End of a Season

At my place of work we have two busy seasons, one at the beginning of the year and one in the middle of the year…My work, in general terms, is to help students enrol into their classes at an Adult Learning pace. It’s not like High School where we have to chase them, but its not as complex as University either…For my Australian readers, I work at my local TAFE. We have two semesters, Semester 1 which is from January to July. Then Semester two runs from July for the rest of the year.

Well I am glad I don’t have to deal with 800 – 1000 students a day anymore. However, this means that my work dries up…Incredibly…My work place doesn’t always think they can justify having us casuals about the rest of them time. So where we might get a couple of days a week, the work is now drying up…Which as you can imagine is scary.

I’m applying for job, but it always makes me sad, in the last few quieter seasons I have been lucky with people going on holidays, or leaving entirely, leaving space for us casuals to work. I’m just not sure it’s going to happen this time.

This weekend I am going to try and have fun and try not to be to hard on myself. I have been applying for work and have had a couple of interviews, but nothing yet…So I think that I definitely need a fun weekend this weekend and try not to worry…Wish me luck!

Share Your World … Week 12

Share Your World – 2016 Week 12

Wanting something to quench your thirst, what would you drink?

If I need to quench a thirst the first drink that I will always go to is Water. I get really worried about dehydrating a lot. I’ve really started to see how beneficial drinking water can be over this past year.

What made you feel good this past week?

It’s actually been a pretty rotten couple of weeks to be honest, mainly because I’ve had no work shifts for two weeks now and it’s kind of depressing me. However, I have been doing little things here and there to make myself feel better. The main thing that made me feel better was renewing a lot of things, things I’ve been procrastinating.

When you’re alone at home, do you wear shoes, socks, slippers, or go barefoot?

This one depends on the weather. For example, during Summer I walk around barefoot, but during Winter I have been well-known to wear at least two pairs of socks. My feet can get really cold!

Would you rather live where it is always hot or always cold?

Always hot! I’ve just never gotten along with the cold. I get the whole icky sweaty thing, but the cold just seems to hurt my bones almost. Plus I find that most people want to actually do things when the weather is warmer. Since my birthday happens during colder temperature people bail on my birthday all the time. Last year I asked repeatedly if people were actually interested in coming and they all said yes, so I hired the huge pool room for 30 people and only 12 showed up -.- I had a good night, but I was so annoyed! I had to pay money to hire this room, it was so embarrassing!

First Day of Spring!

Today is the first day of Spring, and it’s really grey and cold outside, when it has been so pretty the rest of the week. Spring is my favourite time of the year and it’s here again! This Winter has felt so cold and grey for such a long time, I didn’t even have to put on my heater this morning to get ready =D Despite the horrible weather, it’s still kind of warm =D

Winter Heat

I HATE Winter, I swear it’s been so cold this year and I know that last weekend we had one of our coldest days is quiet a few years. This year has been particularly rough though. Last weekend was cold in Melbourne and when I came home it was freezing, much colder than Melbourne, which was odd. This weekend I spent the weekend with my partners family and I was freezing.

What do you all like to do when it’s cold? Generally if I’m by myself I’ll cuddle up with a blanket and luckily my puppy means that she loves sitting on my lap and is like a little water bottle. This weekend was horrible because there was no heating in the little granny flat we were in and it got below 0! I don’t deal well with the cold and I hate not being able to have a little heater around to just take the edge off while I get changed. My bones and everything just hurt. I hate it…

This is mainly a rant blog because it’s so cold and now I’m home and all warm and it does feel magical. I feel my body coming to life again.

Are you, my dear readers, a Winter or a Summer person…Or even a Spring or Autumn person?

Wild Earth Safari – Rehash!

So because of the weather changes the Wild Earth Safari drive live web-feed has know changed times…again! The easiest way to explain it is the Sunrise drives are now 30 minutes (half an hour) later and the evening/sunset drive is now an hour early.

I expect to see you all there! Wild Safari Live – Nat Geo or Wild Safari Live – UStream

Taken from the Facebook page of “Pondies/Djunkies Art

“As of Thursday, April 9, 2015, the sunset SafariLIVE will begin at 6:30am and end at 9:30am (UTC/GMT+2). The sunset drive will move to 3:00pm and end at 6:00pm.

These changes will ensure that the drives start early enough, with sunrise being later in our winter months, and the earlier sunsets.

Viewers will now see the sunrise drive a half hour later and the sunset drive an hour earlier than previously scheduled. This means that if you live in the Pacific Time Zone, the AM safari begins at 9:30pm on Wednesday, April 8, in the Central Time Zone at 11:30pm and in the Atlantic Time Zone at 00:30am on Thursday, April 9″.

That First Winter night

That first Winter night,
That first time you put on that familiar jumper you’ve had for years,
That first warm bubble bath, that you never want to come out of,
That first time you have to wrap the towel around to keep warm.

The first time you put on that heater
and wrap that warm blankie around you, falling asleep, warm on the couch,
The first warm cup of hot chocolate, warming all of your insides,
The first hot shower you have after running to get home in the rain, soaked through.

It’s what I’ll have to count on during these next few months…

The Winter Blues from Robert Frost

In the great land down under we are heading into the colder weather. So to get myself started and make myself actually believe it’s here, instead of being in denial about it. I am not a fan of Winter, I really do not like it. It hurts my body, I wish I could hibernate during the next few years, I think that every year.

So to “celebrate” the upcoming weather, here’s a poem I found from the King of Sunshine himself…Robert Frost.

Looking For a Sunset Bird in Winter by Robert Frost

The west was getting out of gold,
The breath of air had died of cold,
When shoeing home across the white,
I thought I saw a bird alight.

In summer when I passed the place
I had to stop and lift my face;
A bird with an angelic gift
Was singing in it sweet and swift.

No bird was singing in it now.
A single leaf was on a bough,
And that was all there was to see
In going twice around the tree.

From my advantage on a hill
I judged that such a crystal chill
Was only adding frost to snow
As gilt to gold that wouldn’t show.

A brush had left a crooked stroke
Of what was either cloud or smoke
From north to south across the blue;
A piercing little star was through.

I hope you all keep warm!
