When the movies is worse than the Book

I have not posted “The Nerd Life” post in such a long time, and I cannot deny that it feels good!

I don’t know how many of you follow me on Instagram (find me here:Lady Lolsy) If you do you would have seen my story when I was the XMEN movie and how they nearly ruined one of “my girls” Rogue with that stupid movie! I have basically never watched another one of the movies since. The only ones I have watched were the Wolverine ones and I didn’t even see the second to last one. I only saw the last one because my partner dragged me along. I got so bored during it.

Anyways, I’m digressing…again…

The movies really ruined the books for me, but not the tv series or the comics. It got me thinking. Have any of you ever had a movie or book ruin the movie or book for you?

The Makeup Book Tag

I found this awesome tag on Hot Shot Headlines (and you should definitely check them out) and considering how little I wear makeup, I thought that this would be great!lol…I usually wear make up if I have a lot of “things” on my face and I want to cover them, or if I’m going out.

Primer – Pick a book that left a lasting impression on you.

Playing Beatie Bow by Ruth Park.

Concealer – Pick a character you wish didn’t exist.

I don’t have a good answer for this one – I think most characters, if written well, should exist!

*While I agree with the above statement there is actually a character from a Jodi Picoult book, that I just don’t like. It’s also probably my least favourite Jodi Picoult and he is a big reason for that*.

Nicholas from Harvesting the Heart – Jodi Picoult

Foundation – A favourite first book in a series.

Clockwork Angel/Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.

Powder – Pick your favourite last book in a series.

Clockwork Princess/Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.

Eyebrows – Pick a book you think everyone should read.

Any ancient classical reading, for example, The Odyssey, Art of War, .

Eye Shadow – Pick a book with your favourite colours on the front.

A Faery Guide by  – It probably sounds a little childish, I’ve had this book for years and the cover is just gorgeous.

Eyeliner – Pick a dark and mysterious book.

I have a book I swear! I have been trying to find it all weekend. It’s based on the premise on Andy Warhols “15 minute of Fame” and the lengths some people will go to get that fame and that kind of “being noticed”.

Mascara – Pick a long book.

The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien … It’s just one book, it’s not split up like LotR, those are long even so,lol

Blush – Pick a book with a cringe-worthy romance.

I don’t really read romance  type books, I kind of find them all cringe-worth.

Highlighter – Pick a book that brightens your day.

Not really a “book” but whenever I read “Archie Comics” I enjoy them a lot. #TeamVeronica =P

Lipstick – Your favourite book kiss.

As mentioned above one of my favourite series is Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, and one of the reasons for that is the love between Tessa Gray and Will. (I still hate the ending of that series though).

Share Your World … Week 39

Just a note from Cee’s Photography:

“For the next three weeks the questions are from kids.  The Happy Quitter wrote me this weekend and told me about her workshop she does for neighborhood kids and the some of the kids had some suggestions for the Share your World challenge.  I realize there are more than 4 questions so feel free to answer all or only 4 questions.”

  1. What’s your favorite comic figure and why?

My favourite comic character would have to be “The Archies“. I have been reading those comics since I was a child. In this crazy world, I have access to so much that I am able to purchase a lot of Archie things lately. I know a lot of people would probably be a little shock since Harley Quinn could be classified as a ‘comic character’. I am just trying to look at this as purely comic characters.

  1. Name something you wish you could like.

I wish that I could like things straight away as soon as they come out, like the normal people do. I’ve always had this thing if people are pressuring me or pushing me to like something, to watch something, I pretty much will instantly hate it. Whenever a new show comes out and everyone is pushing for you to watch it the moment it comes out. I wait a whole season and THEN start watching it,lol…I think it’s really freaky that people will just push and push you to watch a show, like their life depends on who gets to watch the show the fastest.

  1. Tell me about your first crush / first date / first kiss.

I remember my first non-celebrity crush, I still remember what he looks like…And I still like to point out that I had a crush on him first before Hanson came out, lol. I still remember thinking how gorgeous he was, with his long flowing blonde locks, he was the first boy I liked who was a blonde. Then I find out he drove a mini and he had me.

  1. What sign are you? Do you believe in astrology?

I am a Taurus (The Bull). I do to a certain degree, I do believe that they give us certain characteristics. I mean if you were too look up what it “means” to be a Taurus, you’d probably find that’s pretty much me. Even the personality trait for wanting the finer things. While I generally am known for being happy with my lot, somehow whenever we go shopping. I can always pick out the most expensive item. It’s a little knack, that I can never afford!

Do you read graphic novels and/or comic books?

I used to read comic books all the time. When I was younger I used to read the series “The Archies” all the time, I used to have a really great collection. Somehow though I’ve lost a lot of them, people borrowed and never returned them, some would just disappear throughout moving. The ones I still do have I will reread every know and then.

However, as I have gotten older I have started to read graphic novels. I don’t know how that’s happened or if graphic novels are just more “grown up”, but that’s just what’s happened. I’ve been really enjoying a lot of well-known fairy tales as graphic novels, mainly Grimm Fairy tales.

Harley Quinn

My 30th is coming up soon and to celebrate it I will be having a Fantasy Rouge party. Pretty much people will be coming as a favourite cartoon character but putting a ‘moulin rouge’ twist on it. I have decided to put a twist on one of my favourite female characters…Harley Quinn.

Harley Quinn is a fictional character and a villain in the DC Universe and is most well known as the psychotic love interest of the “Joker”.

Harley’s first ever appearance was in the “Batman: The Animated Series” on September 11, 1992, the episode ‘Joker’s Favor’. Originally Joker was supposed to jump out of a cake as a distraction to capture and take a group of Gotham police officers hostage. However the writers and creators thought that this may seem too bizarre, even for the Joker. So sidekick “Harley Quinn” was made, although the Joker ended up jumping out of the cake himself. Harley was originally created just as a walk-on part, but soon become a popular character in her own right.

Harley Quinn became fascinated with the Joker while working as his psychiatrist after becoming intrigued by his crazy motives. Joker, knowing of Harley’s past having a mother who constantly calls her young daughter “evil, a con-man for a father and a dead beat brother. The Joker uses this information on Harley to gain her sympathy. This eventually works and dressing up as Harley Quinn, she helps the Joker escape Arkham Asylum.
