Stan a fictional character to be alone.

My partner was watching the new Harley Quinn and Ivy tv show, that’s too violent for kids and Quinn is voiced by Hayley Cuoco.

I haven’t watched it, but my partner has been and he brought up a really interesting thought and it got me thinking. Why can’t a cartoon just be alone?

My partner was talking about how in this new show, he didn’t know if Ivy was actually interested in either Kiteman or Harley. That she as portrayed in this cartoon as very apathetic. It had me thinking, in every portrayal I have seen of Poison Ivy, I have never once thought of her as a “sexual” being. I’ve never thought of her being with anyone. I started to realise that I have only ever seen her as asexual.

Is that weird?

She just doesn’t seem that interested in the human race, at all. Her thing does seem to be plants and only plants. She knows she can use her sexual prowess, but she’s not actually sexual herself.

The closest that I could think of her actually being interested in someone, was Dr Freeze. That was because he could help her plants grow.

Even with the whole Kiteman and Harley Quinn, she seems to flip flop with both of them. I think you can be in love with two people at the same time, but there is always someone else you prefer, just that little bit more. Whenever she leaves one, or is left, she doesn’t seem that upset with it.

We have so much representation these days, why not have a popular character, that is kick ass, just doesn’t NEED a partner. I know we live in a very much “relationship” obsessed society. But there are people out there, having no problem being alone.

Put Up or Shut Up!

Oh god, I am SO over entitled angry nerds!

For some reason, my partner decided to watch this guy who was rambling on about how the next Star Wars film had better make over $800 million and that the fans have warned them…Blah, blah, blah. Warned them…What?

Whatcha gonna do? Kill them? People are going to go and see these movies. They may not be as popular as the 70’s but you know what? So they shouldn’t be either! I think film makers are getting lazy these days.

But it just makes me angry that these angry nerds, do threats like that. Do they not even know how entitled they sound? I get not liking stuff, I don’t even really any of the newer Star Wars, but I wouldn’t go around saying “I’ve warned you”. If you think you can do better, than GO AND DO IT! Instead of whining from behind a screen, go and make a screen! … So to speak.

I literally had to ask my partner to turn it off, it sounded so whiny!

The world is starting to and definitely feels like it’s falling apart all around us and they are threatening film makers, because they wont go and do it themselves? At one point he was mad because he felt the last Directors (of course mainly angry at the female Directors *rolls eyes*) Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy wont apologise…

…For what, exactly?

Just because you choose not like something, does not mean, angry little nerds, that you are then owed an apology? I certainly didn’t expect after the disaster that was Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith…I mean they made “Darth Vader” probably the most well known villain in movie History, a whiny teenager -.- Now THAT was a disaster!

Did I send hate though? No? Was I still able to tell people I didn’t like it? Yes…Did I still go to the other films…Yes =D

So too all those angry nerds…Make this the year or either put up…or it’s time to shut up!

So I am going to try and make these last couple of weeks of posts, a little bit more fun. It’s not been a great year for anyone really. So lets go out with some fun!

“Ship” or “Shipping” in the ‘nerd’ world does not have anything to do with actual ships. It’s where you “ship” two characters together, they can come from the anywhere “Nerdomhood”. Televisions shows, comics, movies, books. Who have not gotten together for whatever reasons…So do you have any characters that you wish were together? I’ll list a couple of mine:

• Captain Janeway and Chakotay
• Tessa and Will…If you’ve read the book, you’ll get it…Because they do “get together” but there’s a twist.
• DS Camille Bordey and DI Richard Poole

When the movies is worse than the Book

I have not posted “The Nerd Life” post in such a long time, and I cannot deny that it feels good!

I don’t know how many of you follow me on Instagram (find me here:Lady Lolsy) If you do you would have seen my story when I was the XMEN movie and how they nearly ruined one of “my girls” Rogue with that stupid movie! I have basically never watched another one of the movies since. The only ones I have watched were the Wolverine ones and I didn’t even see the second to last one. I only saw the last one because my partner dragged me along. I got so bored during it.

Anyways, I’m digressing…again…

The movies really ruined the books for me, but not the tv series or the comics. It got me thinking. Have any of you ever had a movie or book ruin the movie or book for you?

Streaming? Too do it or not too do it?

I watch and have a few friends that stream and it seems like it would be so much fun too do! However a lot of my friends who do Stream say that it’s much more horrible for girls. They get targeted a lot!

Where does one start with Streaming anyway?

The most interesting game I probably play is The Sims. I do play Guild Wars 2 as well, but since I am part of a Guild, I can’t really use them as well.

