Questions:

How comfortable are you speaking in front of large groups of people?

Considering that I’m an introvert, you’d think that I would be terrified! However, if I know why I’m talking to a group, then I am normally fine. It’s the chat chit afterwards I normally struggle with afterwards.

What would be the best thing you could reasonably expect to find in a cave?

Something really usual and unique. Or food, if I’m lost, lol.

What did you think was going to be amazing but turned out to be horrible?

I thought that working in a Library would be brilliant, but I have just had so many bad experiences. Most of the workers are nice, but it always management that’s problem. I think that the workers aren’t management, for that reason. Workers actually get it, management never do. Even in a Library!

The first time I worked in a Library, they knew I didn’t have a licence. But I still got all the really bad shifts, every single Sunday. When buses took forever to come by. I’d have to leave at 11am, to make sure I’d get there by 1. Ones that went for only three hours, finishing really late at night, in the middle of winter. Then, I worked one weekend about 4 months later with another casual who started with me. She had not worked any weekends, or any of the late shifts. So I started saying no, because I had assumed all the others were saying no, they weren’t even being asked. Then I got a sick, and even though I kept them up to date with my progress, I lost my contract…But no one actually told me that. So when my Doctor said that I was ready to go back to work, I told them…For the next month and a half, nothing. I heard nothing. One of the reasons, I didn’t panic was because it was Christmas time, so I thought that one)all the shifts will be full. Two)It’s Christmas, whose going to give up money unless it’s really important. Third) Surely if I had lost my contract someone would tell me. When FINALLY someone got back to me…They blamed me -.- They had tried my phone apparently, but I must have been really busy. Considering that 95% of our conversations took place over email. I call bull. I didn’t even thank anyone for giving me the experience.

So yeah, that was my first library job. Not the greatest of starts.

Actually I have never been treated well with Libraries, only as a customer. Even when I volunteered, I left there pretty angry as well.

What’s the silliest thing you’ve observed someone get upset about?

I don’t get the whole flying the Confederate flags as patriotic. Then getting upset when people want to get rid of the Confederate flags. They are literal losers, they lost the fight to have slaves. So why the upset about getting rid of statues and flags of literal horrible people.

I just wanted to point this out, because I keep forgetting to mention it. I will/have started to write the date as dd/mm/yyyy…As that is part of my world. Being Australian, we put the day first, instead of the month.

Questions:

In your opinion, does patriotism require the belief that one’s country is the greatest on earth?

No. You’ll have moments where you think it is, but nothing and nobody is perfect forever. We all have our moments.

Why is patriotism considered by some to be the highest of virtues? What is so important about love of country? Shouldn’t we be more concerned about humankind, or the planet as a whole, rather than a single country?

I think it’s more of a “pride” thing. Some people feel like they choose to live where they live, so it must be perfect, like them. They wouldn’t be living there if it wasn’t perfect. I love Australia, but I think (and I think a lot of others can relate) our current Government. Has shown the very worst flaws in our Government systems, and our Country. There’s nothing wrong with having a flaw, the problem happens when you don’t want to acknowledge it. It’s like having a cancer, all that happens if you don’t acknowledge it…well, you die.

What is the relationship between decisions and consequences?

They are related by, whatever decision you decide to take, will have some kind of action. it might be good, it might have consequences. But it all starts with that first decision.

What is social justice?

Social Justice is usually used by your every day human being. It’s kind of like taking the Law into your own hands. Most of the time, people don’t break the Law. When I think of social justice, I think of people like Martin Luther King Jr, Gandhi, Mother Teresa. People who protest peacefully, people who make the point with no violence. People who want to make a difference for others, like Greta Thunberg.

and one ‘easy’ one because those others?  Fairly difficult.

What’s one body part you wouldn’t mind losing? (told you.  Silly).

Either one arm or one leg. I think that I could get by still if I lost one of them. Okay, maybe a leg, I still want to be able to open jars, open my own packet of chips/crisps.

What is something that made you smile during the past week?

I started watching John Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight”, last week. Anyways, he was talking about sports, and those missing them, those who are already over it. You have to watch the segment. All I’ll say though “Jelle’s Marble Run League”.

Questions:

What’s something you really resent paying for?

Umm…I honestly can’t think of anything. The closest I have come too is buying clothes online which then don’t really fit you properly.

What was the most unsettling film you’ve seen?

I can’t think of one of the top of my head. The one that I can think of that comes closest. Was Hostels 2, a thriller. This group of young people get kidnapped and then they are bid for. Where they were then tortured. I don;t like horrors or thrillers, except for silent horror films. But they STILL give me nightmares. The silent film of “Phantom of the Opera”, gave me my first nightmare that I can remember. I was only there, because my partners friends all wanted to see it. They all had seen Hostel 1. I also got squeamish because, at one point, they shoot a kid in the head. Violence towards children and animals, always makes me angry.

