St George Day

(I’m English and I love Anne Stokes)

St George’s Day in England remembers St George, England’s patron saint. The anniversary of his death, which is on April 23, is seen as England’s national day. According to legend, he was a soldier in the Roman army who killed a dragon and saved a princess.

Complete this sentence: I want to learn more about …

I would love to just keep learning in general. I love to learn. If we get specific though, I would love to learn more about all these ancient cultures that I am completely fascinated with.

On a vacation what you would require in any place that you sleep?

Mainly that it just be tidy and clean. Nothing worse that hopping into a bed that has dirty sheets. Also that it’s not too cold or too hot. I kind of struggle when it comes to sleeping in places that I’m not familiar with.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I am actually about to buy my greatest extravagance, it’s of a Harley Quinn figurine with her “Hyena”…Yes, hyena…Wrapping their leashes around her leg, while she’s trying to shop. I just need to organise my taxes, but I should have enough to buy it.

If you’re in Australia, find it here: Batman: The Animated Series – Harley Quinn Harley’s Holiday 10” Statue

If you’re in America, find it here: Batman: The Animated Series – Harley Quinn Harley’s Holiday 10” Statue

Before that though, there was a drawing that I commissioned a few years ago (see below) and I have been in love with it ever since. At the time it wasn’t expensive because they were first finding their feet. Too me though it was a extravagance because it was a drawing of me. Surrounded by a lot of “fantasy life” type things. I had never really asked someone to draw me in any way whatsoever. Please press the links for of the Anthea’s work,

What inspired you this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

I guess what’s inspired me this week was my Dad going into hospital and having heart surgery, it’s definitely made me want to be more healthy. It’s not just about living forever, it’s also about living well. So you don’t have to go to hospital.

Why I really like Beyonce

Other than the obvious, that she is just WAY cooler than I ever will be,lol

I just love her art and how she expresses herself. I know that she gets a lot of slack for how she sometimes her portray herself…But I love it! You take the 2017 Grammy Awards and how she got a lot of flack because some people were asking “Does she think she’s a God” … Clearly Beyonce doesn’t think she’s a “God” It’s called creativity you dingle berries Do you ask Pablo Picasso “Does he think he’s a cube?”

Too me Beyonce is just a Queen of Creativity, everything she does is creative and not the set standard creativity either. She does things out of the box…Which is why I love Beyonce, I love waiting to see what she’ll do next!

Should children be seen and not heard?

My mum always takes pride in the fact that myself and my brother were well behaved children. We knew our inside voices, we knew how to behave in restaurants etc. It sounds like though she might have just been very lucky. So I’m not 100% sure, there are some terrors out there. Wooo, what a sensitive subject! I don’t want to answer, lol

Coffee Tables Create the Illusion of Animals in Water

Artist Derek Pearce creates unique tables that look like animals are emerging from water. Please take a look, these are incredible. The tables are made from glass, plastic and resin. The glass is used as the water, and I have to say it has been beautifully shaped!

What is your favorite piece of art? (it doesn’t have to be famous)

Monet

Monet is probably my favourite artist of all time and pretty much for sentimental reasons really. When I was little I thought for a long time that Monet, was in fact, my great grandfather. Monet looked a lot like my Great-Grandfather. There was this book called “Linnea in Monets Garden” and I could have sworn that Linnea was myself, lol. I would love to own this painting.

What made you smile today?

Well I am actually writing this on the Tuesday and it was having a heart-to-heart with my boyfriend that day and clearing things up and becoming closer and getting to know each other more. Today though this will be posted on Thursday after completely my first week of work, I have no doubt that I am happy right now.

A Girl and her Dog

This isn’t really a “Quote” of the week type thing, but I just thought that these posts were too much of a win. I recently purchased this picture A Girl and her Dog, drawn by The art of Tim Shumate and I just loved it.
