Well, if she had lived…She would have been 120 today…Sooooooooo…The chances of her still being alive, are pretty nil.
However, the Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov was burn 120 years ago today.
A lot of us today are completely fascinated by this family. The Myths, the reality, the stories … They have to be one of the most fascinating Royal Families in History. They were around for such a long time and then it fell so quickly. With that the stories and Myths came and have never really been out of our collective conscious.
Did Anastasia escape? (They’re pretty sure she didn’t’)
Would the Heir apparent, Alexei Nikolaevich, Tsarevich, even have survived to Rule?
Did you know? In actual fact, Russians have never ever said ‘Huzzah!
This weekend in some states in Australia has been a nice long weekend. Which if you follow me on ym Instagram, you’ll know I spent most of it doing nothing, and it was glorious! I had to finish off some homework, but that was all that HAD to get done.
So why the long weekend?
Well this is the weekend that we celebrate Queen’s Elizabeth birthday.
So Happy Birthday Your Majesty. Her actually birthday is the 21 April 1926. However a lot of the Commonwealth celebrate her birthday during the Summer in the UK. You might see some news about “Colouring the Troops” Which is the UK Military saying Happy Birthday to the Queen. The tradition of the British monarch celebrating two birthdays stems back to 1748, during the reign of King George II. As the king’s birthday fell in late autumn, the weather wasn’t suitable for a large, public celebration in honour of his birthday.
But Lauren, you said Two Queens.
Yes, yes I did.
Today is also and always has been officially this Queens birthday too.
This is my “baby brother” Hahahaha…Although, for a long time now, there has been nothing “baby” about him. Can’t you see you the family resemblance. And how many other big sisters can say that they are at the height of their brothers boobs! Hahahaha.
Although he is the Golden Prince, and was spoilt something rotten. I am really proud of him. I would never tell him this, but I don’t want him to come back to our state. I believe he only started to “grow up” when he left our state. I think he would flounder if he ever came back here.
It’s April 1st and I am hoping passed midday for a lot of you, but April 1st means it’s the first day of my birthday month!
I’m still allowed to do this, right? Like I don’t have kids yet. So I get to have a whole month, right? Even if it’s me, haha.
This week, what I’m starting to do is a music challenge for the month of April =D It’s supposed to be a daily challenge, but my weekend is quiet full this week. So apart from today, this rest will be posted on the Sunday.
Day 1: A song you like with a colour in the title.
Brown Eyed Girl – Van Morrison … Let’s get this long weekend started!
My first post for 2021! I wanted to start 2021 with a complete positive post! What is more positive than wishing a very celebrated and beloved author a happy birthday.
If Tolkien was still alive, he would have been 129…Probably not very probable then.
I have always loved Middle Earth and Tolkiens world, more than any other world. Including Arthurian! I really love the Arthurian world, I want to name (if I have a) my daughter Morgana. I don’t think I could name a girl Arwen or Eowyn, she’d get bullied I actually would prefer Arwen, but sensibility wise, it has to be Morgana. You know…Duhhh…
Tolkien created a magical powerful world, all down to the little details, and Tolkien NEVER went with popular fan theories unlike some authors *coughs* Rowling *coughs*. Tolkien’s work was original. Yes, the eagles annoy everyone, but one, read the books, and two, read the books.
In Australia, it’s #BeatrixPotter birthday today…What is your favourite Beatrix Potter character? If it is Peter Rabbit (lol) whose your next favourite? I once played Mrs Tittlemouse for a ballet concert =D When I was little, I used to be obsessed with the Beatrix Potter ballet movie. Just like The Red Shoes, it was kind of scary and I wonder why my parents let me watch it,lol. You have the Owl kidnap Squirrel Nutkin, take his tail, and gives him a wink as he leaves. Than Mr Fox, steals Jemima Puddle-Duck egg, to eat and tries to eat her as well, and Mister Jeremy Fisher, almost gets eaten alive by fish, lol.
I was just thinking for my birthday, that I might actually try to “Twitch” that night. My birthday is the 29th of April, so it’s Wednesday, kind of annoying…Not that I can actually go anywhere, lol.
Possibly, the weekend after my birthday I am heading to my Mums and taking some of our favourite pizza and doing birthday things. So we can both drink and neither of us have to drive. I’ve got someone who can take me back. The weekend before I am having a Disney night with my partner, because we’re the only ones who can. It would just be nice to do something on my birthday, and this would definitely be different. The weekends might swap though, lol. Usually my mum and I go out to dinner for my b’day, but we can’t this year, obviously.
So, what is Twitch?
Twitch is probably the world’s leading live streaming platform for gamer’s.
