Lucid Dreams

So last night I had a “lucid dreams“. Now a lucid dream is where you are asleep and you are having a dream but you feel like you are in it, like real life. Everything you can touch, you can feel and you can clearly see what is happening. Even after you have woken up, for the first couple of minutes after you have woken up you feel like you are still in the event.

I have lucid dreams a LOT…Like I honestly need to learn how to draw with how active my mind is! I have images running through my head all day and all night it feels like. Greek philosopher Aristotle observed: “often when one is asleep, there is something in consciousness which declares that what then presents itself is but a dream”. One of my most common lucid dreams is when I am in a new relationship and I have a ‘lucid dream’ and if I wake up upset, it usually means that I care and if I’m not upset usually means that I don’t.

Share Your World…Week 29

Share Your World

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a ballet dancer when I was little, I still love to dance, but I love Latin dancing more than Ballet these days. I think it was more about being on stage and getting to dress up.

What was your favorite food as a child? Do you eat it now?

I was always a weird one, I actually used to really enjoy my vegetables and I LOVED my banana’s. I swear that I eat worse now than when I was a kid.

If you were invisible, where would you go?

I think honestly I would go to the beach and just there for a bit and just enjoy the view (apart from the fact that it’s the middle of Winter here right now) Sounds like a great plan!

Would you rather forget everyone else’s name all the time or have have everyone for your name all the time?

I would rather have other people forget my name all the time, I would be horrified to forget other peoples name! I AM horrified when I forget people’s names, lol

You can say that I’m a dreamer

So I recently read a really great blog post and a great read by The Zombie ShuffleAre you a Dreamer or a Realist? (go and have a read, great blog posts!)

I thought that it was a really interesting topic because it’s something that I’ve felt like I’ve struggled with a lot during my life. It started to make me think about some changes in my life and how I’ve come through them. I live a lot of my life “behind the veil”, in a way I day dream a lot. Many times while I’ve been day dreaming, I must look so unhappy because everyone tells me to “keep smiling”lol.

It’s an interesting topic because a lot of people assume that because I day dream I must be a “dreamer” or sorts. So I live in a world that’s full of puppies and baby bunny rabbits. This isn’t the case though. Last night for example, I pointed out to someone that saying “I’m not judging…” and then proceeding to judge someone doesn’t make it less of a judgement. Then they swore at me and told me to “shut the $%^%^% up” because I don’t know them. Which was ironic since they made a judgement on a celebrity that they don’t know either. It was one of those situations where you realised that they are in the little bubble and how dare someone disagree with them.

I believe that you can dream, dreaming gives me a safety net when the world gets a little rough and too hard. This might be by watching a movie or tv show where I can completely immersed into, listening to music and having a shower, writing.

Yet at the same time I am extremely aware of my responsibility as a human being on this planet.

I even did a test through Facebook Who is your Greek God parent? Where I got the God Apollo and this was his description“Your father is the god of the sun! You never cease to bring brightness to a dark world. You are wise and enjoy music. Be proud of your joy, but remember to recognize a grave situation when you see one.”

It’s tough being a “Idealist Realist”. You see all the wonder of the world, but feel the sadness of the reality of the world and you just cannot ignore it. It’s a little like having Ying and Yang scenario.

Dedicated to Teddy Bears everywhere!

Trawling through Facebook today and it is terrifying me the hatred that is out there. I mean hatred by ALL men and women from all backgrounds not just one in particular. Do these people even realise that they even sound like the very people that they hate?

Anyways I was having a really hard time not giving into the fear and yelling at them all (by writing in cap-locks of course) and telling them how stupid they all are. Then I found this video. It’s time to all hug our teddy’s (press for link to article and video) If you ever feel scared and alone, just hug your favourite teddy (because it might not be a bear…Mine is a plush Lion and now a Olaf)

The author and creator of the film is by Tyler Novo and you can find the entire film including the credits.

Fantasy Lovers

We’ve all had one, haven’t we? That person that we want, that person we can’t have, the one that we can never have? You’re not in love with them and you’re not planning or are going to cheat on your current partner, but you can’t help but think about them. What would it be like to be with them, just one night with them? Even when you’re single and you still can’t have them, you want them, they’re the one you think of during the night, the one that “helps” you to get over your heart break.

I feel really terrible, with my fantasy guy, I could never have him. But I really want him, even for just one night. Even when we were both single and even before I met the guy I’m with now, I can’t have him and I really wanted him. You see, I woke up to hear him singing one morning and I don’t think he knew that I was there. He has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard and he plays the guitar…but I was lying there, completely falling for his voice, and at the same time I was lying right next to my partner, at the time.

