International Day of Charity

The International Day of Charity is an international day observed annually on 5 September. It was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012.

I love Charity! I love giving to it, I love shopping from it. There is nothing that I don’t love about Charity. I think my “favourite” Charity at the moment is “The Guide Dogs, Australia”. There is a BIG tie there though with the “Australian Conservation Foundation“. Of course, animals, haha.

We have an ad for a Charity in Australia that helps you get Australian kids to school. I sort of feel weird about it. I love giving “things” to like the homeless, like if I have nice clothing, I get rid of the ones, I haven’t worn in forever or don’t fit me anymore. I just feel with that one, maybe the Governments should do more with that?

Like, if kids cant bring lunch/food with them. Maybe there should be some sort of Government Funding to help kids get a lunch? You know what I mean? Blind people, autistic people, VETS. They’re all things that people need help with, like having a Guide Dog. I don’t know, it makes me feel mean, lol.

We’re Australians, we should be able to do things like give a lunch to kids for school. Have a charity that works for kids getting school clothes, do you know what I mean? Like even if it’s something to do with the local Libraries. You can could have “fashion shows” to raise money to get kids clothes…I don’t know, lol … I remember when I was young, we did that for where I did ballet. I still can kind of remember it and it was fun.

Do you have a favourite Charity?

Need too

…What that is, I don’t know what. But I have at least a little under a year to figure it out.

Do any of you ever have that feeling, that you know you should be doing more with your life? After this past weekend and getting frustrated with nearly every aspect of life these days. I sat there drinking and letting off steam. Thinking, there must be more than this.

There must be more than getting seriously annoyed with people on social media, and their “opinions” and what “they think”. I don’t care what these bumbling buffoons’ think, or their opinions. There MUST be a more constructive way to let off steam. All I have to do now if think of it.

But ideas, I don’t mean like come off social media. I mean, but the frustration into something … I guess … crafty.

Do you know what I mean?

I always seem to write really great blogs when I’m frustrated, even if I have to schedule it for a week later. Make sure the grammar and the writing is not that bad. But in the meantime, maybe there’s other things I can do. The only thing is, what? Writing does help a lot, maybe starting a book about my frustrated thoughts and turn that into some sort of novel?

I follow, on Instagram, this little page called “Plushie Adoptions” and I think that’s a fantastic idea. I was thinking someone turning something like that into something, like helping animal rescues centers. Then my idea expanded, into making little gift baskets for all new animals that come into adoption centers. You know like, a lot basket of goodies. Plushies, treats in it, blankies. All sorts of thing, things you can probably purchase from a op shop. But, because I’m young…ish. I would want to get some sort of money out of it. As horrible as it sounds.

Then my brain starts going, just do it Lauren, for free. But then my needing to eat and pay bills side is all “Well you need to eat and pay bills”.

I have so many ideas, definitely charity-wise. But I just don’t have the money to start funding that sort of thing, and it’s SO frustrating. I guess I could look into it? Maybe even get a small grant from somewhere.

Actually the more I think about it, the more excited it seems…But would I be brave enough?

When did money become more important than people?

I’m going to start this post with this, can we cancel Rowling NOW?

Basically, the story goes like this. A person was making jokes about the terrible things Rowling has said, one of which Rowling has said “I ignored child porn”. We know what she meant by it, but it was just really funny to joke about, and how she’s constantly having to reiterate things.

Rowling found out and threatened to sue this person. All the TERFs, in their usual hypocritical way are all “She’s so powerful”. And it’s like “Oh my fucking god, can we cancel Rowling now?” lol.

At least I can take comfort in the fact, that TERFs and transphobic people are constantly exposing their transphobia.

Anywhooo, the point of this post. People were trying to justify what she was doing, and in fact, was trying to silence someone. They were trying to justify it by saying that she could be a billionaire, but she’s not because she donates her money to charities.

You know who else could be a billionaire, but is not? Dolly Parton. You know what Dolly Parton is doing, as well? Helping people, not demonising them and harming groups that are already marginalised, during a global pandemic. Oh, and not forgetting how Dolly Parton never gave back a Humanitarian Award either.

BeLikeDolly.

Donald Trump actually did donate his salary back to the Government, does that make him a good person? Nope, lol.

I literally said this and I quote (can I sue myself by the way?) … I don’t care if JKRowling donates all her money to charities, leaving her penniless. She’s still a terrible human being.

International Day of Charity … (is not today)

The International Day of Charity is this Sunday, but I figure there is no harm about talking about it now. After all what is the point of finding out about it ON the day? Because then what can you do! You might have things planned and what’s the point. Also though, every day we should all practice a little charity.

Charity has a huge scope of what one can do.

The date of 5 September was chosen in order to commemorate the anniversary of the passing away of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 “for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitute a threat to peace.”

United Nations

So what can you do?

The great thing about charity, is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to do it spread the Charity around.

  • Donate blood
  • Instead of going to those “fancy” stores – Choose a op shop or charity shop instead. They honestly do have some GREAT stuff. When I need new clothes, I go there first and so far, have never had to visit any “fancy” clothes store.
  • I would suggest considering making food for those who may need food in your neighborhood. However, I would research into what food they can actually eat first. You don’t make a lasagna, to find out that your neighbor is a vegetarian! lol
  • If you do want to do something for your neigbours, make sure that they even want it. I have a elderly neighbour and she is extremely independent. So she sometimes finds it a insult to be asked if she wants anything.
  • Again with the food, I’ve been seeing a lot of Afghan businesses helping the Afghan’s refugees coming into our country. My advice? Don’t wait until a horrible thing happens to help your communities, do it now, do it today. Get something going NOW, so when horrible things do happen. Life just keeps happening. Routine can help in a lot of situations.
  • If you have left over food, that you know you’ll never eat. Find out what centers are near you where you can drop some yummy food off. There are already charities that will send out food to those in need. Consider finding out if you can help in some way.
  • Be Kind to others. I wouldn’t call it “Charity”, but then again, you don’t know what strangers are going through. Heck, sometimes we don’t even know what we, ourselves, are going through.

