Yesterday

Yesterday, I decided to take a break, for whatever I wanted too. Which is why I didn’t make comments yesterday, on here.

I did do things like clothes and dish washing, because, well I had too.

Today though is a public holiday (for I believe) most of Australia, We get a public holiday to “celebrate” the Queens birthday. Happy Birthday your majesty. Apart from drinking tea, I’m not really doing anything “British”, not on purpose. It’s just not happening, lol

I was all yesterday “I’m just gonna chill” and do whatever, I just felt like I needed too. You know what though? It was REALLY hard to do, because there are things that I could do, but I just didn’t want to do.

It was really hard to get rid of the guilt that I felt by not doing things I should have done. Now, these things do not need to be completed for a bit. But still, that guilt.

Questions:

What’s your remedy for the Holiday blues?

Just comedies, comedy and even comedies! There are some fantastic Christmas comedy specials out there!

Your favorite beverage (if it differs) during the holiday season?  If it doesn’t differ, just answer the ‘what’s your favorite beverage” part.

I have an entire assortment of favourite beverages. I have actually recently gotten into egg nog. Oh my goodness, I was missing out there! I enjoy more milkshakes around this time of year. Here in Australia, it’s Summer, so the weather is warmer. Anything minty as well. The same with my response last week with the mint chocolate ice-cream. I also enjoy glasses of white sweet wine, lol

This one has been asked before, but what’s your take on pumpkin spice?

I’ve never honestly had it,lol

Is there is a person or god connected with your holiday?

  • Who are they and do you believe in them?
  • If you do not believe in these people or gods, does the celebration/honoring of that being, bother you in any way (e.g., ignored, dismissed, angry, etc.)?

I don’t really believe in a God for Christmas or anything. I believe in what the spirit of Christmas is supposed to be. The only thing that bothers me is when people say that people are at War with Christmas, because Starbucks put “Happy Holidays” on a cup. Or when Trump says things like Obama wont let people say “Merry Christmas”, when there was absolutely no proof of that. That bothers me.

I have no problem with “Happy Holidays” in general, anyway. Not everyone on planet Earth celebrates Christmas. We celebrate Christmas, but my family doesn’t celebrate a Christian Christmas. But we all enjoy the holidays and breaks we get because of it, and why not?.

QUESTIONS:

Why do we have such trouble telling our loved ones that we love them?  Do you have that kind of communication issue with your loved ones?

Some I do and some I don’t. Some loved ones, I love them because they’re family, but I don’t necessarily like them. Some people like my brother we were really close, then in high school we drifted apart, but now we’ve come back together.

Above question inspired by this short, poignant blog post:

https://mitchteemley.com/2019/10/10/love-before-its-too-late-2/

Decorations for holidays?   Spirit lifters or pain in the butt?   Or a mix?

Oh definitely spirit lifters, but only when it’s not too early! Christmas is my favourite time of year, every year. But with the shops bringing Christmas into the shops, earlier each year. It’s weird how stressful it makes you feel. Like “Oh my goodness, I need too get all the Christmas shopping done right now”lol.

Do you donate to charities?  Of your time, do you feel money is the only true gift, or other?  (nod to Rory for this idea)

I donate to three different charities. But money isn’t the only thing you can do. There’s a lot you can do! You can volunteer (I guess that’s your time). Listening can be charity. There’s so many different ways to give.

Are you too superstitious or  have you ever played with a Ouija Board?

I’m superstitious to a point, I’m not going to start throwing salt over my shoulder…Maybe, lol. I kind of do want to play with an Ouija board, but I also don’t want too.

HARVEST GRATITUDE:

This week please share a photo or image of what ‘harvest’ and “Autumn” mean to you!   Thanks!

Autumn in Australia is during April. My birthday month =D

Change the Day…Australia Day

Recently our most recent Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, apologised to the Church Abuse Victims of Australia…and I was like…

Now, he’s decided that Councils who don’t agree with the date of Australia Day and have their Citizenship Ceremonies on different days, because that’s what their Councils agreed on…HAVE to have it on “Australia Day”…Nothing like the white colonies making people celebrate Australia Day with a national holiday, that’s only been a “National Holiday” since 1994.

I think we are getting to bogged down with a specific date, rather than looking at a particular day. Instead of making it a specific date, how about making it the last Monday every January, seeing as that’s the public holiday anyway for the next couple of years, like Good Friday, Monday,Easter Sunday, Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, AFL Grand Final, Fathers Day, Mothers Day…Every New Years Day is a different day, if it’s on a Saturday, we don’t hold the public holiday for it on a Monday. The Queens Birthday, we don’t even celebrate it ON her Birthday, we make it every second Monday in June, her birthday is in April. Even then not all states in Australia celebrate it in June! #changetheday

Nothing says “Love Australia and Love Australia Day” like forced Patriotism.