Do you judge people?

Too an extent, I do. I think we all do. As one gets older though, you learn to do it less and less.Well, I have been anyway, lol. I think as you get older, you…well some…care less what others think. So you tend to judge less, because you’ve “been through it” yourself. Well, some of us. I’d be a liar though if I say I never judge. I never said I was perfect!lol

Finish this sentence:  “Back in my day, we…”?

Walked 100 miles, in the snow, no shoes, we had to hunt for our school lunch…Hahaha…Back in my day…Feels so long ago now, especially with this year!

I have found something to put in my little seeds in, which I am going to go out to get tomorrow…The best thing is, that they are biscuit containers! Our supermarket bakery, bake their own biscuits (cookies). I’m always buying a different flavour biscuit, and the containers are quiet huge. I was about to throw them out, but then I realised. I reckon I can use them for some seeds! What do you all think? I was thinking some herbs? Put some holes in the bottom? I’m not really a “garden” person, lol. The most I do is pull weeds, lol. I put a birthday card of mine to compare sizes.

Questions:

  • I asked this on an award thingie I was nominated for, and I got such interesting responses, I thought I’d ask it on Share Your World too:  Do you have a favorite kind of tree?
I guess the best I come closest to a favourite tree, is that any tree that is huge. There is something truly magnificent about a huge tree. Like a giant Sequoia, or a huge Fir or a Conifer. They remind me of Ents, or possibly a front door to an underground castle.
  • What bridges are you happy you burned?
Oh, SO many! Usually there’s a pretty good reason I burnt a bridge.  Honestly, I don’t think that there is a burnt bridged that I would ever rebuild for. I have no problem with accepting an apology, but it doesn’t mean I have to be their friend.
  • Would you sacrifice yourself (die) for a stranger?
It depends on the stranger, if it’s a kid, of course. If it’s a Trump, nope.
  • How have your priorities changed since the C-19 virus took over?
I have been looking at employment a little differently. I don’t want something casual, I want something permanent, and I would love it to be permanent part-time. My ultimate dream would be to work from home. But you need money to set up that up. Hence, why I’d love to work part-time. So I can to work, get some money together and still get out of the house. Having something permanent as well, would mean, if a business at home didn’t work out. I can still contribute.
Honestly, I would love to own “New Age” store, the ones I visit. The atmosphere is awesome, but there are none near to me. I don’t have the money to start my own business. I could see myself in a New Age store. I actually kind of was in one once, and I was really good at it. Unfortunately I did not know, the person running the store was actually trying to defraud the Government, too get more money. So when I started to tell our Australian welfare system that I was making money, that I was working. I was fired. We were getting cash in hand, I was only working once a week and I was making like $250 a day. I think it was because my friend, was jealous that I was the newcomer and I was doing way better than her. She’d make like a $100 a day. So when they asked me did no one tell you not to report it to Centrelink, she (my now ex friend) turned around and said “I told her”…She didn’t.

Please feel free to share your gratitude!  During this troubling time, some positive input is sorely needed, so any memes, stories, photos, or anything else you find uplifting is welcome!   Please share!   Thanks!

What I have seen though, that is something to be very grateful. Most people have become kinder, a lot more people seem to be more comfortable reaching out for help. It’s almost like because everyone is pretty much in the same boat, people feel more easier to reach for the help. I am hoping that it will last once this is all over with.

QUESTIONS:

What can you break even if you don’t touch it?  (yes there is a real answer to this.  I’ll reveal it in the next week sometime.  Still, answer how you would like – no right or wrong answer)

Is it a heart? That seems to easy! It’s a heart, isn’t it?

What’s the most useful thing you own?

I have no idea, lol…My handbag I suppose? I can put a lot of things in there. People make fun of me, whenever I get a new handbag. Others always pay me out and call my bags the “Mary Poppins” bag.

What’s The Silliest Reason You’ve Ever Gotten Into A Fight With Someone Over?

Steak. We were supposed to get Chinese food, but my brother wanted chilly steaks. I can’t eat chilli, never have. Anyways, because he’s the Prince, we had to have the steak. I was struggling to eat it, because I can’t eat chilli…BOTH my mum and my brother called me fake! So I said “Yes, I’m fake. I have, in fact, been able to eat chilli my whole life. When I was born I said to myself that I’m going to fake my whole life, not being able to eat chilli, just for this moment”. Everyone made sure he was okay -.-

If You Were A Snake, How Long Would You Want To Be?   No, size does not matter.  😛

I would want to be a long python. Probably because I’m short and they are long, lol.

Questions:

Do guns protect people or kill people?  Or both?

