Share Your World … Week 1 (2016)

Share Your World

As a child, who was your favorite relative?

I LOVED my Uncle Adam, he was my favourite. He was the youngest out of all my Mum and Dads siblings, so I guess he was just more “fun” than the other siblings (other Aunts and Uncles).

If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?

I think that I would like to be a Lily, they are gorgeous! I know that they are considered the “death flower”but they are so gorgeous and glamorous, I love having them in my house.

What would be your preference, awake before dawn or awake before noon?

This is actually a tricky one, I love to sleep (my second favourite Disney princess is Aurora aka “Sleeping Beauty”) Also during Summer it gets SO hot in my room, that I end up waking up a lot of the time before Dawn any-ways,lol … I if I had to choose it would actually be before dawn, as long as I felt refreshed. As bad as a procrastinator as I am I hate to think I’ve wasted a day.

Would you like to sleep in a human size nest in a tree or be snuggled in a burrowed spot underground?

Definitely a human size nest, I don’t really like to feel confined, one of my fears is to be buried alive, so to think of being underground all fitted in, kind of scares me.

Saving the Barbie!

I have been seeing Barbie copping a lot of flack and I feel like somebody needs to speaks up for her because I find it frustrating. I used to play with Barbie when I was little and I think I turned out, reasonably, alright =P Barbie should be a role model for the imagination which is exactly what I used her for.

She’s a doll, and although I am not a parent and understand I may cop flack for saying “parenting things”. Maybe your biggest fear shouldn’t be a doll. Maybe your biggest fear is thinking that a doll, repeat doll, should be the one teaching your children about their self esteem in the first place? I never once thought that I should look like Barbie, I wanted all her careers, I used my Barbie’s and created many different worlds with them. I use to host a radio show with my Barbies, had them be rock and roll stars, psychic, mummies and daddies. I even learnt about disabilities because my Ken lost his legs. Barbie has had many different careers and many different versions, she (and Ken) how to imagine.

Even with her television show, she’s not a “mean girl”, she’s all about friendships, how to work hard and how to be kind to others? So I am not really sure why suddenly we are putting Barbie in a category she doesn’t belong in?

I think as adults we put too much of our own fears into children and that’s when the problem happens. We do not give children enough credit, they will notice that you “fear” Barbie. Technically shouldn’t you fear ALL dolls then and the self esteem issues that they will give your children?

Stop letting other “things” teach your children, because they learn from us. It never once crossed my mind once to want to look like her? I’m going to be blunt here and maybe some wont like it. If your child has self esteem issues because of a doll, repeat doll, maybe it’s not the dolls fault? Maybe it’s the adults in her life? Maybe we should start taking responsibility again for raising our children?

Most importantly Barbie taught me how to play, by myself and with others.

Living Doll

You may notice that I have a theme today, but it’s that time of year and I get all silly and nostalgic, but these dolls are just stunning! The hours it must take to create these … I think that 2016 is going to be the year that I get back into my creative side again … I definitely have gotten my confidence back, it’s time to do something with that. If you have a “thing” against Barbie, what about these ones?

… And just for something a little silly

Make your own Magic

Over the weekend I read a post on Facebook and it went something like this “JK Rowling shuts down a major Harry Potter fan theory (radio times)” The comments were pretty much about how stupid people could believe this and so on and so forth.

As I was reading this and I saw the other articles relating to how all these theories were being disapproved (and so on and so forth) it started to really bug me.

I am a big believer in the magic of books, if people want to believe that Draco Malfoy is some secret werewolf, then they are entitled to believe that. I am really starting to dislike all these authors coming out and saying “Well no, this is right, this is wrong” and watching others call other ‘stupid’ for going against it. When did a world of magic have to become so real?

If you want to believe that Draco Malfoy is secretly a werewolf and Harry Potters son got into the house of Slytherin…GO FOR IT! #UseYourImagination!!!

Childhood memories

I really struggled today with what I was going to write for today’s session of “Magical Monday” Mainly because I got food poisoning and then my partner got the flu. So I’ve been really trying to think of different posts to write about, its’s been a struggle I can tell you.

However, while I’ve been sick I received two DVD’s of “movies” that I used to watch obsessively as a child and have been watching them while I’ve been sick. One was the “ice-skating spectacular” with ice skating superstars Dean and Torvill  called “Fire and Ice”. I also purchased the Royal Ballet production of “Beatrix Potter”.

I used ot watch these two obsessively whenever I was at my Grandparents, as well as “The Red Shoes” (but I still have to purchase them).

So readers did you have any favourite movies or shows that you used to be obsessed with as a child? Maybe share something that you think no one has ever heard of before.

Celestial

A little while ago I purchased a Dragon baby from the incredibly talented Little Fat Dragons (Facebook page). Below is a picture of the little Dragon I “adopted” and I finally thought of a name for her!

The reason that I making this post today is because I want to create a little home for her (with more brothers and sisters coming along) I have no idea where to start to make a home for her! Do I make a cage, do I make a nest?

For the love of reading!

I found this amazing Blog posting this week that I just fell in love with and felt that all my readers should read this post too!

Coffee, books, and a tale to tell. A day at the bookstore.

I am also a people watcher and many probably wouldn’t believe it, but I struggle in social situations as well. I have gotten better over the years, but I love to people watch, but I don’t want to be watched!

If I had a child, I would encourage them to read whatever it they wanted too. I couldn’t imagine being a parent, or an adult and look down on anyone who wants to read whatever it is they want too.

Crafternoon!

I cannot believe that I have not written about this before! About once a month myself and a group of girls (although guys are very welcomed to join us as well) and we do crafts! This can be anything from sewing, making little clay-type characters, colouring in (for those who have come with a hangover)…Anything!

The reason for my post today is that I am looking for ideas for my current project. I recently bought a unique figurine for a beautiful little dragon, it’s no bigger than average size of a women’s hand. I have decided to make a little nest for it, in my room…YAY to inner child! I’ve got the basket I want for it and I am going to be making it a little more nesty….BUT…I have no idea what I should put in there as well?

Any ideas?
