The Cycle

I am writing this before the latest Dr Who episode, because I wont really have the time to write anything about it before Monday ends, and I want to write this before Monday ends. I have no intention for the moment to actually write about the actual episode, this is more about the “cycle” of Doctor Who. Which can be briefly be explained in the diagram below:

Dr Who Cycle

I can definitely say this is true of a lot of Dr Who Fans. If you head to the Facebook pages and people are just making suggestions…SUGGESTIONS! The hate in the column in comments can be overwhelming and is quiet frankly , embarrassing sometimes. I usually miss this step a lot because I know I will probably like the new Doctor. I have liked all the Doctors so far.

I have to admit though, when I first start to watch I miss the last Doctor for a bit. I think to myself “Oh they would have been brilliant playing against this character” or something like that. I usually do end up getting to a point where I can’t imagine the Doctor being played by someone else, but then I am always pleasantly surprised. For example, my personal favourite Doctor was Matt Smith. I love Peter Capaldi as an actor, but I never thought that I could love anyone with River Song (played by Alex Kingston) as much as I love her with Matt Smith…But I was wrong! But I think Peter Capaldi and Alex Kingston has AMAZING chemistry! I wept…WEPT…When they got to the “Last Night at Darillium”.

Do you follow the Dr Who cycle? Is there a Fandom that you apart of that has a similar cycle?

Shipping

No, I don’t want to stat building boats, or start sailing…I get all of the motion sicknesses…That would be a VERY bad idea!

Shipping” meaning by Wikipedia:

initially derived from the word relationship, is the desire by fans for two or more people, either real-life people or fictional characters (in film or literature) to be in a relationship, romantic or otherwise. It is considered a general term for fans’ emotional involvement with the ongoing development of a relationship in a work of fiction. Shipping often takes the form of creative works, including fanfiction and fan art, most often published on the internet.

Shipping in the nerd type world, to break it down, is when you have two favourite people who you see as a couple. These can included people from the book, or sometimes you can even cross couple from different fandom and from completely different genres.

Some couple even get their own names, when you combine the two characters names together.

Except for brother and sister…or brother and brother, sister and sister, or parental with child…That’s just gross…Except in a purely familial way.

So, for example, some of my favourite “shipping” characters are:

  • Thorin Oakenshield and Morgana from “Merlin”.
  • Tessa Gray and Will from the Infernal Devices.
  • Mary and Gideon from Reign (I still like Francis, but Gideon seems a little more “grown up”)

Doctor Who is Back =D (No spoilers, just a review)

I am a HUGE Doctor Who fan, the biggest shame about the show is that it has such few episode and you have to wait nearly a year to see it again (apart from the usual Christmas Specials). Although my “favourite” Doctor is Matt Smith, I LOVE all of them, I just happened to resonate with him the most.

I know that Peter Capaldi and his time as the “Doctor” hasn’t been the most popular. I think it is extremely unfair, the writers (for whatever reasons) have been letting him down. Constantly seeming to have “apologise” for his age (cause stoopid young people). Also it seems to have been the “Clara show” a lot, which is a little weird, because I used to really like her.

So talking about the “Magicians Apprentice” I really did enjoy it. From the beginning, before the music started playing the theme, I was hooked! Who wouldn’t be when you realise that it was going to go back to more ‘classic’ Doctor Who rather than about a ‘love story’.

This is a story about the Doctor and the monsters.

Cry me a River

This was actually posted all over Doctor Who official sites on the 2 of September, but I am still SO happy about it.

I am a big Doctor Who and I am an even bigger River Song and “her Doctor” fan (the amount of YouTube fan made videos is actually really quiet embarrassing).

Professor River Song is coming back (aka Melody Pond).

I cannot WAIT until I see Alex Kingston and Peter Capaldi together…I think it is going to be magnificent! Let the countdown begin =D

Benedict Cumberbatch!

So technically this post is more like “Trickery Tuesday” rather than Magic Monday. It’s been a long weekend and I did not anticipate being out for so long on the Monday and I obviously had no Blog scheduled.

I am so excited though one of my most favourite actors is coming out to Australia and I am going to be going to be seeing him! It totally makes up for Matt Smith cancelling (although I do feel bad for whatever he is going through right now). I think that Benedict is a magical creature all on his own. Benedict Cumberbatch was born Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch in the UK and both of his parents are actors. Benedict Cumberbatch already had an agent by the time he finished Acting classes, which included a year off to teach English to Tibetan monks.

Just a small list of appearances he has made are:

Sherlock Holmes
The Hobbit (voice Actor)
Star Trek
12 Years a Slave
The fifth Estate

Ladies and Gentlemen we present to you the talented, the gorgeous, the utterly undeniably amazing Benedict Cumberbatch soon to be starring in Australia!
