Online Safety

I’ve often thought about writing something like this. I figure though most of the readers on here are pretty cluey about that kind of stuff.

However, after reading Kemi Badenoch “article” on the Times. It made me feel sick to my stomach. She wanted to make LGB Alliance, who call themselves the new Stonewall. Which is so freaking laughable and the only ones who like them ARE Tories, she wanted to make them STAKEHOLDERS in the Government! She’s one of the worst than Johnson candidates.

What made me feel ill, was that she was mocking the online safety bill. The irony is, of course, it’s too protect people, from people like her. And, when I become unbanned again, I will tell her that. She calls it to help people from their “hurt feelings” Then to go on to say that she will tell people the truth. Seriously, I just want to slap some people.

My Mum does say though that to be a politcian, you have to be a little bit of a psychopath.

Fandango’s Provocative Question #168

How do you feel about online anonymity? Do you believe that when people are hiding their real world identity, it encourages them to misbehave or to be offensive? Or does it allow people to reveal who they really are or possibly how they would choose to be and act all the time if they could?

I thought that I would have a crack at this one, because it is a huge topic right. Even Elon Musk is trying to back out of the Twitter deal since they wont really confirm how many Twitter accounts are in fact “real” and are not bots.

Personally I am very open type person, I have not had the experience of someone trying to steal my identity or anything like that, so I am sure that would change how I did things, if I did. I am pretty careful though. I don’t use my phone for banking, while I use different passwords to everything really. I have tricks in my head to remember which one is which.

Saying all of that though, I know a lot of the trans community who keep an online anonymity for really good reasons. At some point each of the big and out there trans accounts have all been doxed. They’ve had their work places rang, luckily most businesses are fine with them. There have been cases on out there cis trans ally accounts, who have had some big name TERFs show up to their places of work and they were harassed there.

But then, a lot of transphobic people, especially not the big names one, are also anon. For VERY different reasons though. I suspect that a lot of them know very well what they’re doing.

So it is a conundrum.

It’s happening =D

I am so excited everyone!

One thing I use to do, years and years ago, that was not only fun, but encouraged my writing skills as well. I used to do online role playing!

I’ve gotten back into it! One of the people who is in my Discord book chat invited me. It took me a few days to get back into, but it has been such fun! When I first did it years ago, it was actually how I met my first official boyfriend.

It is so much, I have to imagine a character, create a back story for them. Then you have to remember to stay in character. There’s been a couple of times where I started to write, and then stopped and thought. No I don’t need to hurry this. I think it’s one of the great things to do role playing on Discord, you can kind of take your time and think of a much more descriptive thing to write. Whereas in the AOL role play room days, you were writing sentences like that…

The Lolsy’s Library Shop Update

So I’m not sure how many of you are aware that I know have a website:

Lolsy’s Library

The major reason I started the website was because I was completely inspired  by crafts and creating something that I could sell. Something and ideas that were related to my Blog. I bought items to create candles and those little polymer clay figurines. Originally I had planned to have them all created and done by now.

However, I didn’t plan on the planning, that it wouldn’t be so easy to just up and create things. There are different types of polymer clay and of course the ones that I bought are all hard and are hard to use and mould. There is “soft polymer clay” however, which means now I am going to grab some of those, but they will still take a few days to get here. As for the candles, I need more equipment to create those. I need to go to an op shop and get some pots and pans. As well as more scents.

It’s not all going exactly to plan…Isn’t that life though!

Here’s what I need to do soon:

  • Two pans to make the candles. Ones that can be damaged.
  • Look into soft fimo…I haven’t really found any colours that excite me!
  • Have to get the warning flame labels for the candles.
  • Need to get better sculpting tools for the polymer clay. The ones I bought, half have broken already.

Rule 1

Flowers

I have seen some really gorgeous candles lately…I kid you not though, the candle itself is around $14…The postage…$70! I am NOT even kidding…$70! What is the packaging made out of…Gold? These candles were not even in glass, just a plastic container.

There is a market here I swear! Especially for Aussies! Most of the companies were in the US…I’ve always had a rule, unless special circumstance pertains…

Do not buy anything online where the postage is more than the item!