Guns kill. Too me, that’s the whole function of a gun. It’s there to kill, whether it’s because you’re hunting an animal, or shooting at an intruder. The point of a gun is too kill. Even if you’re shooting at an intruder to protect your family, and you shoot and they die. They still died. The gun didn’t talk to the intruder to put it on a better path. They’re dead…Stone cold dead. You may shoot at someone to protect your family, but that gun that you are shooting at another human being with, can still kill them. That’s what they’re for…To kill.

Is it more important to be respected or liked?

Respected.

Is having a big ego a negative or  positive trait?  (yeah I know.  Duh. But there ought to be one “gimme’ in the pile)

Sometimes it could be a positive trait, a big ego, you think you’re unstoppable. I do think there’s a difference between a huge ego and a narcissistic personality disorder though. I think there’s actually nothing wrong with a big ego, as long as you’re not harming others with it,lol

Depending on your point of view, is death a new beginning?

I love the movie “The Mummy” and one of the quotes in there is when Imhotep says “Death in only the beginning”. I think it is, to an extent. I do think that there are such things as Guardian Angels, Angels, rebirth. I do believe that we come here to learn lessons, and then far later on we are reborn as someone else. That’s why I believe in soul mates. I believe that we meet certain people, in each life.

It’s tough right now to count the blessings we have.   Being grateful for being confined to our homes and having reality skewed out of kilter for some is depressing.   So if there is something positive or uplifting or something you’re grateful for that you’d like to share (pictures, memes, images, thoughts) please!  Do share!  Thanks!   🙂

Questions:

On A Scale Of 1-10, How Strict Were Your Parents?

My Dad was definitely more stricter than my mum. But also, let me put it this way. When my parents separated my brother never got told off for anything. NOW, my parents blame the other one for how my brother turned out. My brother isn’t a bad person, but like he’s bad with money, as an example. He never did chores, he technically didn’t pass High School, but he is as smart as! Yet, he’d get pocket money ALL the time. Because he was popular too, he’d get extra money to go out. I learnt how to save so I could go out. So now he has a very bad relationship with money. He’s two years younger than me and it’s honestly only been this year, when he’s borrowed money, he pays it back. That might be because, as well, he got a huge amount of it for a job he did this year.

I personally hold both my parents responsible. My Dad wasn’t there for us physically, but that was his choice. He was always “sick”… or hung over. We may have been with our Mum 95% of the time, but my Dad, he’s a parent too. Technically my Dad was the stricter parent, but how can you be strict with people you are never around?

What Wastes The Most Time In Your Day To Day Life?

Probably my computer gaming time. If I have something that needs something done, I can end up playing a computer game for literal hours.

Do They Bury People With Their Braces* On?   (* “braces” in this scenario are those metal bits they put on people to straighten their teeth.   I realize “braces” are also some item of clothing that I believe men wear to keep their socks up or something.  I’m talking about the teeth option).

I’d assume they would, if you die with them on? Honestly, I’ve never been to a funeral where there has been an open casket. I’ve never had to identify a body, or known someone whose died with braces. I’m only assuming they would, because that’d how most of their departed ones would know them?

Why Does A Round Pizza Come In A Square Box?

I did hear that it’s because bins are square, well they are in Australia. And because everything is mostly in a rectangle or square shape. It’s just easier. I just don’t know how true it is,lol

Gratitude:   Share something you are grateful for right now.  I know that’s a tough question.  It helps to share those bright bits with folks though, because many of us are seeing through an increasingly dark glass.

QUESTIONS:

Can you bake a cake?   (credit for this question goes to Di, who asked it on her post recently.   Thanks Di! After last week’s SYW, we needed a little bit of sweet and light!)

https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2020/02/29/its-a-mystery/

I can technically bake a cake, whether that’s baking well or not is another matter. I actually prefer to bake cookies. I LOVE cookies, and it seems everyone else bakes cakes in my family anyway. I think once I have kids, I’ll probably have to more, but basically I can, but I prefer cookies =D

What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better?

Without a doubt, both of the furbabies instantly make the day better. Even when you go to the rubbish bin, they are just so genuinely happy to see you. Of course as well, when you get that package you’ve been waiting for, sometimes you think it’s gotten lost and then you realise…It has not! Or starting to read a really good book.

When you were a kid, did you eat the crusts on your sandwich or not?

I ate it all, baby!

What’s something your family would be surprised to learn about you?

I’m not actually sure to be honest. They know pretty well, I haven’t really hid anything from them. The only thing I’ve hidden from them is the fact that my anxiety tablets made me depressed there for a bit.

AND (of course)

GRATITUDE IS AN ATTITUDE!

Please feel free to share some gratitude from this past week (or month or year).  This is purely optional of course, but it does tend to uplift everyone (I happen to think) to read some happy and/or joyful thoughts or view some uplifting pictures.    Thank you if you do so!

