Well…Learn something new?

Breastfeeding Mum baby dies after single snake bit

Hopefully none of you are new parents, but hopefully this will be a learning tool for us all! Apparently not only did a mother die from a snake bite, but she then passed the poison onto her baby through her breast milk.

I’m just having a hard time with how long in-between times was the bite and the feeding of the child?

I’m going to do it!

So this is how this works right, I let you know what I’m want to do…This way I cannot back out!

For YEARS now I have wanted to learn how to start drawing. In my head I am such a visual person and I LOVE to start getting some of my ides onto paper. Instead of getting someone else to draw them for me. As beaitiful as the drawings are, it would save me so much more money if I did it myself, lol

The other thing that did occur to myself over the weekend was this. I LOVE the little creations that Little Fat Dragons, Plush Like Creatures etc

They make the cutest little creatures, but they are all overseas and a lot of the time not only are the expensive (but totally worth it)…but sometimes I miss the sales because of the time differences. I think they are mostly in the America areas…Why don’t I just start making my own?!

Learn Something New!

This post is definitely advocating for learning something new every day!

I would like to say that this post has to do with dementia and Alzheimer, if you know someone whose suffering from it. If you find the topic upsetting, please stop reading now. I actually am not enjoying writing this post,  I felt though it was a good one to share!

I learnt quiet a few interesting things over the weekend and I felt that I should share them with you.

Dementia and Alzheimer’s are probably two of the scariest things to get in this world. Something that I think a lot of us can agree that we do not want anything to do with. Yes, there are other things that are just as scary to get. There is just something terrifying about forgetting and not remembering.

Over the weekend though I learnt some interesting information about it.

  • Iron in the brain boosts Alzheimer (ABC Net – Science 20 May, 2015 – Anna Salleh). Now why that sounds terrifying since we have iron in our blood, it is something the body naturally reproduces. This is mainly aimed at people who are taking iron deficiency type tablets and do not need it.
  • There is a very good truth is learning something new every day! The article talks about learning something new all the time manages to keep off Alzhemier. By new things every day, they don’t mean playing a different puzzle on Sudoku. Doing things like going to musicals, learning a new language and even learning basic home plumbing has proven to be beneficial. (Learn something new to shield your brain from Alzhemier – Jan 9th 2017, Tony Dearing)

Did you know?

This is a totally “Did you know” joke…sarcasm..satire…It’s supposed to be funny

Did you know this? Did you hear about this?

I personally thought that this was something that literally every female artist has ever done before…as a “rite of passage” thing…But did you know that apparently Beyonce “invented”  having her dancers in a “formation”? Funny, I didn’t know that either! Personally I had thought it had always been around?! I could have sworn I’ve seen it somewhere else before?

That’s just me though *sips teas*

Welcome!

I thought that I would start this new Category of “Learn something new every day (or week). I thought since I am always preaching about learning something new every day, I thought that I’d start sharing something new that I’ve learnt during the week. I could try posting something every day, but we all know that I could NEVER keep that up! Now, you may be aware of what I write about, but to me it’s new and to others it could be as well. I encourage everyone to share what they know about what I write about.

Welcome to my very new post of “Learn something new every week”!

I wanted to start off with happy facts, since it’s been such a weird couple of weeks and it seems like there has been very little happiness out there lately.

Did you know that Cat’s don’t generally meow to each other? They generally only meow to human beings. When they “speak” with each other it’s generally through eye contact, body language and smell.

Every time

I have always felt like a new Monday, a new beginning to the week, is as good as time as any to say “Goodbye” to the old. Every time I feel like I’m saying goodbye to an old part of my life and starting anew, I always play this song…over and over…and over…and…over….and over again ~.^

What do you like to do when you say goodbye to an “old life?”

Getting started

This is for all my drawing/artist/creative type readers/Home Business followers…At the moment I have two casual jobs and while I enjoy both of them I am just not making enough money. I’m making enough to “survive” and luckily my partner and my mum charge me rent/bills on a percentage of what I make, rather than a set amount.

As I mentioned before I really do enjoy where I’m working at both places, I am really lucky that all my co-workers are lovely people and even with that one expected customer that’s always causing trouble. The work is good too, not to difficult that I just can’t do it, but keeps me busy and my mind off other things. Some weeks though I just don’t get the shifts, which when you’re a casual means, you get paid…well…nothing.

So this is where all my drawing/artist/creative type readers/Home Business followers come into play. I want to do something from home where I can make money as well. I love doing little crafty things and I would love to make a little business of bits and bobs. However, I have no idea where to start. So I was hoping that someone could give me ideas of any web pages or any sites that are good for people who want to get started, what sites are good to sell on, any legal information I may need. I was thinking of making things like:

  • Themed candles as well as just random scented
  • Handmade cards for all occasions
  • Flowery headbands
The Thinker
“The Thinker” created by Le Penseur

I am writing a couple of stories and am even writing what I call “script ideas” for a tv show for a role playing game that I used to play and I would love to be able to draw. I am a very visual person, but I am honestly also too lazy to learn how to draw properly. I can start and try, but I’d probably never get to the point where I could sell the art. The writing is mainly for myself and I’m not sure that I have to confidence to try and sell the ideas to someone either…It makes me feel kind of sad too at the same time as well. Who doesn’t want to be the next J.K. Rowling?

