One month…Kind of…Halloween!

Now in Australia we don’t really celebrate Halloween, it’s still very much an American thing. However, it does seem to be on the rise “down under” Halloween has brought up some very important issues these last few years. From issues relating too appropriate costumes, to the decorations to “pranks”.

Also “A nightmare before Christmas” is my favourite…Just ever, lol

I made a thing =D

I actually made this last week for an Heroes and Villains party I went to last week and I decided to put an “Easter theme spin” on it.

  1. Buy white bunny ears.
  2. Gather paintbrushes (I used a roll brush to do the majority of the painting).
  3. Gather red and black paint.
  4. Wrap cling wrap around the headband of the headband.
  5. Paint one ear black and one ear read (Try not press down to hard as paint will soak through…
  6. Wait for each ear to dry individually.
  7. Once both ears are painted and dry, unwrap cling wrap.
  8. Using a paintbrush fill in the white spots that you wish to cover up.
  9. Wait for paint to dry.
  10. Place on head =D

Another year over…

…Well not exactly yet, except it’s no another 354 days until the next Halloween again … Already there’s Christmas every where, well actually I could have sworn that they started advertising it as early as September. We’re not big on Halloween here in Australia, I even bought treats for the trick and treaters…We had none, yeah I was disappointed…We have so much chocolate! I don’t even like chocolate that much, lol. (I was Miss Beetlejuice)

I hope that you all had a fun and, more importantly, safe Halloween…I know that America is where Halloween originated from, but I’m unsure as to what other countries may celebrate it. The other one that I am aware of is Day of the Dead, celebrated largely through Mexico.

So I thought that I’d share a few photos with you from my weekend. One of the foods that I made that was such a hit and I would definitely make it again is Candy Corn Popcorn…It is really sweet and extremely easy to make!

Recipe for Candycorn Popcorn

500 grams Candy Corn
225 grams white chocolate melts
1 Bag popped popcorn (flavour is up to you…I choose Johnnys Sweet &Salty)

  1. Place the popped popcorn and candy corn in a very large bowl (you’ll need plenty of room to stir popcorn).
  2. Melt the white chocolate melts in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring after each time, until melted. OR Heat a small saucepan of water to boil, bring down to a simmer, place a small glass bowl on top of saucepan (making sure that it doesn’t fall in) and place white chocolate into glass bowl, watching and stir as it melts.
  3. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the popcorn and candy corn and stir to coat each piece of popcorn.
  4. Pour the mixture over wax paper and spread into an even layer.
  5. Allow to cool in the fridge for at least 15-30 minutes.
  6. Break into pieces

Halloweenie is Here =D

So the day is here! I was cleaning the house yesterday so I didn’t have so much to do today…How clever am I =D Except for the whole loving with somebody else who still has to move their stuff.

So what is your favourite Halloween game, movie, food? Oh I am so excited…What are you going as? I am dressing up as “Miss Beetlejuice” and the costume fits so amazingly well, I can’t wait for people to see! =D Have a fun (and very safe) night =D

Halloweenie!

I am so happy that this Fridays edition lands on one of my favourite holidays! =D I’m not an American or Mexican, I am Australian so it’s not a “traditional” holiday here, but it grows every single year and I have never been happier about it. In fact this Friday night I am getting together with a few friends, dressing up and going out for the night. Guess who I am going as?…One Clue!

I haven’t got the full costume on here, but I will take an update on the full costume. I just don’t really have the time to do the full outfit today…but I promise a full picture! The dress is from Black Milk Clothing. I am now really in love with this store, I already bought a TARDIS and they have a new “wrapped” collection coming out for Christmas!

I’m just putting this video here to get myself in the mood…I hope it works for you too! =D

Eurovision

It’s another edition of Magical Monday…YAY! =D I hope today’s Monday isn’t too tough for you! (On a completely different note, I am trying to think of a different subject to write posts about as I feel that I am not writing on here enough..Watch this space for more!) For this edition of Magical Monday, I have decided to write a little about Drag Queens.

This is actually a subject I am quiet informed on as my brother is one and if any of you followed me on Facebook you would be able to see how amazing of a Drag Queen he is!

One of the main reason I decided to write about this subject is because a lot of my followers are not from a Europe so I am unsure on how many of you have even heard of “Eurovision” and if you are unaware of who won the competition this year. The winner of Eurovision this year was a ‘bearded lady” called Conchita, who is a man in Drag. When I first heard about it a lot of people were upset about the winner. So I sat down and watched it and was shocked to find he actually has an amazing voice and the song reminded me a lot of a Bond theme tune.

Russia has already put a ban into a parade for their own singers (which I found extremely sad because they girls are beautiful singers). Eurovision is a competition that takes place in a Europe country/city/town and has produced some amazing acts like ABBA and I have no doubt that Conchita is going to make a huge impact on the world in one way or another. She is already getting interviews with huge name chat shows hosts.

Please listen to Chonchita song below:

As I mentioned before my brother is a Drag Queen and this weekend he travelled to Darwin to participate in a new competition called “Queens of the Galaxy”. Which is where one Drag Queen from each state of Australia is nominated by their fellow drag queens about who should represent their state/territory. Anyone who knows Drag Queen knows how competitive (nice way of putting it) Drag Queens. However, my brother won the first ever competition of Queens of the Galaxy, which means he was the first Queen of the Drag Queens in the whole of Australia. My entire family have been extremely proud of him and how he has represented his particular community.

Another television show that I think represents Drag Queens beautifully is “Ru Pauls Drag Race”…I have watched at least four seasons of the show and it is one of my favourites and I never miss it! Ru Paul is utterly beautiful, both inside and out and is also hilariously funny! One of my favourite quotes of her is shown below and I repeat it to myself and some of my friends continuously!

SupaNova Madness

Well this weekend has been amazing and such a life changing experience as well as a perfect way to end a horrible chapter in my life! For those who do not know what Supanova is, it is basically a video game, anime, magna, movie and television convention. Like the ones they have in America, but they are only now starting to grow in Australia.

I went as a character for the first time ever and it was AMAZING!!! My character was Katarina from LoL or Leagues of Legends, which is a computer game. It was the most fun I had had in such a long time and the sore legs, head and behind the next day was completely worth it!

I had originally got the costume together for my ex, who introduced me to the game and for mainly that reason I chose not to dress up as her, but it felt fitting at this particular Supanova convention. You see, last years Supanova was pretty much were I met my ex. So to dress up as Katarina and at Supanova after a year later felt like a circle of life thing…An AWESOME circle of life thing!

I had so many people come up and take pictures with me and had professional photos done! I had professional LoL players compliment my outfit and now they want to meet up with me later and do another shoot! I will definitely be doing this again…So many ideas, I am not short of those!

Thumbs up to awesome times and now I can definitely say I am excited for the rest of the year! Everything feels different now…
