Movie Night

Every Halloween, I watch my classic favourites. Every year, I try to watch something different. Just to change it up a little bit. I usually stick with my favourites, at some point over the weekend they’ll get watched.

This year, I can’t really go out, in case I get COVID, or even a cold/flu and then cannot get my teeth out.

My favourite Halloween movies are:

  • Nightmare Before Christmas
  • Hot Fuzz
  • All the 90’s “The Addams Family”, if the show is on, I’ll watch that.
  • Beetlejuice
  • Ghostbusters
  • Death Becomes Her
  • What we do in the shadows
  • Sixth Sense
  • All the Simpsons Halloween specials.

Okay, maybe not the scariest. Real life is scary enough thank you very much.

I would love to hear what yours are!

A Summary and Analysis of Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘The Red Shoes’ Fairy Tale — Interesting Literature

‘The Red Shoes’ (1845) is perhaps the strangest of all of Hans Christian Andersen’s well-known fairy tales. Divining the meaning of some of Andersen’s other stories for children is relatively easy, but a number of aspects of the meaning and symbolism of ‘The Red Shoes’ remain troubling. Let’s take a […]

Questions:

What do you think of professional motivational speakers?  Do you think they motivate?

I think a really good one can. I’ve seen some in person and I’ve watched a couple of videos online. I think in order to be really good though, you need to be able to read your audience well. The biggest problem that I find is that after a while, the motivation tends to dissipate. So if you don’t motivate yourself in that time, you will lose it.

Do you have a favorite flavor?

Mint or Peppermint…Not always spearmint though…Weird, huh?lol

While out walking, you hear a rustling in some bushes.  What do you think of?

My mind either goes blank or I start thinking “God, I hope that’s a possum or one of the local cats”lol…It always is,lol…Or it’s a bird of some kind.

What’s your ideal temperature (nature-wise)?   Hot, cold, temperate and mild, humid or bone dry?

Either Springish type or Summer going onto Autumn weather. So warm, but not stupidly hot, lol. So a little warmer than temperate.

Attitude of Gratitude

That I got ask back to work!!! Woohoo!!!

Winter Favourites

Australia is now heading more and more into Winter…Never fear though! Now it’s time to crack out those Winter Time Favourites!

Winter Clothing:

I have a weakness for beanies. I used to really like ear muffs, but for some really weird reason, they make me feel off balanced.

Do you have any favourite Winter clothing, or accessory?

Winter Food:

I have a favourite REALLY bad comfort food Winter dish, that I just love and I probably wont eat this Winter, because my cholesterol will go out the roof!…It’s two minute chicken noodles AND mac ‘n’ cheese.

Do you have a favourite Winter food?

Winter Drink:

There is nothing better than, well I think, a nice hot cup of tea on a cold Winters night. I can’t really drink coffee anymore, it heightens my anxiety. I hate drinking anything cold, but sometimes I get sick of drinking just tea. I also love hot chocolate or cocoa with marshmallows. I’m very much a kid at still really, lol.

What are some of your favourite Winter Drinks?

Winter Activities:

Of course above all my favourite activity is reading and writing. However this year I am (if you’ve been a regular reader of mine) I am planning on starting to make my own Candles. Who knows? Maybe this will become my favourite Winter activity! Maybe I’ll do this for Winter and Autumn, something else for Summer and Spring? Let’s see!

Do you have any specific Winter activities?

What would be your ideal fantasy way to spend Monday?

  • Slow cook…Oh my goodness, I’ve just been introduced to slow cooking…I am in love! You can smell the yummy food all day, it’s fantastic!.
  • Some serious cleaning out.
  • Take my dog for a walk.
  • If I’m at my partners house, I love cleaning up while he’s at work.

What one person that you are out of contact with would you like to say thank you to?

I can’t really think of one person, generally (even ex’s) I will thank for anything good or positive they brought to my life…Who knows when I’d see them again! There’s only one because I cannot remember if I thanked him or not. In year 6 (so about 10-11 years of age) I was bullied pretty much by all my classmates (my friends were in another class and I was not allowed to swap for some reason). There was one classmate who actually made me laugh, but of course if I tried to be friends with him, “I must love him”. I don’t think he realised how much he got me through.

List your favorite toys or games as a kid?

