Children’s Book Week … Australia <3

What a fun way to wake up this morning! I went onto Facebook this morning and I saw so many pictures of nephews and nieces and friends kids all dressed up for Book Week!

Book Week 2021 runs from 21-27 August and this year asks your children to embrace the theme “Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds”. This year award-winning author, illustrator and film-maker Shaun Tan has illustrated the CBCA Book Week 2021 theme.

CBCA BOOK WEEK 2021

Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children’s authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians create colourful displays, develop activities, run competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. You will often see parades with students dressed as their favourite book character.

I would love to know if other countries do the same thing, or something similar. Do you have a week in your country where Children’s reading really has a focus?

I also apoligise for my quietness over the weekend. I was really ill, not COVID ill, just your general illness, lol

Yesterday (Sunday the 19th of August) started off the Children’s Book Council of Australia … Children’s Book Week … Bit of a mouth-full … and it’s held every third week in August.

The CBCA brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Children’s Book Week. During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children’s literature.

Each year has a theme and the theme for this year is “Escape to Everywhere”
