Earth Day

Earth Day is here!

Earth Day is an yearly event on April 22 to show support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries

The Biden Administration has decided to convene a global climate summit on Earth Day 2021. How exciting is that!

It sounds like it’s going to be a really exciting Earth Day this year, with many events taking place over live video! They will be multilingual. You can still do things leading up too and after Earth Day too. The Earth doesn’t just stop spinning, because we’re not “doing” Earth Day anymore.

  • Plant a tree or lots of native plants
  • Start a compost pile
  • Learn about recycling, not everything is able to be recycled. Even with the the little arrows!
  • Use less paper, and try to print less too!

Earth Day

This video always makes me cry and it feels appropriate for Earth Day

Hey, what about yesterday?
(What about us?)
What about the seas?
(What about us?)
The heavens are falling down
(What about us?)
I can’t even breathe
(What about us)
What about everything
(What about us?)
I didn’t do?
(What about us?)
What about nature’s worth?
(Ooh)
It’s our planet’s womb
(What about us?)
What about animals?
(What about it?)
Turned kingdoms to dust
(What about us?)
What about elephants?
(What about us?)
Have we lost their trust?
(What about us?)
What about crying whales
(What about us?)
Ravaging the seas?
(What about us?)
What about forest trails?
(Ooh)
Burnt, despite our pleas
(What about us?)
What about the holy land?
(What about it?)
Torn apart by creed?
(What about us?)
What about the common man?
(What about us?)
Can’t we set him free?
(What about us?)
What about children dying?
(What about us?)
Can’t you hear them cry?
(What about us?)
Where did we go wrong?
(Ooh)
Someone tell me why
(What about us?)
What about baby boy?
(What about it?)
What about the days?
(What about us?)
What about all their joy?
(What about us?)
What about the man?
(What about us?)
What about the crying man?
(What about us?)
What about Abraham?
(What about us?)
What about death again?
(Ooh)
Do we give a damn?

Happy Earth Day

If you had notice, you might have noticed that your Google browser has changed and that is because today is Earth Day (website)! This is the 46th year that the Earth Day organisation has been around for.

It’s a great day to stop and reflect on how lucky we are to have such a beautiful planet. A planet full of life, full of wonderful and beautiful things. Wonderful, beautiful things that are full of wonder and “how did that happen”?.

So get off the social media today (yes, I see the irony in writing this on a “social” place) Head outside, take a moment to breath in that air, except if it’s full of pollution. That’s kind of the point of Earth Day though really. To see and appreciate what we have here, what we have here now. To protect what we have because if we don’t it wont be here forever ❤