Just having another day here. With the ability to stay off social media if I so choose. I guess I feel grateful that I have choices.

Questions:

Do you snore?  How do you know it, if you do?

I think I do, but not all the time. It seems to happen a lot when I have a cold, or the weather is a bit colder. My partner told me, he’s definitely a snorer though. Sometimes it drives me so nuts, so I have to wake him. At the moment I haven’t been, because he’s just bought a house and he’s just started work again for the year (he’s a teacher). So if he can sleep I let him.

What do you find funny?  (credit for question given to Rory and this post in particular:

https://aguycalledbloke.blog/2020/02/05/ha-ha-ha-ahh-what-do-you-find-funny/  )

What was the last furry thing you touched?

Well considering I’m sleeping when this will be posted, I have a couple of plushies on my bed. So, I’ve probably hugged them before I fell asleep, or at least laid down with them in some way.

How do you handcuff a one-armed man?

Where did this question come from this week?lol. I really had to think about it. The only thing I could think of was to cuff them to the top of their bottoms? If they have hook or something? But then what if they don’t. You’d have to handcuff them to yourself, maybe? I think I’ve seen on the tv them doing that, but mainly on tv shows and the movies. Whether or not that happens in real life, I’m not sure. I watch a UK show called “Death in Paradise” absolutely love it. There was one episode where the lead detective was handcuffed to a criminal, and the criminal was killed…while handcuffed to the detective.

An Attitude of Gratitude

This week I challenge you to list five things you’re grateful for.   Credit to this goes to Sadje ( https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/ ) because she’s started a challenge to do that daily.  #5 Things.   Daunting?  Well it is to me!  I’d have trouble finding five one time, let alone each day.

https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/2020/02/07/five-things-feb-7th-2020/

  • As always I am very grateful for both the furbabies being here still. They both have different issues and my mum is always talking about how the Chihuahua is probably going to die soon. I hate it when she talks about it, because yes, she is slowing down, and she’s completely deaf. But she’s fine. I think she’ll be good for at least another year. The way my mum talks though, you’d think it’s going to be next week and I hate it. The cat is still twitching, but no fits. So I suspect he will be with us for a long time yet, lol.
  • For all the work I’m getting at the moment. I found out our CEO really doesn’t like Casuals. So end of March, I have NO idea what’s going to happen. I’m working a lot, so making a lot of money. Which I need for the dentist and my partners moving house. His mortgage brother underestimated how much one fee will be. It’s going to be about $6000. SOo I might need to help him.
  • My mum. My mum offered my partner some money when the mortgage broker forgot a pretty big fee (over $6000). Even my own partners family offered him nothing, my Mum did. Even though she can’t afford it. She knows he’ll be able to pay her back pretty quickly.
  • Someone made the movie LotR and The Hobbit in my life time.
  • David Suchet  … Now HE is an actor!

QUESTIONS:

Where do you get your news?

Too be honest, it’s usually when I either sign into my emails or sometimes when I head onto Twitter. My email is yahoo, so I get a whole Australian online news channel before I sign in. However, if I see something I wont comment on it until I’ve actually read through. Especially in this climate, when you have “BREAKING NEWS” you need time to actually digest it, find out what’s what, for example, Jussie Smollet >.<

What ‘old person’ thing do you do?

Oh, everything I do is what “old people” do. My mum pays me out all the time because of my “old personess”. I have to my cups of tea at certain times. Whenever I travel in a car, I put my handbag on my lap, like my Nanna used to do.

When was the coldest you’ve ever been?   The warmest?

The coldest I have ever been, was during Winter and for some reason my partner and I were both sweating through the night. So he wanted the fans on, I was already cold and wearing a tonne of layers, but he still put the fan on. I woke up roughly 5amish and had to run into the shower and have a really hot shower, I just could not stop shivering. My partner sheepishly put his head around and said “Sorry”. It wasn’t just the cold, I also get massive anxiety if I’m woken up, unexpectedly during the night. Ever since I woke up with a massive anxiety attack and couldn’t breathe and I still don’t know what set me off.

The warmest I’ve ever been was probably during a Spring, but I don’t know if that’s because it’s just in your mind? If that makes sense? You go from Winter to Spring, so any sun feels really warm.

Do you eat food that’s past its expiration date if it still smells and looks fine?

Yeah I will. I grew up with the mindset not to waste food. I cannot stand wasting food, and yet my partner is REALLY bad at it. As soon as it hit “midnight” on a best before date, he wont eat/drink it. However, that’s fine, but he also does not throw it out.

Finally:

Gratitude (not mandatory to participate in)

If you’d like to, please share some gratitude from your life.

Today I am just grateful to be here, with the lose of such a legend ie Terry Jones. I am watching Monty Python tonight. What a genius to have lost!
