First Day of Spring!

Today is the first day of Spring, and it’s really grey and cold outside, when it has been so pretty the rest of the week. Spring is my favourite time of the year and it’s here again! This Winter has felt so cold and grey for such a long time, I didn’t even have to put on my heater this morning to get ready =D Despite the horrible weather, it’s still kind of warm =D

Winter Heat

I HATE Winter, I swear it’s been so cold this year and I know that last weekend we had one of our coldest days is quiet a few years. This year has been particularly rough though. Last weekend was cold in Melbourne and when I came home it was freezing, much colder than Melbourne, which was odd. This weekend I spent the weekend with my partners family and I was freezing.

What do you all like to do when it’s cold? Generally if I’m by myself I’ll cuddle up with a blanket and luckily my puppy means that she loves sitting on my lap and is like a little water bottle. This weekend was horrible because there was no heating in the little granny flat we were in and it got below 0! I don’t deal well with the cold and I hate not being able to have a little heater around to just take the edge off while I get changed. My bones and everything just hurt. I hate it…

This is mainly a rant blog because it’s so cold and now I’m home and all warm and it does feel magical. I feel my body coming to life again.

Are you, my dear readers, a Winter or a Summer person…Or even a Spring or Autumn person?

What type of pets do you have or want?  Or do you not want pets?

I have to say that I am very lucky to be a fur-aunty to a 3 kilogram chihuahua crossed-Pomeranian and sometimes I feel that she’s the only one who has my whole heart. Which also scares me a whole lot. I lost my Pomeranian a couple of years ago and I was completely devastated. I can’t help it though, she’s just so sweet.

What was or is your favorite cartoon?

I am not sure that I could ever just pick one, but if I really did it would have to be Rogue from X-Men (mainly the 90’s version). I don’t know why but I’ve just related to her, even though our temperate is completely opposite from each other. I just really enjoy her character and the whole “not being able to touch”. I’ve always had issues with touching and hugging etc.

When you’re alone at home, do you wear shoes, socks, slippers, or go barefoot?

I have to wear always wear something on my feet, they just get to cold. Even sometimes during Summer I have to still have socks on. When I’m at home it’s usual socks or my slippers, I find it hard to wear nothing on my feet.

Are you a traveler or a homebody?

I am definitely a homebody, mainly because though I don’t really have the funds to be a traveller. In my own head I am a traveller, lol.

The Winter Blues from Robert Frost

In the great land down under we are heading into the colder weather. So to get myself started and make myself actually believe it’s here, instead of being in denial about it. I am not a fan of Winter, I really do not like it. It hurts my body, I wish I could hibernate during the next few years, I think that every year.

So to “celebrate” the upcoming weather, here’s a poem I found from the King of Sunshine himself…Robert Frost.

Looking For a Sunset Bird in Winter by Robert Frost

The west was getting out of gold,
The breath of air had died of cold,
When shoeing home across the white,
I thought I saw a bird alight.

In summer when I passed the place
I had to stop and lift my face;
A bird with an angelic gift
Was singing in it sweet and swift.

No bird was singing in it now.
A single leaf was on a bough,
And that was all there was to see
In going twice around the tree.

From my advantage on a hill
I judged that such a crystal chill
Was only adding frost to snow
As gilt to gold that wouldn’t show.

A brush had left a crooked stroke
Of what was either cloud or smoke
From north to south across the blue;
A piercing little star was through.

I hope you all keep warm!

Olaf and Summer!

In case you have been wondering, I am a Australian person, the good old “Down Under”. Today is the first day of Summer, although you wouldn’t know that with the grey clouds and the threat of a storm coming.

Feeling in a particular good mood today as it’s the first day of Summer, first day of Christmas and the last month of this pretty bad year, lol…So while I am putting up my Christmas Tree today, why don’t you all enjoy this song that I found…You might have heard of it ~.^
