Recharge

I honestly feel like I need an entire recharge, I don’t know how else to push forwards. It’s only Tuesday! I don’t know why, but II really thought maybe the Right would be kind for even a minute. I was wrong.

I just want to spend some time swapping ideas, about how one can recharge themselves.

See, I’m in funk and I would love to hear about other people’s ways to recharge. I’m going to be honest, I would totally love to see if one of you have a way that I can steal for myself, lol.

Most of the time, the first thing I do is just come off social media. Then I’ll sit for a little bit and see what either my mind or my body says it needs. That can be anything from just reading to having a bath, having a good cry, a good whine. Listening to music or watching comedies all night.

I day dream like a super hero! Sometimes, I just nap. And I always listen to at least one or two Enya songs!

When you read a good article

I love it when you come by a good article, and you can see yourself so much in it.

“White Psychodrama” and the culture wars: A self-reinforcing cycle, going nowhere

Émile P. Torres – 20h ago

Firstly, I don’t buy into the “culture wars”, I get it gets people to read an article. I hate it when it’s written like that though. There is no “culture war”, it’s just right vs wrong. There is no “culture” in banning books, banning human beings from being them, banning abortions. That’s not a “culture” that’s just wrong.

I’m just going to post a couple of post quotes from the article. It’s quiet a long article, and it was quiet funny. They allowed comments on there, and all the usual “suspects” aka supressors were saying how bad it was. I started to laugh because I know they had feel “seen” in the article, IF they had read it at all. I don’t agree with some of the article, but most of it.

(1) First, you have the Repenters, who “see the group they identify with as having committed horrible crimes globally and domestically, and they are ever so aware of the ways in which present material conditions generate continued deprivation for black people alongside relative comfort for many white people.” As such, Repenters are wracked by “an overwhelming sense of guilt,” a hard-to-shake feeling that one is blameworthy for having benefited from historical injustices, and for continuing to benefit from the racist systems currently in place.

(2) Next, you have the Repressers. This group is keen on downplaying the importance of race in America. They advocate for a “colorblind” approach to understanding inequality, and are quick to dismiss those who single out skin pigmentation as “playing the race card.” Repressers worry that people are “too easily offended” over “mere” peccadillos like wearing Blackface at Halloween, and suggest that those who whine about such infractions fail to appreciate just how far America has come from the bad old days of slavery and Jim Crow.

(3) The defining difference between these two groups is how they react to this problem. As alluded to above, Repenters react by feeling guilty and trying to assuage this feeling through attitudinal shifts and everyday acts. In contrast, Repressers react by trying to avoid the question of race altogether by suppressing talk of racial differences, which they disparage as “identity politics.”

(4) re Repenters and Repressers willing to do this? No, which is precisely why the Non-Aligned person does not engage in their bickering but, instead, uses what resources they have to investigate alternative solutions focused on reshaping global systems themselves, rather than on tweaking particular components of the system currently in place

It is a really long article. So I suggest that you do read it.

What I got from the article though, is that we need to change our minds way of thinking and become a more non-aligned movement. The article brought up a few interesting points, like how the Black Panthers wanted to make the police are more community based force. So not “defunding” the police, and not letting them be ruled by one leader, like a Mayor or a political candidate. Instead though, to be watched over by the community. Which I find a really fantastic idea! After they’re all, the police are supposed to protect US. Not serve, who ever meets their political alliance.

I will also say this article, is based off of American life.

Need too

…What that is, I don’t know what. But I have at least a little under a year to figure it out.

Do any of you ever have that feeling, that you know you should be doing more with your life? After this past weekend and getting frustrated with nearly every aspect of life these days. I sat there drinking and letting off steam. Thinking, there must be more than this.

There must be more than getting seriously annoyed with people on social media, and their “opinions” and what “they think”. I don’t care what these bumbling buffoons’ think, or their opinions. There MUST be a more constructive way to let off steam. All I have to do now if think of it.

But ideas, I don’t mean like come off social media. I mean, but the frustration into something … I guess … crafty.

Do you know what I mean?

I always seem to write really great blogs when I’m frustrated, even if I have to schedule it for a week later. Make sure the grammar and the writing is not that bad. But in the meantime, maybe there’s other things I can do. The only thing is, what? Writing does help a lot, maybe starting a book about my frustrated thoughts and turn that into some sort of novel?

