World Lion Day

Lions have always been my favourite wild type animals, ever since I watched the “Lion King”. I just loved the idea of having a Pride and having a strong father type like Mufasa. I am SO excited for the “live action” film, no one can play Mufasa like James Earl Jones can!

Last year I actually bought this bracelet and it’s one of my favourite bracelets, the colour is just so gorgeous! Please look up the “Original Sahara Bracelets”. They give a percentage of the sales to conservation work, I don’t believe that it’s specifically for Lions, it’s just towards the African Wildlife Foundation in general.

I LOVE the blue colouring in this bracelet.

I actually have another bracelets like this but the other one I found in a cheap type store and it also has a Buddha face on it. I might edit this post later, if I think if it’s appropriate.

In just two days from now as well it will be World Elephant Day (please press the link to pledge) I will be writing about that too this weekend. I love Elephants, they are so utterly gorgeous and I’ve never really seen an “evil” elephant. I’ve seen a lot of angry ones, but that’s usually because us Humans have done something.

I feel like I have been fortunate to be able to watch this live Ustream/YouTube feed that I am obsessed with called Safari Live” I have learnt even MORE from this wonderful program about all sorts of wonderful animals from Africa. Prey and Predator.

Safari Live come to a television near you!…Well in the US of A

January 1st my American friends will be able to watch the Safari Live right own their own television via Nat Geo Wild. Looks like 2017 is starting off on a great note! Well for my American friends anyway. I can’t recommend watching this enough! I’ll still be able to watch via Ustream and YouTube…But the Americans will be able to watch it n tv. (I’ll probably write a post on January 1st again).

#WorldLionDay

I did not realise that today was #WorldLionDay! World Lion Day August 10

Lions are probably my most favourite animals and I think that they are just magnificent! I don’t know what it is about Lions, I think it might be because they are one of the few social cats that hang together in Prides and Collations. Yet, they are huge and strong, and you see them play with their cubs, so teeny tiny and how gentle they are…Especially the Lionesses!…Except of course when a Male collation takes over.

Some teeny tiny paws for you to enjoy ❤

I love all animals…Except for maggots…Eww! NOTHING on this earth will make me love them.

Lions are just a special animal for me. I feel though we owe all these endangered animals our help, from elephants to the black-eyed leaf Frog. We need to do something, it’s not their fault they should not be punished because of our stupidity and cruelty.

Live Web Feeds

As many of you probably know I am a big fan of Wild Earths/Ustream web feed of Wild Earth Safari Live…Pretty much I think sometimes I borderline on the obsession. Anyways because people are aware I watch these I’ve started to realise that there are so many other feeds through Ustream that I watch and I very rarely mention these other ones.

Sea Eagles – Australia

Currently this Ustream channel is filmed in Sydney Australia and it follows two parent Sea Eagles raising their young. This particular hatching season, they have managed to, so far,  successfully hatch two baby chicklets and know you can just watch them feed and eventually start to learn to fly.

Owl Channel – America

Here you can watch wild Barn Owls (Tyto alba) in live 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They roost and nest in an owl box we call the Hideout. We have a camera inside the Hideout as well as cameras outside to see them come and go.

Explore – Brook Falls

Watching exclusive live footage from Alaska’s Brooks River in Katmai National Park. Every year over a hundred Brown Bears descend on a mile long stretch of Brooks River to feast on the largest Sockeye Salmon run in the world.
ALSO though through this particular Ustream feed, you are also able to view other cameras through the website explore.org/ . You can look up feeds on Puffins, Panda and Walruses…Just to name a few!

Conservation Work

As you would probably expect watching a live safari drive web live (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/wildearth-safaris) the conversation about conservation comes up. How much money it costs to run a conservation park, why can’t we all win the lottery. I hate that I have all these ideas and yet I don’t have the skills or the knowledge, or the backing to set something up. Especially when it comes to conservation work, I think animals deserve to be here more a lot more than we do.

#ideasworthspreading

  • One idea is to make plushies, mainly of endangered animals and each plushie that is purchased you give the money to conservation.
  • Making fantasy type jewellery with all of the African wildlife on it.
