So this is not a post about HOW to live longer. I think that’s pretty well covered, but I was talking to my mum about my Gran’s current situation. At the beginning of the year, it was discovered that she had, in fact, a mini stroke. Now we’ve known something has been off with her for a little while. It’s always good though to have a reason.
What my mum and I were talking about though is how her grandparents went, and is it really so great being able to live longer these days? Yes, lives may have been shorter, but usually only by a few years, and when they went, they want. Both her grandparents just dropped one day.
Whereas now, they probably could have lived, but at what quality of life? Both my great grandparents, like their daughter (my Gran) had really extraordinary minds. Its not like now with my Gran, we watch as her and her amazing mind slowly drift away =/
Sorry for the morbidity.
It has made me think though, what’s the point of a long life, if there’s no quality too it. We shouldn’t be looking at JUST how to live longer, but also how to have a longer QUALITY of life.
I follow a really beautiful person on Instagram…Chronically Courtney. Now Courtney is vaccine injured…BUT…Please read further before heading to her account and blasting. She still tells people to get vaccines, just do research before you get them. Which is just common sense, really?. Nothing is 100% guaranteed. What I REALLY love about her, specifically though, is that even though there are times her body flares up, and she gets unexpectedly upset. SHE KEEPS GOING. She has not let it “end” her life.
Which brings me too my blog topic today. One of the annoying things about her account, not her. Is that every time she makes a post about vaccine injury. Even when she SAY HERSELF, get the vaccines, do research. I guarantee you that anti-vaxxers jump on with the whole “Thank you Courtney, we should get rid of all vaccines…They have DESTROYED so many lives”.
I feel insulted for her sometimes, Courtney doesn’t really strike me as the type who thinks her life is destroyed. Her injury, has inspired her to do more. Heck, I’m nearly double her age…nearly…and she’s doing a lot more than I ever have.
About a year after my huge anxiety attack, people kept telling me to take this product called “Seremind”. It’s a lavender tablet. So I did…I took it for the whole month and I hardly got any sleep. So I stopped taking it and people weren’t…exactly annoyed, but…annoyed, lol…That I wouldn’t keep taking it. About another 6 months after that I was drinking my usual cup of chamomile tea before bed. Then it hit me, what about chamomile! I always drink it before bed and it helps, I always drink it if I’m feeling anxious and it helps.
So I started taking that about a year ago, still taking it.
As you can see though, even thought the majority of people take Seremind, it just didn’t work for myself. But Chamomile “Tablets” and tea do.
It’s just the way life is.
Which is one of the other things that annoys me about those anti-vaxxers. All of them go on about how they’re better than say someone like me. Who they clearly have no idea about. Because I “worship” western medication. Which isn’t true. So many of them call themselves “Pagans” or “Wicca”s, not realising that that is a belief system. I, myself, to use both Western and Eastern medication. I do do research before I start to take something.
There was this one “Wicca” who came onto one of Courtney’s post. Going onto complete strangers posts and making uninformed comments about them. I saw that she has apparently been taking something natural since the middle of last year to make her less judgemental…I couldn’t stop laughing,so I wrote “Well this clearly isn’t working”. Well that was a mistake, lol. She told me I ruined Courtney’s message. I was called hateful, and she’d appreciate it if I could stop making armchair assessments on her, since I didn’t know her. So I did the laughing emoticon again and reminded her that she chose to write armchair judgemental comments on people she doesn’t know. I just thought it was funny that someone who claims to be better than others because she’s all “natural” is not only taking something to make her less judgemental, but it clearly isn’t working for her, lol. But these others were medicine worshippers, because they think you should research before you take anything?
Update: (this is happening a lot lately, lol). I have now actually unfollowed Courtney, lol. While her message is generally thoughtful and kind. Like with a lot of people lately, she seems to have gone one way or another. ie vaccines are evil. I still stand by though, if you are vaccine injured. It does NOT mean the end of your life (like a lot of these anti-vaxxers say it is). You just have to find a different way to live it.
I honestly prefer a shower. I really like the idea of a bath, but usually after about 5 minutes I either get tired and sleepy, or I get bored. Although with a shower I can stand for hours and perfectly be happy and not be bored.
