Nurture Thursday – Competition

Nurt Thurs – Competition

I decided to refer this to a Halloween type Nurture this week. What I am going to write about for “Competition” is about costumes. Every year, I always see these one kind of memes, especially when it comes to girls/women and their costumes.

Generally ones that are like

“Slutty” Girls vs “Nerdy” Girls or

“Other” girls vs me

What I am trying to write is, dress up how ever YOU want too! You want dress with a costume that shows all the curves, do it. If you want to dress as a favourite character, that may not show as many curves, do it, or one big curve (haha). I’ve always found Halloween to be a time, when you can be who you want to be, who you’ve always wanted to see what it might be like. Put that mask on, put that “costume” on, be who you WANT to be.

One month…Kind of…Halloween!

Now in Australia we don’t really celebrate Halloween, it’s still very much an American thing. However, it does seem to be on the rise “down under” Halloween has brought up some very important issues these last few years. From issues relating too appropriate costumes, to the decorations to “pranks”.

Also “A nightmare before Christmas” is my favourite…Just ever, lol

Ideas! Come at me!

In Australia we don’t celebrate Halloween here, but every time I have been over to America I always make sure that when I do head over there I go there during Halloween… It is actually one of my favourite holidays, I wish we had a bigger celebration of it over here. Although it has been picking up.

However, I sillyily decided to host a Halloween party and people actually want to come. So now I have to come up with some Halloween idea! Can any of you help me? I’ve managed to come up with a few ideas:

  • Jelly with snakes or some kind of eyeballs (edible)in it.
  • Toilet paper rolls with eye shaped holes in them and glow stick, putting them in random parts of the house/garden.
  • I have these table top decorations.

Also, if any of you know of any “traditional Halloween” food or drinks please let me know! I have absolutely no idea in that regard.

Gumeracha Medieval Fair

This year for the first time ever, I finally headed down and went tot the Gumeracha Medieval Fair and I did not regret one moment of it. Even with the completely windy way we had to take to get up there (I get motion sickness, windy roads are a big “Ewww”)

Oh it was lovely and so authentic and the people that dressed up there really inspired me. My favourite part had to be the Knights or the “Sirs” that took up the sword-fighting.

South Australia doesn’t really seem to get big festivals and a lot of the music festival are pulling out more and more, due to “lack of sales”. Even though when the big acts do come out here, they do really well. It was such a lovely day despite the time of year, the weather held out and it was all very magical. It really inspired me to get some kind of costume together foe next year! Except I don’t know what to go as, so that means that I’ve been looking through some of the websites…

And of course there is always eBay… http://www.ebay.com.au/bhp/medieval-costumes

Changes are coming!

This is definitely feeling to be the year where I think for certain things are definitely going to happen. I already feel fussy and I know that if I don’t get to doing something soon the motivation will disappear, but the problem is…Where to start?

I already have ideas for doing some cosplays this year, but I don’t sow so I don’t even know if it’s “wrong” to get someone else to make an outfit for me. I know what I wish to do, but we’ll see if it happens. Cosplaying is not cheap at all!

There is also some motivation for this blog and maybe writing up some reviews. Now I have never done a professional type of review before, I have always just written my personal opinion, so will have to do some research into that. I have actually thought about starting to write a novel of some kind, but I really feel like you have to have a calling for that. I’m not sure what I’d write about or where to even start!

Watch this space for more, changes are happening…

The weekend!

So the weekend is nearly over and I really should be getting ready for this barbecue I have to go, but am so tired. It’s been a bit of a brilliant weekend…I have always loved Halloween even though I am not America and am secretly glad that it’s becoming bigger here! =D

Before I start to bore you all with details of what I did. I’m writing mainly because I had such a 360 with a lot of stuff that has been going with my life. I went to a wedding as well and it was such an eye opener! I am sick of being miserable over guys who just waste time. Watching this wedding (and it was really short too…I didn’t know weddings these days could take so little time!) really just made me open my eyes and made me feel like I want to get married…To the right person at the right time of course. It was a fantastic feeling!

People though…very interesting creatures. I think this weekend also proved to me though as a culture we are becoming more self obsessed and it is not really serving us well as a community. People taking photos of themselves being “introspective” while ignoring the pains of their friends and the world. Apparently someone having a crush on someone who clearly isn’t interested in them is more important than someone who is actually going through nasty break-up? All night I had to listen to love songs that I really didn’t want too.

Anyways, all of this is making me realise how much of a good person I want to  stay and be and how much I want to be with a good person. Not someone who claims to be good, but is never given the opportunity because the girls want all of your friends.

(I kind of love how my costume kind of came out Harley Quinn meets Betty Boop…Boop-Oop-A-Doop)

Halloweenie!

I am so happy that this Fridays edition lands on one of my favourite holidays! =D I’m not an American or Mexican, I am Australian so it’s not a “traditional” holiday here, but it grows every single year and I have never been happier about it. In fact this Friday night I am getting together with a few friends, dressing up and going out for the night. Guess who I am going as?…One Clue!

I haven’t got the full costume on here, but I will take an update on the full costume. I just don’t really have the time to do the full outfit today…but I promise a full picture! The dress is from Black Milk Clothing. I am now really in love with this store, I already bought a TARDIS and they have a new “wrapped” collection coming out for Christmas!

I’m just putting this video here to get myself in the mood…I hope it works for you too! =D