It’s a hard-knock life

*I am just going to start off this post with a disclaimer…I am a girl, I do like to play games. I am not a guy and so will be speaking about my perspective about it. I do not hate men, I think they are adorable. This is just something that’s been on my mind a little lately…So let’s share!*

I do believe that world of gaming and geekiness (don’t think that’s an actual word) is definitely becoming more accepting, especially those of the girl gender. We’re still hitting some blocks though, when it comes to “preference” and different opinions…Although to be honest I think that goes for a lot of what’s happening lately. It’s your way or the highway.

What disturbs me though are those people, if they don’t like, or they can’t understand what that other person is saying “your opinion is invalid”.

I HATE IT WHEN SOMEONE SAYS THAT! Even if I don’t agree with what they’ve said, I HATE it when someone says that. It’s one of my pet peeves.

I was in the middle of a Twitter discussion the other day and this guy said that he found when cosplayers do characters just in their underwear, he considered it too be lazy…and OHMYGOODNESS! He was being attacked and everyone was saying they didn’t care about his opinion and it was invalid. The ironic thing was, that’s what the discussion was about. About cosplayers and what actually constitutes a “costume”. I also have too say…sometimes I agreed with him. We were both severely outnumbered, but I stand by what he and I said. Sometimes I find it cute, like there was a range of Disney Princess bathing suits that was modelled by cosplayers, and I loved it. However, sometimes I think it is lazy when they’re just wearing a wig and matching coloured underwear for a character. Especially if they didn’t even make the underwear.

It’s just an opinion though.

They just leave me uninspired. It’s JUST an opinion.

It’s also the same with games as well…There are always people disagreeing over the graphics in a game.

This however was taken to an EXTREME!…And not in a good way!

This is what I think bothers me the most. Is that this “people” were sending these threats over a game…a freaking game! A games graphics is not a life and death situation that should be affecting someones life in such a deadly way.

These “gamer’s” priorities in life are completely skewed.

Apart from the very obvious things that are wrong with threatening someone over graphics. Do they not want girls to get into gaming? Do they only want girls to be crept out and never allow them to play their games again? This isn’t exactly the BEST way to make other women and girls want to play. I know when I saw what was going on, I made a conscious decision not to the buy the games…BECAUSE I don’t want to run into any of those douche bags.

Plus…with the cliche saying…If you think you can do it better, then do it.

I can’t believe that I’ve missed this!

I am a HUGE Marvel fan and I do have to say that I am enjoying them a lot more than the DC series…Even though I love both the different worlds. (Harley Quinn is my favourite).

The Marvel movies just seem to be that little more “extra”. As someone pointed out, Marvel have been taking years to do their movies, whereas DC are coming out all at once. Even with the little extra bits that Marvel give you during the end credits, it just makes it a little more ‘special’.

Are you a DC or a Marvel fan? Are you enjoying one set of movies over the others, or are you enjoying them pretty much the same? Or do you just flat out hate one, or both?

Twitching to Twitch

I finally thought of something to write about, something that is really quiet magical to myself and I hope that it becomes magical to you as well.

I call myself a “creeper twitcher” which basically means that I watch a lot of Twitch streaming…

What is Twitch, I hear you ask? (Maybe)

Twitch or Twitch tv is probably the leading platform when it games to live streaming gamers and their games. More than 45 millions…that’s million…gamer use Twitch to live stream their games and other related live gaming type entertainment. This can be anything for watching other people play, people who cosplay making their latest costumer to food and drink. Some people will just literally streaming themselves having a party.

I call myself a “creeper twitcher” because I watch quiet a few twitchers. Some are harder to watch than others just purely because of the time different. As I’ve mentioned before it is LIVE…So this means because we are watching people from all over the world, sometimes you do miss a favourite twitcher. However, there a couple of Australians I LOVE to watch and luckily, they like to Twitch a lot as well!

I have often thought about becoming a Twitcher myself, instead of just stalking everybody on it. I just do not have the guts to do it! I honestly feel like that people on the Twitch community are becoming celebrities on their right. A new media for celebrity maybe?

SDCC

SDCC or San Diego Comic Convention was just held over the past weekend, and is probably the biggest “Nerd Convention” held all year! Unfortunately being Australian means it is a VERY expensive trip, but it is something that is on my “bucket list”

One of the things that is free though are the trailers…Oh soooooo many trailers! So many lovely movie trailers. So many lovely DC and Marvel movie trailers, I have been watching them obsessively over the last couple of days and I am so excited about all the movies coming out!!!
