Astrology and other cool things!

What better way to start a Monday then to tell you about some hobbies that I do. That I can’t actually believe that I have never told you all about!

Now I know the title says Astrology. I am not an actual Astrologer so I can’t not tell you your future/horoscope. However, I am a big follower of it. Now also when I say a big follower of it, I don’t really pay attention to the day to to day. When I was younger my Gran made a chart with different houses and those sorts of ones I pay attention too. Mainly because they’ve been extremely accurate.

My Gran also taught me Reiki and I am a Level Reiki Practitioner (and my bear Tristan). For those who do not what Reiki is, I’ll give you a little quick break down: Reiki is the ancient Chinese healing method with your hands. The great thing about Reiki is that you can do what is called “Absent Healings”. Which is where you give a picture or have a picture in your mind of the person your healing and you use a proxy (hence the teddy bear). I don’t use Reiki so much on other people anymore, but I do on myself at lot at the moment. It really does help. I must stress that it will not necessarily cure anything, but it helps with the stress of the situation. I once was regularly giving Reiki healing for someone who had terminal cancer. Although it did not cure the cancer, she said that it helped her with the pain.

If you ever feel like you need an absent reiki healing, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

My Grandmother also taught me the ways of the Tarot and I do love using my cards. I currently have a Lord of the Rings deck and I’ve had them for years! I love just using them to help clarify any questions or situations that I find myself currently in. Unfortunately though I don’t know why, but I can’t find my deck!

Just relax

I think that the hardest thing to do in this world is just too truly and utterly 100% relax. The last month or so have been really hard for me, I’m living pretty much pay check to check this past month. This usually happens to me twice a year. Usually a month before the busy times at my work happens. It’s part of the reason I am looking for something more permanent.

Even though when I’m on holidays and planned ones, I will still worry…Maybe I shouldn’t have taken that week off, maybe I shouldn’t have bought that extra chocolate bar. It can get very overwhelming sometimes. Especially when I start to get upset at myself for buying that little extra treat.

I find the hardest thing to do is to my forgive myself. That’s when my head gets all messed up and I have to try and control my mind so I don’t get so upset that it gets me down all day. So I didn’t mean for this to become a kind of depressing post. I just wanted to share with you what I try to do to cheer myself up that either costs nothing or costs very little.

Books: Books are a great way to cheer myself up and a few other people too I do believe. The great thing about books is that they can actually be really cheap, and sometimes free if you know what you’re doing! Join a Library-Not only do they end up getting a lot of the newest books for you to borrow for free, a lot of Libraries will take requests for new books. A lot of Libraries also have books sales where they sell a lot of different items (not just books) at a heavily discounted price. Just recently I bought three dvds of movies I’ve been wanting for a while now for $6.00 ($2.00 each).

Walking/Dancing: I love to dance and lately I have been taking my dog for even more walks. When I go back to my Mums house, I feel like I NEED to take my dog for a walk, even though she’s little and we play a lot inside. Not only can both walking and dancing be done for free, but they both also release endorphin.

D.I.Y: I always find that over the years you tend to build up a collection of things that need to be done around the house. Now this can be expensive if you do it all in one go. Sometimes I find as well though when you think of the D.I.Y. projects that need to be done you go out and get that stuff. So over time it all builds up, including the materials you need for the project.

Series watching: Now what I mean by this is when you have a favourite television series and you just sit and watch it all day, or at least have it on in the background. Now this is a great idea for relaxing because watching or even just listening to a favourite show, has shown to relax and calm the mind down. I know myself, personally, I cannot fall asleep if I’ve watched something traumatic or some kind of horror film. One of the great things about this option is that there are so many different ways you can do this. Some retail outlet these days will have a deal, for example, 3 DVDS for only $30 (I recently did this one). Let alone the new streaming services. Which do cost a bit more money than a one-off, however, you can get great deals.

I did nearly put a bath in, to relax,…but the reason that I didn’t. It ultimately leads to your overall water bill and if you are anything like me. I usually end up staying in the bath for about 15 minutes. My partner can spend literally hours, but I just cannot do it.

