One month to go!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!

One month until it’s Christmas Eve!

Can you freaking believe it! Haha

My new job means that I am working right up until Christmas Eve, but here in my state of Australia, Thursdays are late night shopping. The 23rd is a Thursday, so that’ll be the night I get all the vouchers, and I SHOULD be ready then. I’ve got three pays until Christmas Eve. Including tomorrow =D I’ve already bought the BIG presents for each person, I buy the BIG Christmas presents for.

My usual “thing” is, 3 presents for:

Brother

Mother

Father

Partner

With that, I like to buy them all one big thing. Usually with my Mum, she faffs about so much, I can’t get her something big. Like, I always make sure I ask, even in a roundabout away. My partner, really loves Lego Technic. So, I’ve gone through with him, some of the Lego Technics that are out, but he doesn’t know which one I got him.

With my Secret Santa present on my Mum’s side, if I can afford it. I will get all three presents. We usually ask for three things.

And then, the rest … I start putting money, even $10, away from the start of June!

Do you have “rules” or things you do to get your Christmas presents?

Cyber Monday

Oh my Goodness there are so many things I actually don’t mind Australia taking one “thing” from American and that would be Black Friday and Cyber Monday…I cannot tell a lie…It is fantastic with all the deals that come out at this time of year. I usually know what presents I want to get for people and I do not go out to the shops at this time. Although a delivery cost is annoying, I really do feel like it’s worth it.

What I also wanted to write about though is what else we can do as a community to help others who are not fortunate during this times. There are so many different services out there that do help those and I wanted to write about what you can do also. I’m hopefully going to expand this to different countries, depending on what I can find.

Of course we all know that we can volunteer your time to help at volunteers and shelters. There are a large variety of these. You can also help families by setting donations, after all help doesn’t just have to stop at Christmas:

Five Months till…

Christmas! I know, I know! I am that terrible that is reminding people of things they don’t want to think about at the moment.

Now you may be asking yourself…but it’s the 24th today, not the 25th…Has the Library gone crazy? Not all…It is five months from today until Christmas, Christmas Eve…The last day of shopping! Possibly one of the craziest days of the year! All that last minute shopping…Those last “spare presents” for people who buy you something, but you have nothing for them!

Why am I bringing this up now?

Let’s talk about handy hints, so it’s not as crazy around Christmas time and you can actually relax a bit more around the holiday times. You have to start early! I am going to list some suggestions that I do that helps with Christmas times.

  • Usually I started putting something away each fortnight at the beginning of June. It can be 10 dollars or even up too 50 dollars.
  • Then around August I start getting little bits and pieces.
  • For my mum, dad, brother and anyone that I’m dating I’ll buy three presents. Two can be little fun things, that are not too expensive. The third one is a bit more expensive and is something they have actually asked for.
  • I also have to take into account that, on one side of my family we do a “Secret Santa” thing and the most we’re supposed to spend is $50.00
  • You can get some great deals after Christmas (not all things have to happen before). Wrapping paper, cards…trees, are usually cheaper after the holidays. That way you are prepared for the next year as well. I usually buy another roll of wrapping paper after Christmas. Even if I haven’t run out that year.

Share Your World June Week 4

Share Your World … June 26, 2017

What goal are you working on now? Your goal can be something fun or extremely serious.  Have fun with this question.

I have a few that are serious one and a few that I would love to happen, but they don’t have too or they probably wont.

  • A more permanent position in the Library field, rather than just casual.
  • Leave Tafe for good!
  • Finish writing the fiction story that I’ve been writing for the last few years…Whether I’ll try and get it published, is yet to be seen!
  • Start a little “on the side” craft business. Which I hope would give a little bit more extra money. I don’t expect it too be a booming thing, but just something for a little more “pocket money”.

What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again?

A couple of years ago and luckily my birthday present came in time for a future bad breakup. One of my friends gave me a gift certificate towards swimming with Dolphins. These weren’t like “trained” Dolphins, we went out on a boat, in the ocean, and we had to hang onto these ropes and look into the ocean (with Goggles). It was a very surreal experience, but I didn’t love hanging onto a rope to keep us near the boat, in the ocean, that was very scary too me. I went out a couple of times and then spent the other half sitting on the boat, watching the Dolphins swim by. Plus I was by myself, I felt pretty lonely.

Did you choose your profession or did it choose you?

I feel like I have had to fight to get into the Library profession, but my Gran keeps telling me that she thinks that I was supposed to do something else. Like the writing or acting, or something like that, and I kind of agree with her, but I’m not brave enough to get out there yet and find out what that is. I can’t really see myself doing an 9-5 job. I think I’d go nuts!lol

Have you ever gotten lost?

All the time! Both literally physically and mentally. I was born and raised in the city I still live in and I still got lost all the time. I have people from interstate ask me for directions and I pretend that I am from interstate as well, or that I’ve just moved into the are myself!lol

52 Week Grateful Challenge

5. Something someone gave you

This was a hard one for me because there are a few things that people have given me that I am grateful for in many different ways. I have also taken this week as not just a specific gift that someone has given me, but also part of who I am and why I am the way I am, that other people have given me. Those who have given me the gift of making me “harder” by hurting or betraying me, those who have given me the gift of giving me more of an open mind by opening up my world and my mind.

An actual gift that someone have me though, there is one that sticks in my head. I have a huge white fluffy rabbit, it is great for hugging and just sitting against. I have had this bunny for years and year. I think that I may have been possibly about 10 maybe 11 ish years old? The reason why it sticks out to me the most, is not generally because the size of the bunny. I am not even kidding when I say even now, too me, it’s a really big bunny rabbit. However, the reason why it sticks out in my mind is because it was given to me by my Grandmother and it was an Easter present. It was the first year I did not get chocolate. Which was great! I actually am not a big fan of chocolate and it would get wasted on me. This huge plush bunny rabbit is STILL with me, it was the first time I was given a gift that was actually “me”.

Christmas in July…Kinda

A few years ago, I was just a student and was not making much money, pretty much nothing. I was on, I think America and Europe call it Welfare. However, one of the bad thing about being on Welfare, I wasn’t always able to give the best Christmas presents.

Until one year, I came up with a solution and I’ve used it ever since, even now that I work. From the beginning of June, I put away an round amount every fortnight. So if my bank account had 232.57, I would put 32.57 dollars into my savings account, the day before I got “paid” my welfare.

Then from the end of July, I start to get little bits and pieces. I usually get three presents for my Mum, Dad and Brother…and if I’m dating someone I do the same thing. Two presents are usually something a little smaller and then one “big” one. One top of that, until last year I used to get a present for my very best friends and my mothers side have a ‘secret Santa’.

What do you do, are you a Christmas Eve shopper, do you plan ahead? How many of you write Christmas cards?

I’m going to be that person today =D

Oh yes I am going to be that person today, that person that you just hate, that person you’ll want ‘unfriend”, that person that makes you want to scream “Shuddup! I don’t wanna know!” … Oh yes today I am going to be that person!

keep-calm-one-month-till-christmas

I’m only posting this because I had a conversation with my partner and I started to realise how some people don’t even panic. I guess because I’m a natural worrier I plan for Christmas months ahead. When I wasn’t working at the beginning of June I would put something away each fortnight, saving a bit each month. Then at the end of the August I’d start buying presents.

You might be able to guess that I’m a big Christmas person =D

The month before the storm

So it’s one month until December…It may not exactly be a “storm” but December, Christmas month and last month of the year can get a little crazy!

November

So for the next month at least, I will be posting links to literary type pages that I think have good gifts for people that you might want to consider getting for your literary friends.