It’s just another Manic Monday

I had this whole plan to write a whole post about the last week, my new job and what I’ve learnt in the last week…What I’ve learnt in the last week though has been REALLY depressing. I don’t even want to talk about the depressing stuff, so I’m only going to talk about good things…I feel like a lot that people need to see more positive stuff, because we’ve stopped believing!

  • So I started my new job last Monday and I’ve been really loving it, the staff are lovely and they are using a American Library Management System and instead of using the term “Check In” like we usually do, on the LMS, it’s got the word “Discharge” instead…We all agree, it’s a gross term. It doesn’t even make sense…Discharge goes out, not in…ewwww, lol
  • The police officer who shot and killed teenager Jordan Edwards, (and into a car full of teenagers, who I can only imagine how traumatised they are now) is actually being charged with murder. I think that’s the first time I’ve ever heard of this happening. They usually get off, or get suspended…So something is changing! Whether he’ll be found guilty or not is another question. Now I just want to say I love the police and there are good ones out there, but it’s time to the bad ones start to be held accountable. The bad give the good ones a seriously bad reputation and it’s just not good enough!
  • All of my favourite streamers were streaming on Twitch on the weekend and it was SO much fun! Please check them out Stacey Roy  , Darshelle Stevens
  • I’m actually all organised with all my Mothers Days gift for my Mum this year over this weekend, instead of waiting till the day before next weekend.

Learn something new every day!

I am a BIG believer in learning something new every single day…Literally a huge believer in it, so I decided to test my theory on this. I got the idea from Dave’s Corner of the Universe … When better to do it then the month of my birthday? A whole new year, another year around the sun…sigh…lol…Although this will be coming all in one full post, I will be posting about something new that I learned that day. Whether that be about myself, someone else or just some random fact…Enjoy! Let’s learn together…

For the Month of April…

  1. Too much Heinz spaghetti in one toastie, will explode in the sandwich toaster.
  2. Scientologist/Scientology….BLOW MY MIND! How it’s all legal, is beyond me. Watch Louis Theroux and Leah Remini series.
  3. I can feel the difference now when I drink coffee and when I drink black/earl grey tea. How it heightens and how coffee buzzes with my mind, which does not help anxiety. Try and stop drinking coffee for two weeks and see how you feel with that first cup of joe after two weeks.
  4. People do NOT read the letters they are given. Then honestly expect you to give them…oh I don’t know…Their thousands of dollars school course for free, because they’ve waited till the last minute to setup their fees…Since they’ve gotten the final letter saying they’ll be taken to the debt collectors…Like that’s our fault? How surprising it is to see just SO many people NOT pay fees. I couldn’t live with it!
  5. Ian McKellen was asked to play Dumbledore
  6. Alligators are apparently more “placid” than Crocodiles.
  7. Sometimes when you feel a cold or the flu coming on…Do everything! Stay Warm, drink lots of tea, have some Panadol and have lots of vitamin C I swear that it holds it off.
  8. Even a sip of off milk can hurt/upset your stomach…Do not ask! If you’re not sure, throw it out.
  9. Karula the magnificent Leopard is feared dead, as we haven’t seen her in such a long time. I never thought I could feel so much dread of an animal I have never met.
  10. Possible sympathy cold? Can you get those?
  11. Napoleon abdicated willingly and was exiled.
  12. If you work hard enough, you always get where you want in the end.
  13. Having two days in a row to do nothing is truly something I may have too treasure soon! I can always say no, but I wont want to for a while.
  14. Is there any chocolate any better than dark peppermint chocolate?
  15. I got to watch April the Giraffe give birth live!
  16. My body is capable of a lot, I just wish my mind could catch up!
  17. Weather is really weird, when it’s changing from season to season and I never know how many jackets or cardigans to carry with me.
  18. Slenderman is freaking freaky and I haven’t even played the game! (Watching “Fear the Slenderman“…The true story of the two young girls who attempted to kill their “friend” to appease the Slenderman)
  19. In 1770 Captain James Cook first sighted Australia.
  20. Gators the latest in bush-walking fashion.
  21. I don’t think Instagram is the place to talk about Equality, unless you fit that persons “box”.
  22. Not sleeping well two nights in a row (just can’t sleep) really makes you feel unwell. Then sleeping during the day makes it harder to sleep at night, again.
  23. I love that we are STILL finding things like these ancient Egyptian Tombs, it really is fascinating. Another piece of a puzzle!
  24. Emperor Penguins have 100 feathers per square inch.
  25. Lest We Forget
  26. I heard the best quote today “We have learnt our rights, but we have not learnt our responsibilities”.
  27. The 27th of 2017 is #safarilive and WildEarth 10th birthday of streaming live feeds of streaming live safari’s…PLEASE CHECK THEM OUT!
  28. In 1770 Captain James Hook, aboard the Endeavour ship, lands at Botany Bay in Australia.
  29. There is absolutely a reason why they have Warnings on the packets of headache/pain tablets, about not drinking alcohol after you’ve taken them…Don’t ask,lol
  30. I have always believed that animals have emotions, but I’m not sure who else agrees.
