Thursday Theories – Hot Topic! Beliefs!

I am going there people!

I mainly was inspired to write this, because I was retweet an atheist friend who wanted to know why do other atheists thinks Christianity is such a popular religion. It got me thinking.

See, I am not an atheist and I am not religious, I’m agnostic. So generally I don’t believe there’s a “God” persay, but I do believe in spirits and ghosts, and guardians. Not all Guardians are human too, just so you know, hehe.

It did make me think why is Christianity so popular? Too me it’s not really a hard question to answer. I know one religious family that have sent myself and my gay family members bibles with bible quotes. We normally take pity on them. A few years ago, the father of that family had a complete break down thinking his mother, my mum and myself were going to “Hell” because we do Tarot and Reiki, etc.

So, in a way, we pity them.

I would still though the other 97% of Christians I know, are good people too. In my mind, Religion, like everything else in this world is extremely powerful, when in the right hands, for good. It is also powerfully destructive, when in the wrong hands of extremists.

For me as well, not for a single second would I call a right wing republican a “Christian”. There’s nothing there for me anyway, to say that they are Christian. I was saying yesterday to people who kept saying that Kate Forbes is left wing and she’s progressive, she they must be too. That’s not how it works. Kate Forbes was in the running for FM in Scotland, she didn’t win, thank goodness. Well done to Scotland again, for Humza Yousaf, by the way. Just because Forbes was in a progressive party, doesn’t make her progressive or left wing. Her views were literally being celebrated by likes of Nigel Farage.

Nigel Farage is pretty much the God of Brexit, it was all his doing. Yes, Brexit, the biggest disaster to hit the UK in a long time. I include COVID in this.

Claiming to be something, doesn’t make you that. It’s like these people have never heard of “Your actions speak louder than words” before. Calling yourself, left, right and center, doesn’t make you left, right or center, your actions and what you support does.

Monday Magic Thankyous

This is one for more of my religious readers.

I want to say thank you, for being who you are. For embracing the LGB and Trans community. I don’t really actually know many people in my personal life who hate, or are anti-LGBT. I’ve seen a lot of people who call themselves “holy” though, and do hate them. And for women like me. I absolutely hate it.

I hate it when women use women as a shield for their bigotry. It’s so ‘punching down’, like why do they think we’ll take it?

I cant begin to tell you, how it brings people so much relief to hear religious people support any LGBT_ letter. It give me faith again, in faith!lol

Rude (haha)

I don’t know if I told you all about this, I think that I did. I have an Aunt, who means well, but she does not approve of homosexuality or that I stand with trans people. She’s…Catholic? I can’t remember which one honestly. When she doesn’t approve of something, she sends you a Bible with a little message about how she reads this book when she lost.

Recently, she sent one to me. Because of my trying to help trans people. I laughed at the time, and still do. I just got peeved with one little quote.

It went something along the lines of. It doesn’t matter how much kindness you give, how much you may help others. Without God, it’s all pointless.

Basically, even if you manage to bring world peace. If you don’t believe in God, it’s worthless?

I’m sorry, I don’t have an issue with Religion. But that is totally bullshit.

I Believe …

I was inspired to write this post, after the continual complaints of TERFS, Maya Forstater case says I can believe what I want. What they always seem to fail to remember, is that the Judge ALSO said that you can believe whatever you want, you’re just not allowed to harm people because of those beliefs.

You can’t control what people believe and think anyway…and to a extent.

You can believe that you (as a white person) are superior to POC, you just can’t harm and discriminate against them, because you believe that.

You can believe that (for some odd reason) Jewish people control the worlds money and everything else too, you just can’t harm and discriminate against them, because you believe that.

You can believe that being gay is a Sin, you just can’t harm and discriminate against them, because you believe that.

belief/bɪˈliːf/noun

  1. 1.an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof.”his belief in extraterrestrial life”
  2. 2.trust, faith, or confidence in (someone or something).

The point of my post today though, is to write about some of the “crazy” ‘beliefs’.

  • I don’t believe Trump is smart to organise a coup, but I think he knew about it.
  • I believe that whether or not it is fate, but I believe that Trump was meant to be President, to teach America and the rest of us lessons. Some people have chosen not educate themselves, but I do believe he was “fated” to be there…I’ll write a post about that later ~.^
  • I believe that you should all be into yourselves.
  • I believe that if were more “into ourselves” we wouldn’t have “reality stars” like the KuwtK
  • I do believe in spirits and souls, something other than just our bodies.

THE MODERN ATHEIST…? — Here’s A Thing…

New Atheism appeared to offer moral clarity, it emphasized intellectual honesty and it embraced scientific truths about the nature and workings of reality. It gave me immense hope to know that in a world overflowing with irrationality, there were clear-thinking individuals with sizable public platforms willing to stand up for what’s right and true — […]

THE MODERN ATHEIST…? — Here’s A Thing…

Goes to show really that not having a belief, or not being Religious. Doesn’t make you automatically a good person. If you’re a good person, you are a good person. End of story.

Protected Beliefs

What with the Maya Forstater case recently, what a better time to explain what “protected belief” means and what it does not mean.

Layman wise it’s means you can believe whatever you want. Also layman wise, it also means you CANNOT harass, discriminate and be violent towards others.

