December Goals…Tick or not too Tick

It’s a new year! Did I finish off the Goals at the end of the year…Let’s start off this new year on a good start!

  • Christmas Cards to be out by the 9th of December (nearly wrote 9th of Christmas!)

I swear that I had all the cards ready and made to go and then I forgot to get envelopes! It was too hot to walk to the shops (I don’t drive). So I had to wait till the 10th and when the day was a bit cooler. Even then I didn’t have half the addresses. I used to have them on my phone, but they’ve disappeared (no idea why). I had to re-ask everyone and so some that I knew off by heart got sent out, but the others were sent later. Then the envelopes I went to use, wouldn’t stick and I had tried to stick them on the way to the post box. I had to go back to my house and sticky tape them. Below is a picture of the first lot that was sent out. I didn’t take a photo of the insides, because I had already written messages inside.

  • ALL Gifts to be bought by 23rd…I am NOT going out on the 24th.

Yes! This one worked out really well! I am, was very organised, two presents didn’t get here in time, even though I had bought them before the supposed cut off time.

  • All food to be bought by the 23rd.

This one was also done, mainly because, once again it was something that had to be done by. For Christmas this year I had to travel three hours away into the middle of nowhere, without good internet on the 24th. Which meant that everything had to be done by the 23rd.

  • I am currently reading a couple of different books at the moment and I would really love to write a review of the book “Small Great Things” by Jodi Picoult by the end of December.

Well I definitely finished and wrote a review, and you can read it here

Five Months till…

Christmas! I know, I know! I am that terrible that is reminding people of things they don’t want to think about at the moment.

Now you may be asking yourself…but it’s the 24th today, not the 25th…Has the Library gone crazy? Not all…It is five months from today until Christmas, Christmas Eve…The last day of shopping! Possibly one of the craziest days of the year! All that last minute shopping…Those last “spare presents” for people who buy you something, but you have nothing for them!

Why am I bringing this up now?

Let’s talk about handy hints, so it’s not as crazy around Christmas time and you can actually relax a bit more around the holiday times. You have to start early! I am going to list some suggestions that I do that helps with Christmas times.

  • Usually I started putting something away each fortnight at the beginning of June. It can be 10 dollars or even up too 50 dollars.
  • Then around August I start getting little bits and pieces.
  • For my mum, dad, brother and anyone that I’m dating I’ll buy three presents. Two can be little fun things, that are not too expensive. The third one is a bit more expensive and is something they have actually asked for.
  • I also have to take into account that, on one side of my family we do a “Secret Santa” thing and the most we’re supposed to spend is $50.00
  • You can get some great deals after Christmas (not all things have to happen before). Wrapping paper, cards…trees, are usually cheaper after the holidays. That way you are prepared for the next year as well. I usually buy another roll of wrapping paper after Christmas. Even if I haven’t run out that year.

Share Your World June Week 4

Share Your World … June 26, 2017

What goal are you working on now? Your goal can be something fun or extremely serious.  Have fun with this question.

I have a few that are serious one and a few that I would love to happen, but they don’t have too or they probably wont.

  • A more permanent position in the Library field, rather than just casual.
  • Leave Tafe for good!
  • Finish writing the fiction story that I’ve been writing for the last few years…Whether I’ll try and get it published, is yet to be seen!
  • Start a little “on the side” craft business. Which I hope would give a little bit more extra money. I don’t expect it too be a booming thing, but just something for a little more “pocket money”.

What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again?

A couple of years ago and luckily my birthday present came in time for a future bad breakup. One of my friends gave me a gift certificate towards swimming with Dolphins. These weren’t like “trained” Dolphins, we went out on a boat, in the ocean, and we had to hang onto these ropes and look into the ocean (with Goggles). It was a very surreal experience, but I didn’t love hanging onto a rope to keep us near the boat, in the ocean, that was very scary too me. I went out a couple of times and then spent the other half sitting on the boat, watching the Dolphins swim by. Plus I was by myself, I felt pretty lonely.

Did you choose your profession or did it choose you?

I feel like I have had to fight to get into the Library profession, but my Gran keeps telling me that she thinks that I was supposed to do something else. Like the writing or acting, or something like that, and I kind of agree with her, but I’m not brave enough to get out there yet and find out what that is. I can’t really see myself doing an 9-5 job. I think I’d go nuts!lol

Have you ever gotten lost?

All the time! Both literally physically and mentally. I was born and raised in the city I still live in and I still got lost all the time. I have people from interstate ask me for directions and I pretend that I am from interstate as well, or that I’ve just moved into the are myself!lol

This week Bookmark Chronicles would like to know (and I would like to know as well)

Where do you get most of your books from?

Physical bookstores – Online – Secondhand book sales – Gifts – Book subscription boxes

(Can only give one answer!)

These days I buy a lot of my books online. I like to read the reviews of the book, all good and bad and then head online and buy them. I always feel so guilty though about it, because in my town, we don’t have the best economy in the world and over the last few years, we have had SO many book stores just close down. It is one of my goals though, this year, too actually get out and buy from actual bookstores…It would save a lot on shipping and postage!

I would love to know as well though where you all get your books from. See the different options out there.

