My new job means that I am working right up until Christmas Eve, but here in my state of Australia, Thursdays are late night shopping. The 23rd is a Thursday, so that’ll be the night I get all the vouchers, and I SHOULD be ready then. I’ve got three pays until Christmas Eve. Including tomorrow =D I’ve already bought the BIG presents for each person, I buy the BIG Christmas presents for.
My usual “thing” is, 3 presents for:
With that, I like to buy them all one big thing. Usually with my Mum, she faffs about so much, I can’t get her something big. Like, I always make sure I ask, even in a roundabout away. My partner, really loves Lego Technic. So, I’ve gone through with him, some of the Lego Technics that are out, but he doesn’t know which one I got him.
With my Secret Santa present on my Mum’s side, if I can afford it. I will get all three presents. We usually ask for three things.
And then, the rest … I start putting money, even $10, away from the start of June!
Do you have “rules” or things you do to get your Christmas presents?
Christmas! I know, I know! I am that terrible that is reminding people of things they don’t want to think about at the moment.
Now you may be asking yourself…but it’s the 24th today, not the 25th…Has the Library gone crazy? Not all…It is five months from today until Christmas, Christmas Eve…The last day of shopping! Possibly one of the craziest days of the year! All that last minute shopping…Those last “spare presents” for people who buy you something, but you have nothing for them!
Why am I bringing this up now?
Let’s talk about handy hints, so it’s not as crazy around Christmas time and you can actually relax a bit more around the holiday times. You have to start early! I am going to list some suggestions that I do that helps with Christmas times.
Usually I started putting something away each fortnight at the beginning of June. It can be 10 dollars or even up too 50 dollars.
Then around August I start getting little bits and pieces.
For my mum, dad, brother and anyone that I’m dating I’ll buy three presents. Two can be little fun things, that are not too expensive. The third one is a bit more expensive and is something they have actually asked for.
I also have to take into account that, on one side of my family we do a “Secret Santa” thing and the most we’re supposed to spend is $50.00
You can get some great deals after Christmas (not all things have to happen before). Wrapping paper, cards…trees, are usually cheaper after the holidays. That way you are prepared for the next year as well. I usually buy another roll of wrapping paper after Christmas. Even if I haven’t run out that year.
So I wanted to make a little post to help get you through the rest of Christmas Eve (personally I am having a hard time to stay awake) So I thought that I would post a few nice Christmas type links and pages that you can look at. The first is a link to Kermit the Frog singing “It feels like Christmas”. This has to be one of my favourite songs of the whole of Christmas. Kermit is just a happy little chappy.
Although it is a little late now, I have always enjoyed a little window shopping. Just looking at now Disney Store and there is so much fun stuff on there!
Of course you can’t ever go past a good classic Christmas song either!
Isn’t it crazy that in one week it will all be over with? The stressing, the struggling to find and get people the presents that they actually wanted? The week before Christmas I always start freaking out, I don’t freak out on Christmas Eve as a lot of people seem to do. I think that’s mainly because if I’m not ready by Christmas Eve, I’m stuffed any-way.
Today I have a spent a lot of time today with enquiring why my packages are not here yet. My head has come very close to exploding as to why no one is getting back to me. But then I got my Christmas present for myself! That’s another thing I do every year, I always buy myself a little something. This year I bought a little Dragon from Little Fat Dragons and she is beautiful! These pictures do not justice to how gorgeous she is though.
So when do you start really worrying about Christmas? Do you start getting scared on Christmas Eve, or have you started worrying about it months ago?