Share Your World Jan 17…Week 4

*Usually I post this on a Thursday afternoon. I’ve just had so many ideas for post this week, it’s kind of just gotten to Friday instead. All should return to normal next week*

Do you prefer juice or fruit?

Oh wow, this is a good one because I really do love both of them. Especially since it’s Summer here at the moment and during Summer I hate drinking hot drinks and love drinking cold drinks like Juices. I’d probably have to go with fruit though because I can have fruit whenever and there are some pieces of fruit I have all year round. Whereas with Juice, I tend to have to be in the mood to drink it.

Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?

I grew up in a small town and kind of still down. The capital city that I live in Australia is probably the smallest of the Capital Cities in Australia. Even when I went to Melbourne…Melbourne…I managed to STILL bump into someone from South Australia and not just that…We WORK in the same building!

If you were to paint a picture of your childhood, what colors would you use?

I think it was would be very magically relaxed.  So probably lot of soft colours, probably lavenders, sky blues…Just think of Fairy and Unicorn colours, but nothing harsh.

Ways to Relax List: Make a list of what relaxes you and helps you feel calm.

  • Listening to Celtic music…I just go somewhere with it.
  • I love to colour in, it just helps me focus.
  • A nice long shower, especially if the temperature is right!
  • The Sims 4…It both helps me relax, but it can also stir me up.
  • I love to dress up in costumes and wigs I have around the house, it’s just fun. I never post the pictures, but I do take a lot of them, lol

I’ll have a beverage with that book

I had an very interesting conservation over the weekend about what types of beverages people will drink with what their reading. Some of the types of beverages that people would drink with their books were:

  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Wine

Some that surprised me though were ones like energy drinks, but when they explained. Sometimes when you are reading a series of  book, ie Harry Potter and you really get into it. It can be very easy to read a whole series in one day or one night. You need a drink that can keep you going!

Music Appreciation

As I mentioned before in one of my recent posts “Blog Block” I have this thing for music when it comes to mood. Music, for me, is almost like a mood ring…You can tell how I’m feeling by the music I listen too.

“Jared Leto – Some people believe in God, I believe in music. Some people pray, I turn up the radio”.

So I thought that I would make up a list of the general songs I listen to, depending on my mood, please feel free to share this list or tag other people in the list.

  1. Creative Block: Anything Celtic sounding
  2. Angry: Anything by AC/DC…Anything metal or rock
  3. Happy: (This may be a cliche) “Happy” by Pharell Williams
  4. Getting ready for fun/party/dancing: “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson
  5. General Happiness: Anything by Delta Goodrem
  6. Sadness: Wendy Matthews

That Little Nook

So I found this amazing little article on BuzzFeed (UK) called “17 Adorable Reading Nooks That Are Cosy AF”  and oh my goodness they are utterly gorgeous! A lot of them made me very teary because of that moment when you really wish that you have one of these little reading nooks…So saying that, I hope I don’t make any of you depressed with the gorgeousness of this article!

If I was a rich lady I would definitely have a room with a Library and a little space somewhere, possibly even hidden, for my reading nook. I am particular fan of Number 6 and 17, I like the fairy lights as well as having natural light. Especailly on those days where it’s nice to read in the natural sunlight, without becoming horribly warm.

When you go away

So I went away into the country this weekend for my Dad’s birthday, which also meant that I could not really access my phone very well (it did a lot of “roaming” over the weekend. SO my phone was mainly off and I didn’t have access to a computer, internet and WordPress.

I’ve also been really struggling with a lot of personal things (mainly job related…or lack there of of getting into the field I want too). Which means that I have really been struggling to think of ‘anything’ magical. Can I just say one thing though that is magical?

Country food is amazing! I mean it’s just different and it tastes healthy as well, even when the food seems bigger. I had these “salt-bush sausages”. They are these big thick sausages that apparently have no chemicals in them or anything like that.
