It’s okay to be single…at Prom

Formals or Proms as they are called in Australia are an interesting time in a young persons life. No matter what year of schooling that they may be in. There is SO much pressure to have the perfect “dance”. The perfect dress, the perfect “ride”…and of course the perfect date…But do you NEED to even have a date?

I went to both of my senior formal/proms without a date and I ended up having the most fun. Here’s my list of reasons why:

  • I didn’t have to worry about my date “looking” at other girls. Apparently that was a big issue at both of them. Especially for my best friend whose then boyfriend got depressed over how his gorgeous his ex looked (they subsequently got back together a couple of week later and now my best friend has gotten rid of all those photos).
  • I could dance to any song that I wanted too. Without having someone else sulk.
  • All the slow couple dances song, I just ate my food and most of the guys either complained the whole time, or just didn’t dance anyways.
  • I still got to take photos with everybody and actually missed a group photo because I was dancing having a lot of fun! Funnily enough all the “couples” had nothing else too do.
  • The only couples that actually seemed to have any fun were the ones that had been together for a while. In fact, at both my Formals the most happier couples had been together over both the Year 11 and Year 12 Formals consecutively.
  • I didn’t have to “colour match” with anyone else either, I could wear whatever colour I wanted, and whatever style of dress too!

Share Your World … April Week 3

Share Your World – April 17, 2017

When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pencil or pen?

I prefer pen, I will usually only use a pencil in a emergency. For example, if I’m on the phone and I need something to write with. Also if I’m writing on something that I shouldn’t be writing on, but it’s the only piece of paper around. Then I can erase it later.

Would you rather be an amazing dancer or an amazing singer?

Good question! I love to dance everywhere anyway. I think though I’d love to be an amazing singer, because I can make more a career from it. I love dancing and I was a ballet dancer for a long time, but the dancing world is SO competitive and you can only do it for so long. Unless of course something goes wrong with your vocal nodules I suppose.

If you were on a debate team, what subject would you relish debating?

Oh, probably some ancient thing. Who was to really blame for Cleopatra’s downfall…Mainly because that was my big project on my senior year and I got a really good grade for it,lol

What are you a “natural” at doing?

This is going to sound really “lame”. I am naturally at being me =D

Share Your World: Ribbonrx Edition: April 3 2017

(Please read Ribbonrx Blog…Such a variety of important topics!)

What’s something you like to do the old-fashioned way?

Dance! I love those dancing videos of Astaire and Rogers, and I have such a crush on Gene Kelly. They just moved. When they dance, they just seem to move (sounds like a really stupid way to describe it I know). The best way I can describe it, it just seemed natural to move that way, almost as natural as walking. All that twerking and krumping, it’s just not dancing to me, it’s all just disjointed…Just my personal opinion.

What’s your favorite genre of book or movie?

Its hard to say musical a favourite genre for books, but musicals truly are probably my favourite genre. I guess if I was looking for a genre that was to fit both, would have to be fantasy. Lord of the Rings springs to mind where the genre really does fit both the book and the movie.

How often do you people watch?

I do it quiet a lot, if I’m at work I probably am doing it at least once or twice a day. Where I work currently we are the central part of helping people find their way, we are the front desk and we’ve got these huge windows that we can look out at. It’s incredibly addictive. It’s incredibly addictive for people watching and day dreaming on a quiet day.

What have you only recently formed an opinion about?

Good Question…There is a lot of different issues out there and lots of different opinions and I have re-looked at a lot of mine own. This is what I’ve discovered. There are far too many different opinions out there and that is what they are…Opinions…Just because you or I think it a certain way doesn’t make it’s right. For anyone, or any level. You can sit on your social media and try to change the meaning of a word to suit yourself, it still doesn’t mean that’s what that’s means. You can tell yourself that meaning or that word is not the same when it applies to you, so you don’t have to think of yourself as the same as the people who hurt you, but you are still doing the exact same thing. I get it, it’s like the bullied becomes the bullying, or the abused become the abusers, it’s a very well known thing to happen. You trying to sit there and saying though “Well it’s the not the same when I do it” Doesn’t make it suddenly change. I mean with anything, not just bullying and abuse. If you are doing the exact same hateful and saying vile things, like those that were said or done to you…Then yes, you are the same as them. You don’t get a “Get out of Jail” free card.

Get to Know the Blogger: 100 Questions No One Ever Asks Tag

hello-my-name-is

I found this Tag on Vrushali Blog (you should all go and have a look here) They found it on ChocolatenWaffles’s Blog. Please go and have a look at both of them. I am doing it a little differently, because there are 100 questions in all. I am going to be breaking it up into 4 different entries over the month of February (that would make it 25 questions each time).

So let’s begin!