What do you do to make a living or during the day? If you are retired what mostly occupies your day? Or if you are a student what are you studying?
I work two casual jobs, one is at an adult entrance type school and I help students enrol, set up their fees etc. That job has busy and quiet periods, so sometimes I’ll be working every day and then can go a few weeks with no work (usually over the Christmas period). My other work place is within a council Library (there are about 5). Since I’ve been sick though, I have not heard from the Library, it’s depressing really =/
Is there a stuffed animal in your bedroom?
Only one? I’ve got a few…and another on the way! It’s a large Yoda, and I want to use it to meditate with =D I am getting rid of a few, to make up for it. I did promise to myself (and my mum) that if I got the Yoda, I would get rid of some others. No specific number, but I know which ones are going.
What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.
I have just been really productive this week and it has meant that my anxiety has been really alright this week.
If you had to have your vision corrected would you rather: glasses or contacts? Or what do you use if you need to have your vision corrected?
Glasses! I can’t imagine having to try and put something in my eye >.< lol
Are you more of a dog person or a cat person?
Before I met my partners cat, I was more of a dog person. I didn’t hate cats or anything, I just got along better with dogs. When I met my partners cat though, it was like love at first sight =D lol He was just so sweet and affectionate, and sometimes when my partner hugs his cat, they end up fighting, lol…Nothing nasty, they just like to stir each other up and I swear that his cat looks at me like “Why aren’t you helping me out here?lol
If you were to buy a new house/apartment what is the top three items on your wish list?
My partner and I have actually talked about this before. We would both love to have a room where we can could display things. We both have a few things, that are just in a cupboards that need to be just shown. Hopefully to have everything working well. An amazing bathroom, where you can look out at a nice view, but people couldn’t look in!
What inspired you this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.
There is a reason that I wrote my Post this week about Twitch. I was having a really rough day last Friday and I haven’t been that bad in a really long time. I was very lucky though and I went and watched the Twitch streamer Bajo Luckily that day that he was doing a really amazing stream and he did a charity stream that raised $2000.00 in a hour! Listening to people’e story was hard, but neither could I stop listening. It was amazing. Please check him out!
What one thing have you not done that you really want to do?
Oh wow, this is a good question! There is so much that I have not done yet that I really want too. Just even simple things, I would love to be brave enough to bleach my hair and dye it a bright red or a gorgeous purple. There are even simple things that I want too do that I have yet too do.
How often do you get a haircut?
This is a really good question, since my hair is probably at this moment right at the top of my behind, possibly a little below there. I don’t think I’ve cut it in months, I reckon it might even be around August last year. That was when I first developed my anxiety and I had a hard time just sitting and being patient. Now I’ve just gotten to the place where I can’t be bothered cutting it, but I need too. My hair keeps getting caught on doorknobs and things.
In regards to puzzle what’s your choice: jigsaw, crossword, word search or numeric puzzles?
I love a good word search. It really does get my attention focused.
How many cities have you lived? You can share the number of physical residences and/or the number of cities.
I guess that I lived in two altogether. The first is the city where I currently live at the moment, South Australia. The other city that I have mainly lived in was Arizona. I was dating someone from there, and the first time I went over there everyone thought that I was crazy. Now I look back and I can’t even believe that I did this. I don’t think that I could do it now.
I feel very lucky with the town that I live in. You may sometimes read about one of my pages called Single in a small city? (Please go and have a look) The main theme from that category is that it can sometimes be really tough to date when you live in a small city. You either tend to keep bumping into your ex, or you are definitely friends with people who know them.
However, my city being a small city is part of the reason that I love it as well.
It feels so easy to escape when you want too. You drive from the city (or down town) and in 30 minutes you can be in a totally different place, the country, the river-land, beach towns. Even take my own street, we live a 10 minutes drive from the city (down town) and yet my street reminds myself and other people have made comments of it reminding them of a little English town street. Even though we live within a walks distance to some of the big entertainment venues in our city, you can’t hear it. It feels cut off from that.
My particular suburb is also in-between three major roads in my city that go into the city, and yet, where I live, you can’t hear the traffic. I honestly just wished that other people lived closer to me because no one else lives in my area but it’s great. We’ve got parks and like I mentioned before we live like a 10 minute drive from the city and just as close to another major shopping centre.