So you can believe there is a man who lives in the moon.

You can have a religious belief.

You can believe that Unicorns truly do exist.

You can “believe” that white people are better than POC.

You can believe that the earth is flat.

You can believe that wearing a mask is restricting your speech.

This is all protected.

What is not protected, is harassing, demeaning, degrading and being violent towards other people who don’t believe in what you believe in. Just like others can’t do that towards you and what you believe in.

It’s been interesting to see TERFs and Gender Criticals bragging how MF “won”. All she won was the opportunity to appeal at the employment tribunal. Which she would probably still lose anyway, it’ll be interesting to see if she goes for it. She also “won” the confirmation that what she thinks IS a belief. I really wish the main stream media, would be a bit smarter than this. But then again, we are talking about main stream media.

I don’t get it…

This will be the last time I mention Israel Folau…What a twit that guy is!

What annoys me the most though, is this…I don’t get how they (his supporters) just do not get it? They’re sitting there saying things like the LGBT want to be accepted, but that wont accept us, they’re the hypocrites. How do they NOT get that this is the attitude that is turning people away from the Church, not with it?

You can’t say to someone you’re going to the worst place my lifestyle (no one is born religious) will allow. Then turn around and say “Hypocrite, how dare you not accept our hatred of you?” The LGBT are NOT the hypocrites, you cannot say hateful things to one group of people and then expect them to stand there and say “I accept you” When you don’t accept that group.

I’ve had to say to numerous people like that we don’t hate religion, God or Jesus. We hate bigots like them.

You put out hate, guess what you get back. I do not understand some Christians and their absolute obsession with others people’s bedrooms and their private lives. How they say the LGBT community is trying to dictate…No, they’re not. They just want to live, to be left in peace. It’s Christians who are trying to dictate how people live. People they’ve never met, people they don’t know.

Here’s Our Questions for This Week’s SYW:

What Is Your Favorite Beverage?  (for those who really dislike “favorite” questions, hey, time to time, one just pops in and will not be denied).

I go through phases where I’ll like and be almost obsessed with drinking just the one type of beverage. At the moment it’s Lemon, Lime and Bitters. I think it’s because it’s definitely (too me) a fun Spring type drink.

What Is Your Interpretation of ‘The Golden Rule”?  Are there ramifications to breaking it?

I believe that the “Golden Rule” means ultimately what you think of “how you treat others” is.  Do you believe in Karma, do you believe to treats others how you’d want to be treated, or does it not matter to you? I recently wrote a blog post about Karma and how you shouldn’t expect Karma to go the way you want.

Sunrise person or sunset person?

I am both…Although I have only seen the sunrise, maybe once or twice in my whole life. It’s funny because since I’ve had my anxiety attack I hate seeing the sun gone down now. I feel better when the sun is up.

Do people in modern society anthropomorphize animals too much?

I think we do, but I also think that it can’t be helped. Some of the videos on YouTube, they seem SO like us. I think it’s what gets animals into trouble as well though. Naive ones amongst us forget that they are animals. Even the pet dog and cat, they are still animals. With a whole bunch of different instincts and feelings.

and finally

What Were You Grateful For During the Past Week?

I’m grateful for all the sane people in my life, lol

Complete this sentence:  This sandwich could really use some …

fresh bread…lol…This was the first thing I thought of. Usually after you’ve that first sandwich, the rest of the pieces of bread start to go hard. You might get a couple of fresh slices and then that’s it,lol

What is your least favorite candy?

Anything that has “aniseed” flavoring in it. Oh dear god, it is gross! In all the years, as my taste buds have changed, it still is icky and yucky to this day!

What sign are you? Do you believe in astrology?

I am a Taurus ( I’ve had my Birthday already)

Too an extent I believe in my Astrology signs. I don’t really pay attention to the day to day Horoscopes, usually because they are so general. However, I’ve had my chart read into the different houses and those I will listen too. I’m actually planning on go to a Fair this weekend to re-center myself. I do believe in the generalized personalities, that’s because most of the other people I know who are Taurus. We are the same in some ways (even if they don’t want to admit it). The biggest trait is that we are stubborn, and we are. I’m a quiet person but if I believe in something or get an idea in my head, it’s hard to stop me. We are all HUGE procrastination stubborn Bulls!lol…Once we get going, you can’t stop us…Hence, the Bull, i think?

6 Things only a Taurus would Understand.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

I’m not sure if “laughing” at someone is the same thing? I can always guarantee though any time my Dad says he’s coming down, he doesn’t. Then I get a torrent of abusive text messages saying how I never go visit him (he lives over an hour away…by car…and I don’t drive, and he knew all this before he moved up there). It just makes me laugh, as he did it again today, it’s a joke in my family now. We’re all texting each other right now. How he can’t see that this is just more proof of how little he is there for us, I don’t know what else to tell you! The only different between now and when I was a teenager, we’d have to hear it from our Mum that he wasn’t coming, and no abusive text messages, but I am sure he just sent them to my Mum instead.

I may or may not be coming on social media today, as I expect the abuse any moment now.

I can appreciate it though, because it does make me laugh these days. I can appreciate alcohol much better and how I have to “watch it” when it come to myself.