Another One! How much more can we take? R.I.P

2016 has taken a lot from us, Bowie, Rickman, Henderson, Prince, Wilder, Natalie Cole, Ron Glass…Just to name a few and now they have taken another one!

Popular Australian print magazine, mainly aimed at youth and teenagers, Dolly, have decided to stop printing their magazine after 46 years. For those who don’t know Dolly is a well known Australian magazine that deals with youth and teenage issues. It’s not a heavy amazing as you can probably tell by the picture below. It has mainly bits and pieces that are/were relevant to youth at that time.

International Model and successful business woman, Miranda Kerrs, career was launched with Dolly.

Dolly magazine’s print edition axed after 46 years

Never fear though! Dolly is still around, it’s just online now instead of in a print version, people will be losing jobs though. SO technically not actually dead. Yet, another blow for printed materials though.

Thankfulness

As I mentioned yesterday in my post “Share Your World … Week 47” Since I live in Australia aka Down Under we don’t have Thanksgiving. Doesn’t mean we’re not grateful, and I know one group of people who are having a Grateful Thanksgiving dinner here.

One thing that I am grateful for here is because of Thanksgiving, we are able to take advantage of a lot of the online Black Friday sales, and I do love me a good sale! Especially just before Christmas! I am also thankful I only have to see video of the people who visit stores on Black Friday…They are terrifying! We should also not forget the Native Americans who are protection the water at Standing Rock.

Although I have seen that all my favourite Geeky/Nerdy online shops are having Black Friday sales today as well…What’s a girl to do!

Thank you … Part 2 … My Online life

Last week I promised myself that I was going to think at least 80% positively for the week and I have to say that I think I did really well. I was probably more 70%, but it was still a good number! I think that we are finally getting that first Spring weather is helping me a lot to think more positively. I am not a Winter person at all!

*Warning…Long post incoming*

Part of my positive thinking was saying thank you my local Chemist (as seen here: Thank you … My Local Chemist) and I thanked them for help they had given me during my time when I developed an odd form of anxiety.

This week I would LOVE to say thank you to my “online life” and the people I’ve met via the Internet.

I don’t think many people realise the amazingly positive impact that they’ve had on me through my online life. This includes people who I interact with via WordPress, my Safari Live family, sometimes Instagram etc. I have met someone awesome incredibly people on these sites, who have helped me expand my mind, shocked me (in a good way) and have become more a part of my daily life and probably know me better than even my real life ‘life’ people.

It’s introduced me to a world of people who think the same way as me, who will allow people in and out of their lives based on what’s on the inside rather than the outside, or what they want people to perceive them as. I was at a point in my life where I was SO tired of losing “friends” because I didn’t want to pretend anymore, because I wanted to fight for things, rather than swear all the time and be a certain way (I swear people told me I should swear more because a certain girl they want to sleep with swears…a lot) I was tired of feeling like a bad person because people would literally tell me I should be more like “Girl A, or Girl B” or had to impress people to make life easier for themselves. I had someone tell me once I shouldn’t wear headbands, so now I wear them all the time when they’re around…I think my headbands are gorgeous!

I was tired of the same dramas I have been involved since High School, especially when I’m supposed to be in my 30’s and all the people still doing the drama’s are in their 30’s.

This is what you all brought me, you brought me a family that accepted me as one of your own, because of what I already bring, not what you think I can bring, or what you *think* I should bring.  You actually like having me around, for me ❤ I’m not sure you will ever understand how much freedom you have all give me, how much power you have given back to me.

Geeky Things

I am a bad online retail shopper, there are some things that I just wont buy. I find it much easier to actually visit the stores, so things like jeans and shoes I will go to the shops and buy from. Even though there are so many beautiful things online as well…Sometime you cannot trust that they are going to fit properly and well.

But these are not those things!

The amazing site “Think Geek.com (USA)” have this amazing section that I have just discovered and I wanted to share with you. The have a section specifically for “Book Lovers” and I WANT ALL THE THINGS!!!