Most importantly though, never do Charity to get a ego stroke. Never do charity to even get a “thank you” Do it, because it’s the right thing to do.

Mermaids

No, not this one…Sorry, Ariel. Please don’t just like and not read this post, only like if you read and like this post. This is important too me.

These Mermaids

Mermaids . org. uk

Mermaids are a organisation in the UK, that are consistently under attack from transphobic people. However, they do AMAZING work! For #Pride 2021 … Mermaids theme this year is #MyPrideFamily … Now I am white, straight and as basic as one can get. But even I know how beautiful of a theme this. Family is not always blood ❤ Home and Family is where the heart is ❤

You can also help this foundation, but donating to their crowd justice fund here

You can read for what for, by looking at the link, but I’ll explain a little bit.

LGB Alliance IS a hate group, who hide behind saying they protect women and children, and are just looking out for “sex based right”. Which is not a thing.

For those in the UK you might have seem them on the BBC, talking about trans issues, despite them being anti-trans and anti-LGB, if you don’t fit into their criteria of LGB.

Whatever sweet nothings the so-called “LGB Alliance” whispered into the ear of the Charity Commission the truth was set out in a speech by LGB Alliance director Bev Jackson on 9 March 2020. She described their real goal as follows:

“We’re applying for charitable status and building an organization to challenge the dominance of those who promote the damaging theory of gender identity.”

So Mermaids, supported by LGBT+ Consortium, Gendered Intelligence, LGBT Foundation, TransActual, and Good Law Project, are appealing the Charity Commission’s decision to award the so-called “LGB Alliance” charity status.

Quiet a few people have appealed to the Charity Commission already. The response they got? They were being told that they were being too “emotional” So we suspect that the head, may be transphobic. LGB Alliance should have never gotten Charity status to begin with. So far, the Charity Commission, can’t even tell people WHY LGB “Alliance” were given Charity status. The response from them has been less than professional.

There is a little difficulty, because this would be one of the first cases of it’s kind. Where a organisation who are so blatantly bigoted against a group of people, including people from the LGB community, were given Charity Status. They haven’t actually run a cause or tried to get money through a crowd fund, FOR the LGBTQIA community. Any crowd funders they have run, have all been for discrimination against someone else. Or court cases that would discriminate against trans people and those they don’t think fit THEIR standard of LGB.

So please really consider donating to this cause. It’s a first of a kind, and a really important one. After all, who can you trust if a Charity Commission is being run by hateful people?

We also believe that LGB Alliance are the biggest reasons why the BBC wont allow their staff to March or celebrate at Pride, even off duty. Not sure if those in the UK have noticed, the LGB Alliance always talking on the BBC, about trans/women’s issues. Despite being anti-trans and despite coming after LGB people. Why Liz Truss, feels comfortable disbanding her LGBT Equality Panel, and attacking Stonewall. We think they want to replace Stonewall with LGB Alliance. Which would only happen over a lot of people’s dead bodies. Mine included.

The Times, The Telegraph and the Spectator REALLY hate Stonewall, and have no problem bashing them either.

Thrifty Me and Thrifty You

If you follow moi on Instagram yesterday, you would have seen me post on the old Instagram of moi in some clothes from a “thrift shop” More namely ‘Save the Children’. I am surrounded by “thrift” shoppers and they always get these amazing things and deals. I don’t know why I haven’t gone into them more often! There’s a real nice one about a five minute walk from one of the places that I work at.

What I really love about Thrift/Charity shops is that the money is going to a different charity. Depending on where you shop obviously, some are for people, some are for your own countries, some help other countries, some help animals.

While I was waiting for a regular prescription, I decided to pop over to our local charity shop, and got a whole outfit for less then $10! I actually popped into see if they had a jar that I could have played with to make a “poison” bottle for my Wednesday Addams Halloween outfit.

Its been making me think though, since I went. What if I go to the more upmarket ones, I could probably find good gifts for Christmas? Even the little one near me had good enough stuff that I found a whole outfit, what if I took the time to actually look. I think of the stuff I have given to Charity for one reason or another, there’s something good stuff out there.

Who else is a “thrifty” shopper?

International Day of Charity

Today is the International Day of Charity.

What are the things you think of when you think Charity?

  • Others
  • Money
  • Donations
  • Donating
  • Help
  • Helpfulness
  • Time

I think a lot of people when they hear “Charity” they usual hear ‘spend money on someone you will probably never met’. However there are ways to do Charity without spending either any money or very little!

Good question!…Mystery Lady

  1. We all know (well I assume we all know) that you can donate clothes, furniture etc to a wide variety of Charities and apart from maybe the gas to get to the stores, it doesn’t cost you a thing!
  2. Spare change? Consider putting some of it into one of the tubs of the people standing/sitting all day for their cause.
  3. Consider a clothes or book swap, with your friends, family, co-workers as well, or community. You can bake and even raise money that way bake and swap!
  4. It seems that every cancer has a charity for it. With each charity comes a “theme” night/day. Consider wearing jean for genes day, A lot of charities here, in Australia, and a lot of the women’s charities. They will movie nights, make up nights etc.

Do you have any suggestions?

You know after all these “celebrities” this week having all these squabbles on social media and then a couple of hours later proclaim how we should be all be “united” … I am extremely happy to see a ‘celebrity’ actually doing something useful and helpful this week.
