Over the weekend…and the things I did not get

I didn’t go on Twitter, which I loved, lol. I went on once, because I got a direct message asking why I’d gone so quiet.

Before I went off there for the weekend, and mainly only going on the others to thank people for birthday wishes. I saw that Laura Ingraham tweet. And apart from the obvious, that she was a cruel person for making her mother work as a waitress to pay off her Ingraham’s loan. She admits that SOMEONE ELSE paid off her loan. So what exactly is she complaining about? She didn’t pay it off, according to herself, her mother did it. Laura has had good jobs over that time, so why wasn’t she paying it herself?

Why are people like this? I feel like I am always asking this at the moment, but honestly why are people like this?!lol Have they always been like this?

I know that bigotry and hatred can rot the brain, but really, why are people this dumb?lol

Not a cult though, totally

I don’t know if you heard the whole who-haa about Rowling not being on the Queen’s Jubilee Lists. But she’s not on it, lol. Neither are a lot of authors that I would have excepted. What it made me do though was to go and look up a few things about authors and books. It’s quiet interesting.

You’d think that Rowling is the only female author to have ever existed.. Not true (though you all know this).

Did you know that Rowling is NOT the top selling female author of all time, and is not even the top children’s authors? Too be fair she is number 2, 3 and 4 for best selling children’s books. She is not top though for either category. For best selling female author of all time, she’s either number 3 or 4.

So, to get off that topic. Who do you think is the actual top selling female author of all time? She is a classic of all time author, still shocked she doesn’t have a novel on the Jubilee List. However, the list seems alright. This author has only been outsold by the Bible (lol) and Shakespeare.

(Answer at the bottom)

Do you know who has sold the most children’s books? Again, probably not who you think it! I thought it was her above, again though, it is not.

(Answer at the bottom)

I wasn’t that into the HP books, and now I refuse to buy anything, even second hand HP. Throughout this whole debacle though. It’s been interesting to see how many people have let her get away with a LOT of horrible things for such a long time. Every day I learn something new about the HP world, and it leaves me going … WTF, haha

Yesterday, as an example, I found out that in the books. Umbridge, is kidnapped by Centaurs and it’s implied she was sexually assaulted. At some point this memory is triggered, by Ron, and he laughs at her. Can you imagine my utter shock when I found this out? lol

So when I see people say that someone like her just suddenly fell to the wrong side. I always ask now when was she actually on the left? What had she actually done to prove that she was “left”. For years now, every time these problems, the lazy racism, the anti-Semitism, she ALWAYS brushed it under the carpet. I don’t think she’s EVER been left leaning, it’s just that, the transphobia, took.

Look whose coming to dinner

So I was talking to my coworker and we were talking about who we would invite to dinner. The usual, if you could have 6 people to dinner, who would you and why? It was so funny because as I’ve gotten older this has changed. When I was younger it was all about who I thought was “Hot”…Hot to Trot.

As we were talking, I realised how much I ‘d want to have dinner with people who’ve led an interesting life. I want to hear about interesting things these days:

World Radio Day

How many of us still listen to the radio? I actually still do, but usually only when I’m in a car. As I also have an ipod shuffle and I listen to that a lot and just add and edit as I go along. Do you have a favourite radio station? I find that I am constantly changing with radio stations I listen to as well. The presenters change, the feel changes. Sometimes they’ll change the time of the presenters. It’s such a fickle business.

Threatened Species Day (Australia)

There are just so many important calendar days, I have no idea how to keep up with them all!

Today is National Threatened Species Day in Australia. A chance to take notice and how to help to protect our native fauna and flora This Day was declared in 1996, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the death of the last remaining Tasmanian tiger in 1936.

Autopsy!

You didn’t see that one coming, did you?!

I don’t normally write about television shows, but this one is amazing and I just wanted to share…My partner gives me “Not this again” eyes, when I try telling him about the newest episode.

Autopsy: The Last Hours of…Is about certain well known, mainly celebrities who have died seemingly before their time, or have a lot of Myths surrounding their deaths. It does take into account some of the Myths, because sometimes the Myths to do have some truth to them. The deaths are investigated by either one of three different forensic pathologist/psychologist.

  • Dr Richard Shepherd – Has been in the most episodes.
  • Dr Anjula Mutanda
  • Jason Payne-James

So far the ones that I have seen are about Michael Hutchence (INXS), Robin Williams, Bruce Lee and Marilyn Monroe. As well as some I have not yet seen (the show is usually on here at 11pm at night on a ‘work night’) Such as Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Maurice Gibbs and Janis Joplin. There were a couple of others that I have seen, but they have been a little less known. The show is narrated by Iain Glen (aka Jorah Mormont).

If you are interested in the mind and are kind of interested in how peoples minds work before their deaths, this is a good show for that. This isn’t really a “crime” show because none of these people died while necessarily committing a crime. It’s all about what lead up to their deaths and what it might have been like for them in the last 25 hours of their lives. How possibly, if it all, their deaths could have been prevented.

Take the Bruce Lee “case” for example, an injury roughly three year prior to his death…Ultimately caused his death. A slipped disc three years prior meant that Bruce Lee started to take steroids quiet regularly. We know now the dangers of constant steroid taking, but Bruce Lee and I doubt the people around him knew that much about it at the time. Only a couple of months earlier he had collapsed and the only reason he did not die that particular time was because they were able to get to the hospital on time.

Whereas and probably the saddest one that I watched was about Robin Williams and while ultimately he died by his own hands. There were SO many factors in his death, not just that he was “unhappy”. You probably have heard rumours that Robin Williams had Parkinson or something similar. It was determined that Robin Williams died by Lewy Body Dementia.

Lew Body Dementia is a rare form of Dementia and something that I would not wish on my worse enemy, let alone Robin Williams, who brought so much joy. It not only causes your usual dementia symptoms, but it becomes much more severe. It’s almost like you have Parkinsons AND Alzheimer together, on top of that the person suffering is more like to suffer from extreme hallucinations.

While the above is depressing, it’s made me realise that Robin Williams it STILL a hero to me when it comes to mental health. I’m sure if he hadn’t of had Lewy he would have fought his depression.

Back on topic…

If this seems like an interest to you, please watch it! It is completely fascinating.