I follow, on Instagram, this little page called “Plushie Adoptions” and I think that’s a fantastic idea. I was thinking someone turning something like that into something, like helping animal rescues centers. Then my idea expanded, into making little gift baskets for all new animals that come into adoption centers. You know like, a lot basket of goodies. Plushies, treats in it, blankies. All sorts of thing, things you can probably purchase from a op shop. But, because I’m young…ish. I would want to get some sort of money out of it. As horrible as it sounds.

Then my brain starts going, just do it Lauren, for free. But then my needing to eat and pay bills side is all “Well you need to eat and pay bills”.

I have so many ideas, definitely charity-wise. But I just don’t have the money to start funding that sort of thing, and it’s SO frustrating. I guess I could look into it? Maybe even get a small grant from somewhere.

Actually the more I think about it, the more excited it seems…But would I be brave enough?

Ummm…

Over last week I read two stories that made me go…

One was Joe Rogan saying that he would never interview Trump, even though he was asked to several times. Right so, the guy who agrees with all Trump Supporters and is all for Trumps ideas, doesn’t support Trump, himself?

Then there was Kim Kardashian, who was lamenting who she was always the “under dog” and how she was fine with that. Personally, I’m still waiting for her apology to Taylor Swift.

Aren’t celebrities odd.

Not getting married … yet … Some really good ideas though!

Bride reveals common wedding mistake to avoid: ‘Don’t do it’

In this article, the Bride talks about how she showed off her dress to everyone…Except the expecting hubby. She said it’s the one regret she has. As the wedding became more real, she started to doubt her dress.

She continued, “People are bad liars and no matter how hard they try, if they don’t like your dress, when you show them that photo, it will show on their face, their true feelings will show.  “So even if you truly love your dress and feel great in it, those little opinions will subconsciously start to taint your perspective of your own dress.”

As the title suggests, I am not married and am not engaged. Yet, I’ve been told what I can wear, what colour the dress needs to be, I can only wear white (yeah, that’s not going to happen) for the “religious” people. Don’t get me wrong, I’d look nice in a white dress. But a plain white dress?

… Like … I’m not marrying these Religious people … I would be marrying my partner, who also told me I HAD to wear white, because some people in his family are religious.

Like, sorry…My partner is an atheist, and I’m nearly 40 and not a virgin.

Fine, I wont wear a red wedding dress…But neither am I going to wear white … I’m thinking Lavender … Maybe green or yellow

I’ve been told who I can invite, who I cannot invite.

I’ve been told where I can and cannot have it.

I am already considering security.

I‘M NOT EVEN ENGAGED!

My ideas have changed over the years for the type of wedding I’d like. There’s a couple of things I know what I want.

I would like my bouquet to have Australian Native, some type English Rose and Edelweiss…My partner’s ancestry is from Germany.

But that’s it, haha…Like I keep changing my mind with everything else, lol.

Yeah, I think it’s a really good idea when it comes to a Wedding to keep as much as you can a secret. This could apply to other things as well, like … your child’s name. SO many people want to get involved in that one too!

Yeah…White? Keep dreaming! haha

My Generation

I was just thinking over the last couple of days, I don’t think that many from my generation 40 and below, have ever really had to protest before. I think of the protests that we’ve had over the years, I wonder if part of the reason why they don’t seem so effective is because we just don’t know how to.

Then again, I also think we live in a different state of the world. The last “great” protest I’m thinking of, are those against the Vietnam War, but then again, a lot of them protested against the soldiers, just doing their jobs and not necessarily the war themselves.

Before that was maybe Martin Luther King Jr and that Civil Rights March. Which is probably the most “famous” of them all. However, I am sure for different people, there are “great” protests that I am not even aware of.

I can’t help but think, we protest these days, because stupid people and “deaf” politicians, just are not listening to the Science, the Health or Medical professionals. We’re not protesting, because of the Government being wrong. We protest because they wont listen. Protests are done to make people feel uncomfortable, which some do. At the vigil for Sarah Everard, there were quiet a few signs that said “TERFs’ not welcomed here”. The TERFs were not happy, lol.

There must be a in-between that my generation is just missing out on?

Like, if the stupid politicians, and the bigots have social media to echo themselves. They’re not going to listen to a protest. Even though most, if not all, the time. The “lefties” and the “liberal bleeding hearts” always out-number the bigots.

We are the generation that need to come up with a new way to protest. Show the numbers, march, but show them on social media too. Start “hitting” those bigots mid way through their echo. Sometimes protesting on social media does actually work. As an example, a lot of businesses these days will listen to the people saying they wont buy from their business, as their advertisements come up on, say, Fox News. There a few twitter accounts, dedicated to letting the general public know which advertisers are advertising where.