What are the most important lesson(s) you’ve learned in life?

  • Listen to your gut…Who knows you better than you!
  • Never judge a book by it’s cover.
  • Instead of hating, try to understand.

How did you meet your husband/wife or significant other? How did you know he/she was “the one”?

I am not married…Yet…We have been talking about it a lot though lately. We have been together for about 3-4 years now, so it’s coming up a lot. We met online though, I went to the online dating site as dare initially and he was actually the first one I picked. My mum made me chose someone else as well to go on a date, even though I really did not like the guy. She wanted me to have choices and I was so resistant, because if it was just beginners luck…Why is that bad? I can go back online, lol…I was also SO lucky because he was starting to shut down his others profiles, so timing was perfect! Now I’ve been with him for numerous years and we are starting to get me to move in and talking about getting married.

If you could take a year-long paid sabbatical, what would you do?

If I could afford to I would travel to three places, one Disneyland, one Hobbit land in New Zealand and the other is all over Ireland. I would stay with my Gran for a bit.

What is your favorite thing to buy at a movie theater concession stand? (credit to The Haunted Wordsmith for this one)

Popcorn…I always need to have popcorn, even if I’ve had dinner beforehand and my tummy is full.

Lastly:

What are some Holiday Traditions you and/or your family observe in December?

One traditions that the adults in my family do now, that my Grandfather (now passed away) started. We do a secret Santa for the adults in the family and then we send out a list about what we want. Instead of wrapping it in Christmas Wrapping paper, we wrap the presents in newspaper.

All By Myself

By the time you read this…My Mum and Brother will be in Hong Kong, having a nice little holiday while I take care of the dog.

I am totally cool with it though. I don’t think I trust my anxiety to fly on such a long flight.

What do I do though? The only plan I have is too go through my cupboards and just take all the week and a bit they’re gone too go through…and just chuck!

  • I would love to get away with my partner. There’s this little beach town that I love in my state and I have always wanted to stay  there overnight, it’s perfect Summer weather and a perfect Summer beach town. I just have to convince him!

We did do it and it was really quiet nice. We went to a little beach-town over Australia Day and it was lovely. We did about 4 or 5 different walks at different times of the day. I am so happy that we did it as well. It wasn’t even too busy because the media had reported it was going to be 41. It ended up being 38 and that wasn’t even until the last couple of hours before sunset. Most of the day it had cloud covering.

  • I’m reading  a few books while I’ve got some time off before the busy season starts at my work place. See a review coming soon!

I “kind” of did this one. By that I mean instead of writing an review for one book I compared two books. Written in the same genre, and both the second book in a series instead. I found it really interesting. I’ve never really done that before and it made me look at the books differently as well. I think it takes a lot more work comparing rather than writing up a single review. You have to consider and reconsider both books.
You can read “Take 2” here.

  • I want to get a few things set up before I really start back up at work. Like a meditation space etc.

I have got a couple of things set up for it and not having the other things hasn’t stopped me from meditation though. It’s more like it would just be a nice thing to have a proper space set up.

  • Make lasagne…from scratch! I love it and I want do it, but I’ve never done it before!

Yeah I should have known this one wasn’t going to happen. I have been cooking things, mainly slow cooked meals from scratch and some different types of bakes. I’m starting to think that making lasagne from scratch is more of a Winter meal, lol

Merry Christmas <3

Coming Merry Christmas GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

Here comes another obligatory wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays.

By the time you all read this I would have already celebrated Christmas and am probably sleeping off the day. When this post is posted it’ll be 11:59pm Monday night. I just wanted to make sure that this post was posted on Christmas in as many places as I could.

As I mentioned as well I wont probably be able to see this post until I get back, which wont be until the 26th/27th. 27th here…27th day time here…26th night time everywhere else.

However you “celebrate” Christmas…I hope it was a good one!

It’s a Holiday!

44. Your favourite Holiday

Without a doubt my favourite holiday is Christmas. It’s just my favourite time of the year. Have you ever seen this picture?

Christmaas

(I’m the one at the bottom)

I just love what Christmas represents too me. It’s not even about the gifts, it’s about spending time with people that I love and who love me…and the food! It’s about family, sitting together, laughing and just having a good time together. Where for one day I am lucky enough to not worry about anything.