  1. Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed? There’s a reason I do not watch scary movies before going to bed, and this is one of them. I can sleep with either the doors open or closed. Although I do tend to sleep with them closed, because if I can see the clothes in there, I may start thinking to myself to have a clean out. Actually I probably would.
  2. Do you take the shampoo or conditioner bottles from hotels? No, I have never done this. I have no problem with other people doing it, and I don’t stop them. I just don’t do it myself.
  3. Do you sleep with your sheets tucked in? I get too claustrophobic to sleep tucked into sheets. It’s actually one of the things I hate about sleeping in a hotel. They’ve gone to such a effort for my bed to be nice, that I don’t like to un-tuck them, lol
  4. Have you ever stolen a street sign before? Not really interested in stealing street signs.
  5. Do you like to use post-it notes? I do use them and I am honestly surprised that I don’t just have a notebook or something made out of post-it notes. Actually…That is a really AMAZING idea!
  6. Do you cut out coupons but never use them? Usually when I cut them out I use them.
  7. Would you rather be attacked by a bear or bees? I am allergic to Bees, so if they got me in the right spot, that could be deadly for me. So could a bear though!
  8. Do you have freckles? I do! My freckles are really odd as well, because 90% of them are in groups of three, in some way or another. I’ve got three in a triangle, three in a line, etc.
  9. Do you always smile for pictures? Depends, not all the time. It really does depend on the situation. It depends what it’s for.
  10. What is your biggest pet peeve?  I have a few, how do I number it to just one? The one that’s annoying me at the moment are people who just make insensitive and unnecessary cruel comments. Then get all mad when you call them out on it. I’ve gotten into a few fights who call other people ‘too’ sensitive and then when I’ve questioned, politely, why did they make the comment. They get SO upset. It’s like people really think they can say something horrible and everyone’s just going to agree with them?
  11. Do you ever count your steps when you walk? I only do when I think about it.
  12. Have you ever peed in the woods?  I have.
  13. What about pooped in the woods?   I haven’t, but if I REALLY had too (we all know what I mean) I would.
  14. Do you ever dance when there is no music playing?  Of course! I don’t know if it was because I was a professional dancer for a good half of my life, but I just find myself dancing in all sorts of places and situations.
  15. Do you chew your pens and pencils?  I haven’t for a really long time, I think the last time I did was possibly in High School, so that was just a little…a little…over a decade ago.
  16. How many people have you slept with? A lady never tells ~.^ Plus it’s still not “Alright” for me to have slept with anyone, according to the public, lol
  17. What size is your bed? My is a Queen…I think?
  18. What is your song of the week? In all honesty I don’t have a “song of the week” I have just been listening to my Beauty and the Beast soundtrack, over and over again.
  19. Is it okay for guys to wear pink? Of course it is and sometimes they even look better than girls in it! I personally think there somethings gorgeous about a man who has the confidence to wear pink.
  20. Do you still watch cartoons? Yes, and I will probably will for a very long time as well. There are some good cartoons out there and Disney/Pixar etc are all cartoons too.
  21. What’s your least favorite movie? I can’t think of a specific movie, but I am really not a fan of plain romance movies. I just find them boring and pretty predictable. I have never seen a Ryan Gosling movie! I even prefer those Sharknado movies over the romance movies, they give me a good laugh.
  22. Where would you bury hidden treasure if you had any? You think I’d tell you?
  23. What do you drink with dinner? It depends on the dinner and my mood sometimes. If it’s something more casual, generally a cool drink like water or a soft drink, maybe a juice. If it’s more fancy something alcoholic. Like I said though it can depend on my mood, if it’s been a rough day I may want something more alcoholic with my dinner.
  24. What do you dip a chicken nugget in? Barbecue sauce!
  25. What is your favorite food? Lasagna. It’s pretty much the only food I can eat when I don’t want to eat anything.

What is your earliest memory?

My earliest memory is actually a nightmare that I had, I don’t know why it’s stayed with me for so long. I’m more of a, if someone tells me about a memory I’ll remember it, so it’s weird that I can remember a nightmare. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Mr Squiggle, but I dreamt once that he was trying to kill me. That’s my earliest memory.

What was the last photo you took with your phone?

I could show you … My partners cat cracks me up sometimes.

Have you ever danced in the rain?

When I was little, I used to love doing it. As I got older though, I guess I got less brave and just can’t stop thinking about how cold it is to do and it just didn’t seem as appealing.

What is the longest you have gone without sleep?

It’d have to be about a day, it was the last time that I had an energy drink as well. I could not get to sleep and it was pretty scary. It was weird too because I used to drink them and then stopped for about a year. It was my first one in a year, I just assumed that I’d be alright, but I wasn’t.

Foot Tapping has always been cool to me!

I’m not sure if you’ve all seen this video by now, I used to do tap dancing when I was little and every now and then I get into a step-ball-change movement.

First Day of Spring!

Today is the first day of Spring, and it’s really grey and cold outside, when it has been so pretty the rest of the week. Spring is my favourite time of the year and it’s here again! This Winter has felt so cold and grey for such a long time, I didn’t even have to put on my heater this morning to get ready =D Despite the horrible weather, it’s still kind of warm =D

Spring

dragons-loyalty-award

The Dragon’s Loyalty Award is meant to acknowledge those who regularly read and comment on your blog. The rules for it are pretty simple:
–Show off your achievement by displaying the award.
–Link back to the person who bestowed this award upon you.
–Nominate up to 15 of your regular readers (less than 15 is just fine, though).
–Let them know that they’ve been nominated.
–Share 7 interesting facts about yourself.

Seven interesting facts about me:
1- I’m more of a “dancer” in the shower, rather than a singer.
2- I used to have a “dream diary” and I will kill you all if you try to find it =P lol
3- I am into Reiki http://www.reikiaustralia.com.au/
4- I have always preferred vegetables and fruits over everything else, I was always the weird one,lol
5- I am actually not a chocolate person, I have to be in the mood to eat it…I like my chips/crisps much more!
6- I am really enjoying the tv show Gotham and I am honestly really surprised.
7- I have such a diverse life, I have people from all walks in my life. It’s great!

Now, I’m supposed to nominate 15 regular readers and alert them all of said nomination, but I am just going to nominate a few (possibly I would love to know more about them ~.^) It’s up to them whether or not they want too do  it.