I have no idea where you’d start with that though!lol

What can you do during Pride Month?

So, like a lot of others in the world. Some places are starting to loosen up restrictions. Which means YAY and also NAY for some.

Now, if you’re like me. When my state first had it’s restrictions loosened, I really struggled to head out. When I did, I couldn’t be quiet, but my energy was depleted really quickly.

So, Lolsys Library, what can we do if we want to celebrate Pride, but don’t really want to go out? Or you’re not ready to head yet and PAR-TAY! What can you do?

There are plenty of options!

  • Tune into any virtual Pride events and stream!
  • While you’re streaming, why not make some rainbow treats! – Delish cooking
  • Why not listen to some LGBT friendly podcasts?!
  • Borrow, or even better, buy books. That are about the LGBTQIA life, written by LGBTQIA authors.
  • Support LGBT Pride Businesses.
  • Some suggestions have been to find a LGBTQIA colouring book. I think it’s fine though with any colouring in book. Especially if you have colouring in books, that are just patterns. I have a few that are “dream animals” type patterns. However, clearly during this month, specific LGBT colouring in books would be preferable. – Coloring Book Addict (Pride LGBTQ+ Coloring Books)
  • Writing about colouring in…Why not do some LGBT friendly art!
  • When you go to shops, wear those rainbows and rainbows colours!

I’m gonna do it!

After my post “Mental Health Check List” I’m going too take your suggestions on board and do them! I didn’t honestly think to myself what I’d do if anyone made any good suggestions, but you all did! Haha

Tomorrow/When I get up I’m getting up and then I am going to write that to do list, and include a Spiritual Checklist as well! I think that sounds like a fantastic idea. Thank you very much for sharing and giving me ideas. My idea is to do a to do list, then after I’ve done it. Too expand it to then include times and dates. Basically which tasks need to go in order of importance.

Last minute Christmas rushes

So it’s about 48hrs ish until Christmas…Are You Ready?!

Voting Kamala Harris GIF by Joe Biden - Find & Share on GIPHY

No? Well don’t stress! There are so many different things that you can do for Christmas. I think this year, people will be more forgiving if presents don’t turn up on time, or there not as expensive as previous years.

THAT’S OKAY!

What I want to write about, are possible gifts ideas, where you can use things from your own house. Or things you can grab from the supermarkets. Sort of quick and handy ideas, for present ideas. Some of these though will clearly depend on who you’re giving the gift too.

Of course there is always the re-gift. While not “socially proper” If not one finds out, whose going to know! Just make sure you know who you’re re-gifting a gift too. My Mum, as an example, gave these wine glasses to my Aunt, that she thought were awesome, and great, since my Aunt and Uncle sit outside a lot. My Aunt gave them to someone who posts EVERYTHING ON FACEBOOK! So you can imagine my Mum’s surprise when a few months later a mutual friend of theirs were given the same suspiciously looking unique wine glasses, from my Aunt. Every one wanted to know where she got them from, so they could get some…Total Silence. The woman that my Aunt re-gifted too, posts EVERYTHING on Facebook. So be careful!

So one thing a lot of people I’ve noticed really getting into this year, are plants! I would highly recommend, thinking about taking a beautiful plant from your garden and placing it in a pot, to give to someone. If you have beautiful flowers, what about a bouquet of flowers?

Baking and Cooking, while they may seem “easy get outs”. If you have a favourite recipe or a really good recipe, people will love it! I have a cousin who cooks really well (was on Australia’s first season on “The Great Australia Bake Off). He makes jams, oils, and delicious foods. He now runs a little market type store in Sydney So while we may all not be my cousin. You don’t have to be on a tv show, or a run a market to make delicious foods, spread, oils etc.

Which brings me to other things you can use in your own home to make things. You can make things like soaps, sometimes you can make candles. Depending, clearly, on what you have at your home at the time. This is great is you have dying flowers, or smells around. Now, while I was investigating this, while it’s simple. I kept coming across this product, Lye. So this link goes to what Lye is. It does say you don’t need Lye, but it’s a better product to make soaps with.

If you sow or knit, although knitting does take a long time. Why not try redesigning some old clothes, either to make “new” clothes, or to make something completely different! You can make bags, pillow cushions, socks…Depending on the material though!
