What’s the biggest screw up in the kitchen that you were responsible for?

Well people who know me would make fun of me just being in the kitchen. I am just not a cooker at all. Mainly though because no one ever let me cook really. If I tried people would get frustrated with me because I was slow, but that was because no one would let me cook. At least I didn’t burn two minute noodles! The biggest screw up in the kitchen I’ve “done” is breaking the bin…But I knew it was going to happen, because it was already over filled and when that happens the lid gets stuck. Since we had people over Mum decided to get everyone to look at me and say “Shows you how often Lauren takes the bin out”. It was so awkward.

What, in your opinion, makes people believe absurd conspiracy theories?

I think it’s both a lack of life experience and not getting out enough and someones upbringing. As much as I despise generalisations, they are there for a reason.

In 40 years what will people be nostalgic for?

I think we’ll be nostalgic for what we are nostalgic for now. The circle keeps spinning. They have just recently been bringing back all my old childhood toys. It’s been weird!lol

Is a hot dog a sandwich?

I think so. It’s got bread, in a roll form and it had a filling.

What wonderful thing happened to you this week that you’d like to share?  It can be a gratitude moment or something that just made you feel very happy at the time or made you laugh.

I have had a really good week. I was told that some of my ex friends were talking shizzle about me on their Facebook pages and I didn’t care. I expected it, they’ve been doing this since High School, they still stalk their ex’s pages. It was though the first time I realised how sad they are, they are supposed to be going through the happiest time of their lives right now…and they’re talking about me? Making other people feel weird and uncomfortable, showing who they truly are.

If you could hire someone to help you, would it be with cleaning, cooking, or yard work?

It would definitely be for the yard work! The most I have ever done is water the garden, or replace water when I get flowers. I am really not a “green thumb” type person. Funny story, I was asking questions about herbs for someone else on Facebook. That year for Christmas everyone gave me presents that had to do with gardening, because they thought I had taken it up. I guess they didn’t believe me this time when I said “Asking for a friend”lol

If you were to move and your home came fully furnished with everything you ever wanted, list at least three things from your old house you wish to retain?

I am currently moving between my mums house and my partners.

My mums shower…Everyone loves our shower, I miss my showers when I stay over at my partners.

My Mums couch, it’s just such a comfy place to sleep on! We have all fallen asleep and slept on it many a night.

My own bed, I love the bed cover, the pillow covers and I just fall asleep so easily…It’s all about the sleeping for me!lol

What calms you down?

I find that it depends on the situation what helps me to feel more calm. At the moment I have been listening to Celtic Music. I’ve been sitting down at the man-made wetlands and just putting my iPod and listening to Celtic music. I swear I must have been there in a past life or something. Mainly at the moment I’ve been listening to “Celtic Woman”. Especially this song! Listen to it full volume!

36. Your Home

36. Your Home…

This is one of those occasions where timing is amazing!lol

*long post*

I live in two different houses at the moment because my Mum and my partners houses are in two different areas, but because they are both close to where my two different work places are. I’ve been spending half a week at one house and the rest of the week at the other house. It’s been good though, I still get to see my mum, my dog and my partner and his cat and feel like I’m spending time with everybody. I can also say that I feel safe at both and that is the best feeling ever!

The other thing that’s happening though is my creepy cousin (I’ll be writing about that one later) He turned up to my Mums house. Now before I say what happened, this is the situation. My cousin is MY blood cousin, he’s my Dads nephew. When my parents split my Dads sister, her husband and my creepy cousin all took my Mum’s side. The problem is my cousin has always had a crush on my Mum, and it is not subtle either. For some reason though she always hangs out with him, they are close in age, but it’s still weird to me. The other thing I’ll mention is that they live (he’s 51, he’s just become retired, and still lives at home with his mum and dad) about 10 minutes away.

Last weekend he turns up too my Mums house, bangs on her door. She said that really loud banging and so she runs to the front door, she was drying her hair at the time. Opens the door and he starts accusing her having someone in the house. He saw someone guy in a suit come up and knock on her door and when he drove around, the guy in the suit was gone.

  • Mum never heard anyone else knock on the door,
  • There was no other man in the house.
  • Who WAS the strange man in the suit?
  • Not that any of that is his business

Since then she’s been really shaken up by what he did. The surprising thing is he apologised NOT for clearly stalking her, banging on her door and scaring the jabber out of her because he’s just being “protective”. He apologised for accusing her of having someone in the house, when she didn’t. They are not dating, my mother is not interested in him.

It’s sad because now she doesn’t feel safe in her own home and she gets angry at herself, because she was so shocked that she felt like she had to justify to him, instead of telling him off. Now she doesn’t feel safe in her own home. Even after this, he still doesn’t get it and he actually invited himself over to watch a football game, that my Mum has never been interested in. She did say no that though. So FINALLY she is actually going to have a word with his mother…Like a 13 year old kid *rolls eyes*

I have to say I don’t feel comfortable either anymore. Even though I know that it’s her his interested in. My Mum goes out dancing every Tuesday evening and I stay and look after our dog, especially mainly because I’m working there at the time. I went to the bathroom and I started to freak out, what if he doesn’t believe that she’s out dancing, what if he just sits there, waiting for her to come back?

A home should always make you feel safe. You should be able to sit inside, go to the bathroom and feel like you are finally out of the rat race and all the drama, and that no one is peering in on you.

I am grateful for my homes, I feel safe and loved…It’s just a shame someone dumb has decided to disturb the peace…GET A LIFE!!!

What is your favorite comfort snack food?