*Now I have to start by saying, I’m from Australia, so we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here…But I do like thinking about what I’m grateful for*
On Thursday it will be Thanksgiving in the USA and I thought we could do a grateful list for this week. Most of these questions can be answered with just a couple of words, just put down the first thing that comes to mind. Yes, I know you writers will never use just one or two words to respond to any question.
What are you grateful for in regard to:
Your home life?
I feel SO safe in my home life, ever since I developed my weird anxiety. There are two only places I don’t suffer from it all, my home and my partners home. It’s been very annoying, lol
Your family?
My mums side especially, we are all so completely different and yet we get along so well. We’re the only family I know that actually enjoy hanging out together with everyone. With no fear of judgement for our differences. We have gay, straight, religious, atheist, sporty, geeky, quiet, loud. We’re small side too.
Your blogging community?
I love it! I can’t explain it, but I do. I don’t personally know anyone here, but I love it. I feel happy when I’m Blogging.
Your city or immediate area in which you live?
I am mainly living with my Mum at the moment, but spending more and more time at my partners house. I live close to everything major in my little town, but my street seems cut off. It’s fantastic! Close to everything, but can cut myself from the world when I need too.
The regional area in which you live?
We are pretty close to a lot of different things, some of the main attractions in my area. Entertainment, social, can choose to go picnic or a nice restaurant dinner.
The country where you live?
Australia is a great country, sure we have our faults, but what country doesn’t? I feel like we are pretty lucky here.
You?
I keep fighting, lately I’ve been feeling very fobbed off at a time of year people should be helping each other out. Making life a little bit easier. I had to put in a complaint recently to a company and I have never had to do that before.
I actually had two I really enjoyed, but one was was made better than the other just by how one subject was treated. I LOVED my classical studies class because my teacher was the teacher who discovered my dyslexia, rather than just ignoring it. So he’d go through my projects and papers with me. It was the only class I got A’s and B’s in. I also really loved Drama, but my teacher would always pick the same people for the best parts. I felt such satisfaction though at the end of year play. In the main play, I was more eye candy than acting. However, I was the lead in the short play before the main play. My group got praised and the actors in the main play got slammed. It feels evil of me now, but I was a little happy, because I had so many of the others actors come up to me during rehearsal and say “What are you even doing here, you’ve only got one line”?
If you could have a servant come to your house every day for two hours, what would you have them do?
Can they do the Garden? It’s really the only thing I don’t get any fulfilment from. I’m just lucky in terms that my partner and my Mum, may not necessarily be overjoyed doing the gardening, but they don’t hate it like I do. I’m sure they’d appreciate getting some help for it though.
Where did you live when you were in the third grade of school? Is it the same place or town you live now?
I lived in a different place to where I lived when I was in third grade. Some of my family live near the area and we tend to go past it on the way back, just to see if anything has changed.
In your opinion, list some places that are great for shopping?
I love places like Kmart, Big W and Target…and Neds!
Zing Pop…It’s probably my favourite place, but it’s full of nerdy type things. Like figurines, superhero clothing, nerdy/geeky accessories. It’s not full of “practical” things, lol.
Lovisa is my favourite jewellery accessory store. They always have some kind of sale or special on. EVERY time I go in there I buy something else.
What household chore do you absolutely hate doing?
I hate cleaning the toilet! It doesn’t even matter if the toilet actually looks clean, I just hate cleaning it. I feel like I’m going to throw up into, even when it’s clean.
What was the last URL that you bookmarked?
African Safari Camera … In all 100% seriousness, I only added this one a few days ago. Before this one it had been a long while.
Close your eyes. Listen to your body. What part of your body is seeking attention? What is it telling you?
My head … I kind of lost my job this week, I’m only a causal so they can let me go at any-time, but I was expecting it be extended…And now I’m just lost as to what to do.
Would you rather have a two-bedroom apartment in a big city of your choosing or a mansion in the country side in the state or country where you currently live?
Oh gee! I have no idea, they both sound really good! Can I have both? Probably a two-bedroom apartment, only because in all honesty, I think that it might be more practical for me.
