can do to make more things happen, things that are within my control. I deserve to be happy NOW…But I always did.

2. What does trust mean to me? How can I learn to trust more?

Trust to me is knowing that you can stop speaking to someone…Even in anger and know that the other person would still not tell your secrets. Doesn’t matter who it is, it can be a romantic relationship, a friendly relationship or even a work relationship.

3. There is a quote from Jack Kornfield that says, “ Like a sandcastle, all is temporary. Build it, tend it, enjoy it. And when the time comes, let it go.” What do you need to let go of in your life? How do you think you will feel once you let it go?

I need to let of not believing in myself enough. I have this terrible habit of really wanting to do something but then thinking of every single way that I could mess up, or if I’d look silly. If I’m not good enough and so it just never happens. I really NEED to let go, I feel like if I could let go of it and then my life would be so much more fulfilling.

4. The Dalai Lama once said, “Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck.” When was the last time you didn’t get something you wanted, but it worked out for the better?

Very recently actually. If you’ve been reading some of my most recent blogs you’ll know that I recently lost some life long friends. It’s not the why I wanted it to go, but I can honestly say that it’s working out for the better for me. I’ve been so much more productive and I am organising a lot more things to do for myself this year already.

5. Make a list of 10 things you do to relax. How can you incorporate these things into the week ahead of you?

  • Read a book
  • Listen to “mood music” (Depends on my mood what music I listen too)
  • I’ll take a little longer in the shower than I should
  • I hug my plushies!
  • I have about 10 different colouring in books.
  • I’ll just lounge with my pets
  • I’ve recently just started taking walks and listening to music, it’s been great!
  • Online retail window shopping…Especially when I don’t buy anything!
  • I love to play computer games
  • Watching safari live, especially when there’s not hunting and we just see baby animals, lol

6. What is your favorite song? Why do you like it? How does the song make you feel? What do you think about when you listen to it?

My favourite song probably of all time is “Happy” by Pharell Williams. I cannot not be happy whenever I hear it come on. No matter the mood I will get up and dance. If I’m lying on the bed, crying, I hear that song I am up and dancing and thinking of all the good things in my life.

7. “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson If you knew this statement were true, what would you do differently in your life? What if you could do these things every day?

I almost feel sad saying that there would be a lot I would differently, but a lot of the reasons why I can’t do what I want to do, is of course…money issues. I would do craft things to sell every day, I would probably also do computer/internet streaming a few times a weeks. There’s a lot in my life that would be different. I’ve been thinking about someone, and there’s some that I could do…I just have to watch the wallet!

8. What does love mean to you? How do you show these emotions and actions to yourself?

Love to me means that you are kind, but tough. Love doesn’t mean you just do what whatever the person you loves tells you to do. You don’t just go along with whatever, you can stand up and say when you think something is wrong. You don’t just always go with the flow. Sometimes you have to stand up and be tough.

I find this is the same when it comes to loving myself as well. I love myself, but as the general consensus we are toughest on ourselves and sometimes we have to be tough on ourselves.

It’s not about being unkind, it’s more about not wanting us and the people who we love, not to suffer anymore.

9. In what areas of your life do you show a lot of faith? Why does faith come easily to you in these circumstances?

I show a lot of faith in my family, especially my mothers side. I honestly don’t know what I would do without them! I feel and know that I am safe whenever I’m around them.

10. What would your daily habits look like if you chose to live life with an open heart?

I would probably get up at roughly 6amish, instead of 7:20am and start my day with a meditation and a glass of water. I have no idea what I’d have for breakfast, probably a banana. I’ve got a lot of cereals in my cupboard, but who eats those for breakfast!lol…I would go for a walk every day, no matter the weather. I would get to bed at 10:30pm and be asleep at 11pm. I would love to do a craft every day. Making people’s Christmas cards last year, was great! I sat there for hours, trying to make them all different. It was great and very therapeutic.