I really love Nacho Cheese Doritos, they are so amazing! I could through a whole packet of them, every single time…And I may have…Once…or a few times…But not anymore! I have started to eat more healthy lately, so no more entire packets! I’ve cut down a lot.

Is the paper money in your possession right now organized sequentially according to denomination and with the bills right side up and facing the same way?

It is actually, my purse is a little small so I’ve had too fold the notes in half. I always try to put them in order though, with the smallest amount on the inside.

If you were a mouse in your house in the evening, what would you see your family doing?

Not much to be honest, especially at the moment, I’ve been sick the last couple of weeks. Generally I end up playing some kind of computer and will get on Facebook…and WordPress at some point. My Mum goes to meditation once a month.

Would you rather not be able to read or not be able to speak?

I honestly would rather not be able to read, because I could honestly listen to audio books and possibly get other people to read to me. Not being able to speak seems completely terrifying to me. I may not be able to speak well sometimes, but when I do, it’s honest and full.

Cleaning Spritz!

I am a weird human being, I actually enjoy cleaning…Okay, I enjoy cleaning up my stuff and the mess I made. When I go to somebody else’s house though I will help clean up, but I don’t enjoy it…Cleaning up my own room, my own house, my partners house…I really get a kick out of it.

We are heading into Winter, here Down Under. So not only is cleaning kind of a meditation for me, but it’s a good work out as well and keeps me nice and warm. I have also been trying to get rid of things and stuff, it’s been going on for about two years now and I am still going. Sure, it’s like one bag every three months or so, but I have a lot of stuff!

So readers, do you enjoy cleaning, what is your advice for Winter cleaning?

Stuff and Things

So since my post last week about “Little Nooks” for your reading areas. I have found so many more amazing things that you can just have in your room. I’ve listed a few of my new favourite sites (where I’ll look for hours, but never buy anything). I’m always trying to find “things and stuff” for that day I win the lotto and can have my dream house.

I found this amazing page on PinInterest. The page is called “Cool Stuff for Teens” but it’s really a bunch of amazing reading chairs that you can have in any reading room. To the very extravagant chairs, to many different variations of the ‘bean bag’.

Now personally when I’m reading a book, I tend to drink warm drinks with my book. Don’t know why, but I just find it so much more relaxing. However, I found these amazing USB mini fridges where you can put in a can or two, or even a bottle and keep it nice and cool. You can probably even put a nice glass of wine in it, to keep to cool. These products can range from about $30.00 – $60.00, depending on the brand, type and size.

Then as well there is always the little bits and pieces that go into your room. D.I.Y Ready Now I know a lot of these are for “teenage girls” BUT just your creativity to suit it to your needs (or wants…Should stop looking at these sites, they make really want to win the lottery, lol)

One with just a big amazing listing of things (I may have already bought one or two things from this list!):

Share Your World – Week 19

Share Your World – 2015 Week #19

Share Your World

This week’s questions are all about your home, whether it be a house, a mansion, a trailer, an apartment, or treehouse.  I hope you enjoy this mini theme version of Share Your World.

If you have a TV, would you prefer the TV in the living room or another room?

I have a tv in my living room and in my bedroom and there are benefits and negatives to both. I enjoy having a tv in my room, especially at the moment. We’re heading into Winter and lying in bed at night with the rain pouring outside of my window, is heaven. I feel really isolated though if I stay in my room for too long, I’m not out being social and talking with my mum and playing with my puppy. Which is funny because when I got the tv everyone was worried I’d never come out of my room and I’ve found I like it, the convenience is great. I need real people though too!lol

Would you prefer a one floor house or multiple levels?

I actually live in a “town-house” which is a type of small house, but it’s two levels. I prefer a one floor house. There are just some days where you are sick (self-inflicted or not) and it can be hard to get up those stairs. The amount of times that I have fallen both up and down the stairs as well. My partner last weekend fell down on his socks down our stairs and his back still hurts =/

When you leave a room, do you turn the lights off behind you or keep the lights on throughout your house most of the time? Explain your answer.

If I’m alone at night, I tend to leave a lot of the lights on. I will turn the lights off if I’m watching a movie, but I make sure that my puppy is sitting with me. I turn all the lights off usually in my day to day business.

What’s your favorite room in your home?

I pretty much love every single room. I am such a homebody, I come home from work and it’s the only time that I can get changed in a minute, get out of my work clothes and into my comfy clothes. Home is where my heart is and home is where I feel the safest.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Definitely my partner, I can’t believe how sweet and patient that he has been with me. My last relationship left me broken and I felt like I could never let anyone back into my life again. He hasn’t just proven me wrong, but he’s helped me become stronger.
This week I am looking forward to it being a quiet week and not having to go out and “shine” so to speak. It’s going to be pretty relaxing and I haven’t had that in a while.

Time Warp…

This is such a sweet news article and I just had to share it…”Australia’s oldest couple sell time warp Mosman home after 76 years

In 1938 this couple bought the only home (at the time) in the suburb of Mosman. They bought it so many years ago that it was in the same year as Sydney held the “Commonwealth Games” but it was also known back then as “The Empire Games”. This was during a time when a average family home cost around $1000 and a loaf of bread was only a sixpence.

Tom and Jean, the owners of the house, are both over a 100 years old, and while they are both very much alive and kicking. They can no longer take care of their own home and are moving into a nursing home. The amazing thing about this house is that it still has the same fittings and the same furniture from when they first moved in. The house is in complete pristine condition and looking at the pictures you would think you have taken a step back in time.

The other thing that stood out to me reading this article was when they asked him about giving any advice about marriage. Tom replied with “I don’t really think I can give them advice but I don’t think people stick at marriage anymore,’’ he said…Wise words I think…