52 Week Grateful Challenge

5. Something someone gave you

This was a hard one for me because there are a few things that people have given me that I am grateful for in many different ways. I have also taken this week as not just a specific gift that someone has given me, but also part of who I am and why I am the way I am, that other people have given me. Those who have given me the gift of making me “harder” by hurting or betraying me, those who have given me the gift of giving me more of an open mind by opening up my world and my mind.

An actual gift that someone have me though, there is one that sticks in my head. I have a huge white fluffy rabbit, it is great for hugging and just sitting against. I have had this bunny for years and year. I think that I may have been possibly about 10 maybe 11 ish years old? The reason why it sticks out to me the most, is not generally because the size of the bunny. I am not even kidding when I say even now, too me, it’s a really big bunny rabbit. However, the reason why it sticks out in my mind is because it was given to me by my Grandmother and it was an Easter present. It was the first year I did not get chocolate. Which was great! I actually am not a big fan of chocolate and it would get wasted on me. This huge plush bunny rabbit is STILL with me, it was the first time I was given a gift that was actually “me”.

What do you do after?

I think one of the most difficult things about a break up and what you do afterwards, is, what do you do with all the gifts afterwards? If you’re going to keep them, or anything, how long do you hold on, and how do you determine which things are items that you want to hold onto?

letting-go-breakup

I had one ex who had kept…well pretty much everything…I am always wary of a person who has SO many things of their past relationship. That that person could literally walk back into the door and it was like they were never gone. I think what was also a red flag was when my ex told me that he had left angry, which had meant he had to go back and get all of her things, clothing, empty paint bottles, even some adult toys. That is having far too many things of your ex’s. You have to let at least some things go.

However, I also think it’s okay to keep a couple of things, but it all depends on the individual. Some people do have trouble letting go and will use the items left behind as a way to keeping holding on. I once had a box that had bits and bobs and over the years it’s gotten less and less as I’ve thrown out more and more. Some of the things that I have held onto are items that are hopeless hopes that my ex’s weren’t complete douche-bags, and that I hadn’t made such horrible choices.

I think the weirdest thing I have ever seen an ex hold onto was the adult toy. For various reasons, firstly is just crept me out. His ex girlfriend bought it for herself, so he didn’t even buy it for her, she bought it for her. The reason they broke up was because she was constantly cheating on him. How could you take a adult toy, without knowing whether or not she used with those others? That and it’s just gross. His friends know all about this particular toy and seemed almost shocked when asked if I had ever used it and I said “HELL TO THE NO!”…Are they kidding?

Have you kept anything from a past relationship? Only feel comfortable sharing if you want, if you have, why? Do you have an issue with current partners keeping items from an ex? What’s the weirdest thing an ex or yourself has ever kept?

Thank you

So as part of my thinking more positive week, I wanted to post a couple of Blogs and say thank you to a couple of people who I think don’t think get thanked as often as they should. People you probably might not even think of when you want to thank someone.

Chemist – I would to say a BIG thank you to my local Chemist. Over the last couple of years my health has been up and down and all over the place. As someone who is not used to be sick this much, it’s very frustrating and my last two “big” illnesses have been not life threatening in any way, but they are annoying and have made life more difficult for myself. When I’ve gone to my Doctors to get help, when I’ve had enough. They either would not listen to what I thought the problem was or they didn’t think it was debilitating enough, to really help me. My last illness, they stuffed up the test results and because I was sick, I couldn’t really get there and then got three completely different answers about what I could do. Which made my anxiety worse.

The reason I wanted to say a big thank you to my Chemist is because they’ve actually helped me. They gave me things to make the pain and anxiety lessen. Little bit by little bit everything has slowly gotten better. If I had been left with the Doctor, I would have had to fight everything alone and never probably found what was wrong with me. It really has made me distrust Doctors a lot, although I will still go. I will probably ask my Chemist for a second opinion as well.

I’ve wanted to say Thank you to my Chemist for a long time and I want to send them something to say Thank you, but I have no idea what I want to send them? Any ideas? What would be appropriate?

Christmas in July…Kinda

A few years ago, I was just a student and was not making much money, pretty much nothing. I was on, I think America and Europe call it Welfare. However, one of the bad thing about being on Welfare, I wasn’t always able to give the best Christmas presents.

Until one year, I came up with a solution and I’ve used it ever since, even now that I work. From the beginning of June, I put away an round amount every fortnight. So if my bank account had 232.57, I would put 32.57 dollars into my savings account, the day before I got “paid” my welfare.

Then from the end of July, I start to get little bits and pieces. I usually get three presents for my Mum, Dad and Brother…and if I’m dating someone I do the same thing. Two presents are usually something a little smaller and then one “big” one. One top of that, until last year I used to get a present for my very best friends and my mothers side have a ‘secret Santa’.

What do you do, are you a Christmas Eve shopper, do you plan ahead? How many of you write Christmas cards?

Where there’s a Row, there’s a way!

Now I am not a knitter, never have been and probably will never be one. However I have noticed that it’s a kind of a “thing” at the moment. I know lots of people who are knitters and I found on Book Riot. As I mentioned before I am not a knitter, so i would honestly have no idea how much time these would take … BUT … I thought that they would be another handy hint for a different kind of Christmas gift!