The main “Plan”
So my plan is just to basically, more than likely, use my Sims game as what I would be twitching with. That way you could all watch me play the Sims, and you don’t have to do a thing! With Twitch, you can watch and chat, like text messaging. You can eat and drink, while celebrating with me!
Since I don’t have children, I totally get a whole birthday month…Right?
What a bad time of year to have a birthday right now.
I honestly don’t know what to do with myself at this time of the year, at the moment. My birthday isn’t until the end of the month. Usually I have all these plans, including blogging plans. There’s just been so much going on! I don’t know if I’ll even be able to celebrate my birthday with just small family. Everyone wants us to have a house warming, which probably wont happen until…sometime, lol.
My Grandmama (who would hit me over the head for calling her that, lol). Is turning…Well a lady never tells of another ladies age. It’s an important number though. Her baby brother is even coming all the way from the UK. He has never been here before! It’s a pretty big deal!
I had one idea of buying her a necklace with the birth stone of her parents and her children. As my own brother mentioned though. It might make her depressed at such a “late stage”. So I have been going back and forth between it. One day I’ll think it’s a sweet idea, but she has been “losing it” a little lately >.< She’s supposed to be the most mentally sound of all of us. I think one day it’ll make her happy and then another it’ll just make her depressed.
One thing I have already bought her is a collection of Oscar Wilde stories. My Gran was a Librarian and she has always loved books. She’s got such a big book case! I’m always borrowing books from her. She also really loves Ravens, they are her “animal”. Like Lions, Wolves and Owls are mine…and her mothers. I have only been able to find one “thing” of a Raven, that’s actually nice and hasn’t got all death surrounding it.
I still like the idea of the birthstone, and the family tree. This where you all come in. Also, if you want to add any ideas to my Discord channel, please free too! I have added a channel “craftamake” Where people can share ideas and ask for Craft ideas.
Many Australians say that this should be our new anthem, and I agree!
You’ll come a Waltzing Matilda with me
Now I’m going to with an Australian Indigenous persons quote (to Australia). I haven’t been able to find if it comes from a story. It just seems to be a proverb that they say. It’s a beautiful one I think.
This recipe includes two Australian favourite desserts. One I have to yet to try myself, but it’s going to happen, lol
Fairy bread is usually done just on bread. So it’s (normally white) bread, but you can do this on any bread. You spread butter on the bread and then just putting a lot of hundreds and thousands, it’s really simple. Really tasty.
Preheat oven to 120C/100C fan forced. Draw a 20cm circle on each of 2 sheets of baking paper. Turn each sheet, marked side down, onto a baking tray.
Use electric beaters with a whisk attachment to whisk egg whites and cream of tartar in a clean, dry bowl until firm peaks form. Gradually add sugar, 1 tbs at a time, beating constantly until sugar dissolves and mixture is thick and glossy. Beat in vanilla.
Divide meringue among marked circles. Use a palette knife to spread, shape and rough up the sides. Bake, swapping trays halfway through cooking, for 2 hours or until meringues are crisp and dry. Turn the oven off. Leave the meringues in the oven, with the door closed, to cool completely.
Meanwhile, remove icing and trim dark edges from cake. Carefully cut cake in half horizontally. Cut each cake layer in half lengthways, then into 2cm-wide pieces. Place 3/4 cup hundreds and thousands in a bowl. Place the icing sugar in a separate bowl and add the butter. Pour boiling water over the butter and stir until melted and smooth. Using a fork, dip a piece of cake in the icing to coat. Tap fork on side of bowl to remove excess. Carefully roll in hundreds and thousands, patting to coat. Place on a wire rack. Repeat to coat remaining cake pieces. Set aside for 30 minutes to set.
Line a baking tray with baking paper. Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on Medium, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and smooth. Spread the top of each meringue disc with a little melted chocolate. Sprinkle some of the remaining hundreds and thousands around the edge. Spread remaining melted chocolate over the lined tray to make a thin sheet. Place wooden spoon handles or rolling pins under the baking paper so the chocolate will set in waves. Sprinkle with the remaining hundreds and thousands. Set aside for 20 minutes to set.
Use electric beaters to beat the thickened cream and double cream in a bowl until firm peaks form. Spoon a third of the cream into a separate bowl and add a little pink food colouring. Stir gently until the cream is a pale pink. Add the pink cream to the remaining whipped cream and fold a few times to create a swirled effect. Spoon into a piping bag fitted with a fluted nozzle.
Pipe half the cream on top of 1 pavlova. Arrange half the fairy bread lamingtons on top. Carefully place the remaining pavlova on top. Pipe the remaining cream over to decorate. Top with the remaining fairy bread lamingtons. Break the white chocolate shard into a few large pieces and decorate the top. Sprinkle with freeze-dried strawberries.
