Cleaning out my closet

…Kind of. I’m being quiet literally though, with the cooler weather coming in I find it’s been a good time to do some large summer cleaning. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do since the end of November. Between the hot weather and just the general busyness of the holidays, it gets away from you fast. I don’t know about others, but I find the end of year a good time to have a huge clean out. With the present you buy or make for others, I find my house gets cluttered up with boxes and bags.

Enough bags and boxes to get rid of the overflow of things you attain during the Holiday season. Also boxes so you can put old things in to give to charities. As you’ve probably all seen though, the fires have been horrible. So the only energy I’ve had is to give clothes away. Not really get into my room and get into the boxes under beds and ignore the bags full of stuff, stuffed into a cupboard.

This last week though, probably from about Sunday, it has been like Winter. Which you might have seen as well, the flooding that QLD and NSW had too. As the week has gone, it’s getting warmer again., but it’s been cool enough for me to get in. I’ve ended up giving away 4 boxes and 5 bags, so far. I’ve still got “stuff” in my room, that I don’t know what to do with.

The whole point of this post though, is to share with you some things that I have found, even “stuff” from high school, that is still in amazing condition. I also think some may come from when I was a kid, but I’m not 100% sure. That ballet book, definitely did.

Comment: Lawyer offers  to help no voting couple divorce

Too break this story down for those who don’t wish to read it. When the debate first came up, that lead to the postal Same Sex Marriage vote. There was this one particular couple that made this very public proclamation that if the government decided to make “marriage gay” in even a little way, they were going to get a Divorce.

So now that the result has been Yes and the Prime Minister said that he will push it through (hopefully) before Christmas, a lawyer, has come forward and said that pro bono he will help get them a divorce.

This is what they’ve said now:

Earlier this week, the Jensens told Daily Mail they “just need to see the legislation and if it all goes that way.”

“Then we know what situation we’re in and what we’re going to do.”

They have also said they’d get a divorce, but they want to continue living together…Which is both a sin…and lawfully they have to be living apart for at least a year.

Flashback Friday

I hadn’t even realised how much of a theme of 2016 have been for me this week, until I looked through my notifications. Normally this would be the point I’d apologise if it annoyed anyone, but I’ve decided not too…Cause sometimes the world just works like that. Hindsight and all of that.

This post does have a little bit of a different theme though. I cannot believe that it’s been about a decade since I first fell in love with this series…Introducing me to all anime and manga and figurines, everything “nerdy” and good =D I still totally “ship” Zack and Tifa, lol

#FlashbackFriday

Over the past week my work has quietened down a bit so I have been able to voluntarily watch a bit more of the television. Lately the television stations have been a lot of shows from the past and it has been amazing! There is definitely truth in the saying “They just don’t make them like they used too”.

A lot of the shows that I’ve been watching as well are all comedies. Comedies are just my favourites. Let me refresh your memories and lets take a step back on a much “easier and kinder” time.

Good Times” (ran from 74 – 79)

This show is a spinoff from the show “Maude” which was also a spinoff from “All in the Family”. The main premise of the show is two parents and three children living in a housing project in a poor black neighborhood. When I read more about the show I was a little surprised to learn that the show was originally meant to be more serious. It is a great comedy show though. I have never seen the show before and I was laughing through the whole way through.

Who’s the Boss” (ran from 1984 – 1992)

Anthony Morton “Tony” Micelli (played by Tony Danza) is a former second baseman who was forced to retire due to a shoulder injury. He wants to move out of Brooklyn to find a better place for his daughter, Samantha (played the sweetheart Alyssa Milano). He ends up taking a job in up-scale location, as a live-in housekeeper for divorced advertising executive Angela Bower (played by Judith Light) and her son Jonathan. This was an interesting show as it portrayed a women/mother as the breadwinner (even though Danza and Lights characters didn’t date in the show until later). It was probably one of the first shows where this was the case and it was HILARIOUS!

The classic “Different Strokes” (ran from 1978 – 1986)

This show was based around two African American boys from Harlem who are taken in by a rich white businessman and widower and his daughter, for whom their deceased mother previously worked. Although this show is a comedy it has some extremely “hard core” topics, especially for it’s time. The main focus being about racism and in their personal lives all of the stars were hit with persona tragedy.

Throwback Monday

Scrolling through my Facebook posts and I stumbled across this on one of my favourite sites “Book Riot” (Check them out, they have fantastic posts!)

Any ways I came across this post Say Hello to your Friends, Babysitters Club! … Oh my goodness! The childhood and teenage years memories came flooding back and a huge grin came across my face. I can’t even remember what I did with the books, at some point I got rid of them, but reading this article made me wish I still had them!

So the creator Ann M. Martin (Wikipedia page) created this book series which became so wildly popular there was a board game, movie and a TV series. It’s based around a Babysitting Club and the story is mainly focused on 7 girls:

Kristy Thomas

Stacey McGill

Mary Anne Spier

Dawn Schafer

Claudia Kishi

Mallory Pike

Jessi Ramsey

Childhood Flashbacks

So last weekend I saw “Jurassic World” and I absolutely loved it! In fact I (and my partner also) agreed that it may be on of the best movies that we’ve seen all year, and this is including the Avengers movie this year. Not for one moment did I have a “lull” moment where I silently took note of the other people in the cinema. I cried, I laughed, I “YAHOOED” and I jumped in my seat…Several times.

Since I’ve seen it I have been genuinely curious by the people who don’t love it. Now I am all for “You love what you love” it’s not my place to judge others, but most of these people refuse to even see the movie. I get the whole annoyance with too much CGI, but you barely notice it too be honest.

Anyways, WAY off of topic!

There are all these movies coming out this year and I swear that it’s like I am shrinking and feel like I am becoming younger again:

  • Jurassic World
  • Mad Max
  • Terminator
  • Cinderella
  • Star Wars
  • List goes on…

The only difference is that a lot of the them are reboots or are being filmed from a different type of perspective. For example Cinderella, instead of being another cartoon it is now a “real life” film (which I loved).

Has anyone else noticed this trend this year?

I just had to put this here, for anyone complaining that there’s no “plot” in the Jurassic movies…This is the plot of a dinosaur movie!lol

New Years!

Another end of the year and I am sure that there will be thousands of posts today about today and all the resolutions.

I know people are waiting for some emo post (especially on my Facebook page) but I just want to say I don’t really have anything to complain about this year. Sure it’s not all been amazing and I was disappointed a lot, but most of it has been…“The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice-versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant” That’s my theme for this year. I got rid of a lot of toxic things, people and the way I think. I have had so much fun and when the good things have happened, they have been uh-mazing! I have great family, amazing friends and I am particularly proud of myself too, I have accomplished a lot personally =D

What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before?

I swam with dolphins, I still can’t get over surreal that whole experience was! Amazing! I walked Mt Lofty and lived to tell the tale! (I did do it when I was younger, but I barely remember it). I changed my hair a different colour and it now it’s turned into this fabulous colour that I have actually always wanted my hair to be. I have done more little personal things that I’ve not done before. Going on an online dating site and actually meeting someone decent, lol