  • Hide and Seek – I was the BEST at this! I played with my cousins and brother and I was the lightest so I could hide up in the highest tree and hide in the tiniest spaces.
  • I loved my Barbies! They had a whole story going on there. There was one who could only eat junk food or she’d die! There was another who was psychic and she was also the group back manager. All my non-barbies “dolls” were the Barbies parents (I remember having an Strawberry Cupcake Doll) . Good times! Some of the outfits and Barbies that I got have come back in Fashion. I recently rebought a Rock and Roll 1980’s Barbie (link to pinterest…I also had the peaches and cream dress).
  • We all had a lot of little cars and trucks. We made car families and we were so original. We had the “Truck Family”, who only had trucks, the “police car” family. There was the Mayor’s family, who were all the fancy cars. We had a group of “teenagers” that were what you called nearly on the scrap heat and they were all fosters. Of course the Mayor’s daughter was in love with one of them!
  • I also was given my cousins cabbage patch doll, but at the same time I was given a “Magic Nursery Doll” – (goes to a YouTube video). I still have those two! They’ve been put away though for my future children.
  • I had a puppy surprise and my brother had a Footrot Flats dog and one of the “surprise” puppies was black and white.
  • Since I was a Ballerina when I was little, I also had a “My pretty Ballerina – ebay link” Who’d hang out with my magic nursery and cabbage patch doll.
  • My top 3 favourite though was my life-sized doll, who we called Brittany. She was my “sister”. She was in all the family photos. Then my brother turned her into a goth and made her a little black dress and we still have her too. I have to take a picture of her.

I am having such a good time remembering these =D Thank you so much!

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

In all honesty the question above has really been making me smile and now I’m looking for the other toys from my childhood. Thank you!

Toy and games that will make 90’s girls (and some boys!) super nostalgic

How do you like to spend a rainy day?

I love to curl with a cup of tea or coffee, depending on my mood. You will also probably find me playing one of my favourite computer games, either, Sims 4 or Guild Wars 2. Lately I have started roller-coaster tycoon lately.  I am also watching the Safari Live that I am obsessed with. You might also find me though cleaning the house. I find that if it’s a cold rainy day it helps me keep warm and keeps the heater off for a while (helps with the bills as well) but it also makes me feel like I’ve actually done something that day.

List at least five favorite treats. (They do not have to be sugary).

  • I love these things called “Soy Crisps” except if I have too many, I will throw up though.
  • There’s a yummy summer treat that I love making called “Rainbow ‘Broken Glass’ Jelly“. Link is too a YouTube video recipe. It’s really simply and you can use whatever colours you makes. I usually make them around the Summer/Christmas holidays.
  • I loooooooooove chocolate custard and or mousse.
  • Chocolate Chip cookies…Especially Double Chocolate Chips. I used to get just them at Subway, no sandwiches, and now I’ve discovered a recipe that I make myself =D
  • I enjoy chewing on healthy fruits as well, sometimes I feel the need for them. My favourite fruits to chew on are granny smith apples (the green ones) and I love to eat banana’s.

Where’s your favorite place to take out-of-town guests?

We usually will take them for a walk around the city, which depends on the weather. A great place we like to take is this little German town called Hahndorf, it’s so quaint but is a great place for a holiday day out. it honestly depends on what the weather is like, most people come and visit around Summer/Holiday times. We have a couple of gorgeous of beach towns around as well.

You are trapped in an elevator, who would you want to be trapped with?

Definitely my partner, mainly because he’s the only one I could trust not to talk about my anxiety while we’re trapped in the elevator, lol

Favourite Places

27…My favourite place in my city….

I knew instantly in my head where my favourite place is in my city, my head honestly went straight there. I am very lucky in that there are some extremely beautiful beach towns and places and in my city. I am actually organising a room at one of these places for New Years. It’ll be Summer and they have fireworks on the beach we’re going too. We haven’t booked the rooms yet, but when tax time happens. I’m hoping to have enough money to book them (I should). We have some completely gorgeous beach towns, they are probably not as well known as Queensland, but every Summer time (Dec-Feb here) the beach towns are always booked.

Also though not being Queensland is something to be grateful for, because unlike a lot of the other major cities in Australia. You can plan things in the last couple of months. Rather than needing to organise your holidays nearly a year in advance. I went to Sydney for New Years once and my best raved how great it is on New Years…I honestly didn’t find that to be true. It was overcrowded and no space to sit and then trying to get home…It took nearly 3 hours to travel 30 minutes usually, just for a 15 minute firework display on the Sydney Harbor Bridge. That’s ridiculous and there is definitely not enough public toilets in the mean time either.