I had laid there so still, as to not wake up my (now ex) partner and I just listened to this amazinginly beautiful voice signing one of my favourite songs of all time and strumming his guitar. Soak through the thin walls and into my mind and I haven’t been able to shake it out of their since. He’s been the one that I sing about in the shower, he’s the one that I think about in the darkness of the night and this will be the only time I ever tell about it to another soul.

There is nothing worse than a fantasy lover that you can never have.

The one who makes you feel like this… (the song that inspired me to write this post)

The Sandman

Today seems like the perfect time to write about “The Sandman” mainly because we are taking care of my Aunties dog and he has developed this new little habit of crying really loudly at 5am every single morning. The night before he came here I didn’t get a good night sleep either, so I have been trying to make up for it and it’s just not happening.

Also I apologise right now if my spelling and grammar is shot to pieces, my brain is just “done in”.

The Sandman comes from the North and Central European folklore and he is supposed to bring good dream, helping you to fall asleep by sprinkling magical sand onto and into your eyes. The eye sleep that you wake up with the next morning was supposed to be proof that the Sandman has done his job.

Not this Sandman…but it’s a really good song all the same.

Dreams…

Dreams are pretty magical things are they not? Well…sometimes they can be your worst nightmare. You can be in such an amazingly awesome place and then one night you’ll have a horrible dream or nightmare and it affects you for the whole day.

Not every thing Magical in this world is a good kind of Magic. There are bad witches, bad wizards, bad fairies and there are definitely bad dreams…or also known as “Nightmares”. As much as nightmares are truly horrible, they are also an essential part of dreaming. Sometimes (like the one I had last night) they can make you unaware of feelings or situations that you either don’t want to deal with or hadn’t realised that you need to deal with.

If you are like me, my dreams, whether they are good or bad, they tend to be really lucid. A lucid dream is where you can feel, touch and taste everything. It feels SO real that sometimes, in the first couple of minutes after you wake up you still think that it’s happening. I can’t even begin too tell you how many times I have woken up from dreams and they have stayed with me for days after. I even had a dream diary at one stage that I still have and read from time to time…I should really start one again…

Sleeping Beauty

Today is a public holiday in my state of Australia and I have been really struggling to decide what to write for today’s Magical Monday post. I think I have done enough “misery and heartbreak” posts and I am going to be positive =D

So what to do…what to do…I woke up this morning after a lovely sleep in, which I have not had in the last couple of months. It is amazing how having just one morning to sleep in can make you feel so well and happy =D That’s when I had a spark of imagination, why not talk about my second favourite Disney princess!

Now I say second, but especially with the whole new bunch of Disney princesses that have come out over the last few years, that list seems to be changing a lot these days! Sleeping Beauty though has always been a favourite of mine. I am definitely a good sleeper! I have just always thought that she was so beautiful and since I am a dark beauty of course I want to be the opposite of everything that I am! ~.^ I love her long wavy golden hair, her eyes are purple…I have always wanted purple eyes. Also I have the same love as she does, running through forests.

Aurora (also known as Sleeping Beauty) isn’t always in the group pictures of the other classic Disney Princess (mainly because she is asleep for a good quarter of it). I think though, she is just as lovely and sings with just as many of the forest animals as any of the other Disney princesses. Also I think that she has one of the best songs. Every girl (and boys too!) has at least once in their life felt like this about someone.

If you haven’t already though you NEED to see Maleficent with Angelina Jolie. The film is stunningly beautiful, the acting is utterly gorgeous. It is a great story from the point of Maleficent, the Sorceress (bad fairy) who puts the curse on Aurora where she will prick her finger on her 16th birthday.

A little history on Sleeping Beauty:

There are many different versions of the Sleeping Beauty the “The Beauty Sleeping in the Wood” by Charles Perrault or “Little Briar Rose” (German: Dornröschen) by the Brothers Grimm is a classic tale involving the princess, a sleeping enchantment and a handsome prince. The version collected by the Grimms was an orally transmitted version of the originally literary tale published by Charles Perrault in “Histoires ou contes du temps passé” in 1697. This was based on “Sun, Moon, and Talia” by Giambattista Baslie (published posthumously in 1634).

In the Grimms version Maleficent is the 13th fairy, where as in Perrault’s version she is the 8th fairy.

Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote two poems based on Sleeping Beauty.

In one version an Ogre lineage is a major part of the story.
