This week Bookmark Chronicles would like to know:

Did you have a favorite book as a kid? (before the age of 13)

If so, what was it and what was it about?

There is really only one book that instantly came to my mind when I saw this weeks question.

Linnea in Monet’s Garden (Amazon Link)

I still have this book and it is still one of my favourites and I hope to pass it on to my children. The reason it was my favourite childhood book wasn’t even because of the writing though, or even the most gorgeous pictures (it is about Monet after all). I’ve also always had a soft spot for Monet, because of this book.

The reason I loved this book so much was because I could have sworn that the book was about my Great-Grandfather, who I was incredibly close too, before he passed away. I honestly believed that Monet WAS my Great Grand-Father and I so I thought that this book was about us. I can’t even remember who actually gave it too me, it was probably my Grandmother (his daughter) as she was a Librarian, but I couldn’t swear to that.

It probably sounds really sad, but it’s the first book I can remember and it was the first book that also got me reading.

What is your favorite piece of art? (it doesn’t have to be famous)

Monet is probably my favourite artist of all time and pretty much for sentimental reasons really. When I was little I thought for a long time that Monet, was in fact, my great grandfather. Monet looked a lot like my Great-Grandfather. There was this book called “Linnea in Monets Garden” and I could have sworn that Linnea was myself,lol. I would love to own this painting.

What made you smile today?

Well I am actually writing this on the Tuesday and it was having a heart-to-heart with my boyfriend that day and clearing things up and becoming closer and getting to know each other more. Today though this will be posted on Thursday after completely my first week of work, I have no doubt that I am happy right now.

Which place do you recommend as a Must-See? Please state which country, state or providence.

Oh my there are a lot of places I would recommend, some I would recommend for only a couple of days, others I would suggest that you stay for a while. Some of my favourite places to visit at any time (can also depend on the weather as well) are: Victor Harbour (beautiful beach town), Hanhdorf, The Blue Mountains and anywhere in Queensland anywhere,lol.

be able to hide the highest in the trees, above my cousins and my brothers, and it was great! They never thought to look where they couldn’t go!

Monet

Monet…Probably not who you expected to see on a Magical Monday post, I hope you are pleasantly surprised. I am turning 30 this month and it has been making me doing the usual considering where I am in life, sentimental and thoughtful of my past.

One of the reasons that I have always had a soft spot for Monet, is because when I was a little girl. I use to believe that Monet was my Great Grandfather. In fact there is a book about Monet called “Linnea in Monets Garden” and I have had it since I was a little girl. I thought that this whole book was about my Great Grandfather.

My GG and I were close and it was unfortunate that he was only a part my life for such a short amount of time. So, for me, my relationship and having my Great Grandfather in my life was an extremely magical time for me. One that I still wish I could recreate, but I’m not really sure it will happen again.
