Donate

One of the things that I REALLY love about Christmas is how much more people are willingly to donate or help others out. So I thought that I would post about a couple I’ve heard about or have donated too. This year and definitely more than other years, I’ve been donating. $5 dollars can make a lot of difference, especially if a lot of people do!

The first is for the animals, because who doesn’t love the animals.

Sheldrick Wildlife Trust

The next is for the Rape Crisis Centers in Scotland. Now normally, I wouldn’t speak about just one rape crisis center. The way though the Centre was run OFF of social media by so called “concerned women”. It literally made me want to throw up. Especially when these “women” accused the Rape Centers of being on the wrong side of History. After though, people donated to them like you wouldn’t believe!

It made me believe in the GOOD in people again.

One for the children. This was actually really hard to find, because a lot of charities that support children, have come under scrutiny for not supporting anyone who doesn’t fit their “criteria”.

I’ve gone with UNICEF, mainly because I don’t *think* I’ve heard of them being bad. How terrible is that? You might need to look at your local charities for the kids. In my state, in Australia, a lot of retail stores do what is called a “Christmas Wishing Tree”. Where you can either give a gift (has to be new or not ruined), donate money, or you can donate money to buy a gift to be put under the tree.

International Day of Charity

Today is the International Day of Charity.

What are the things you think of when you think Charity?

  • Others
  • Money
  • Donations
  • Donating
  • Help
  • Helpfulness
  • Time

I think a lot of people when they hear “Charity” they usual hear ‘spend money on someone you will probably never met’. However there are ways to do Charity without spending either any money or very little!

Good question!…Mystery Lady

  1. We all know (well I assume we all know) that you can donate clothes, furniture etc to a wide variety of Charities and apart from maybe the gas to get to the stores, it doesn’t cost you a thing!
  2. Spare change? Consider putting some of it into one of the tubs of the people standing/sitting all day for their cause.
  3. Consider a clothes or book swap, with your friends, family, co-workers as well, or community. You can bake and even raise money that way bake and swap!
  4. It seems that every cancer has a charity for it. With each charity comes a “theme” night/day. Consider wearing jean for genes day, A lot of charities here, in Australia, and a lot of the women’s charities. They will movie nights, make up nights etc.

Do you have any suggestions?

Dry July (Australia)

This year I have decided to take part in Dry July, which takes place in Australia. You can (if you so choose) to help me by donating on my profile, or indeed, any profile. Funds raised through Dry July go towards cancer support organisations across Australia, to help improve patient comfort, care and wellbeing.

Support Lolly’s Library by helping to raise money for Cancer Research

Now I am not 100% sure if people overseas can donate, but please consider it! If everyone that follows me on WordPress donated even a dollar, that would be over $700!

Dry July OR #DryJuly

Go Dry this July

I have decided, even though, I am really not drinking at the moment. I am going to participate in Dry July this year. I am hoping and asking people (pretty please) who would like to donate. I have to admit that initially I thought Dry July was going towards some sort of alcoholism research program. It’s about Cancer research that relates to alcohol. Also if you chose to donate it does not mean you have to stop drinking, it’s just myself that will not be drinking. I’m not even actually sure that people overseas can donate?

(If I could get everyone who follows me on here, to donate at least $10…That’d be over $7000! Imagine!)

April the Giraffe

If you read my post earlier this week (Ideal Realist) about a particular Giraffe that the world is now watching, April the Giraffe. Below I’ve posted a YouTube video about April the Giraffe and any questions that you may have about the situation. Direct from the source!

Now, in the video they mention about fraudulent websites that are popping up all over the place. Making promises that they are putting any money you donate towards the Giraffe, which when you hear in the video, they haven’t received any money out of the norm websites. So I’ve posted the genuine website for April the Giraffe, the real one.
