I feel really lucky and yet feel horrible for saying that I am so happy to be an Australian and not an American today…I have forbidden the topic of the whole political situation right now. I can’t vote, so I feel completely hopeless and helpless, that I can ‘t vote. However, I saw this very beautifully written speech by Dan Rather (Wikipedia) and I had to share it. I am going to say though I don’t think it’s something I want to deal with anymore, it’s so toxic for me. It doesnt help that I can’t even vote!

There are a lot of immigrants/expatriates living here who can’t vote either. Our helplessness is ten times as palpable. We can only watch, wait, and hope Americans vote responsibly and exercise good sense and judement.
