  1. The same practice was mentioned in some passages in the old testament, so it probably pre-dated the Romans. If they were making some kind of pledge or oath, they supposedly had to have their testicles in the grasp of the person they were pledging themselves to, as a kind of symbol of complete vulnerability.
    It’s weird and dumb but I kinda love it too. It should totally be resurrected in the modern day for men who are accused of serious sexual misconduct. If they’re going to deny it, at least have the guts to do so while their testicles are in someone’s grasp (either the woman accusing them, or she could nominate someone to do the job). Now that would make things interesting, Lol.
