RIP Harambe

I am going to start by saying I am not going to start “bashing” the parents, nor am I going to start bashing the Zoo and the keepers for the choices they made.

I will say this IS however a tragedy.

I’ve been thinking about this tragedy for the last couple of days instead of having a knee-jerk reaction or start talking about “Well, Gorilla’s do this”…I LOVE animals, even the really freaky ones…But we don’t know them, they do unusual and extraordinary things all the time. It’d be great to have them out in the wild, twenty four seven, but that’s not realistic, some Zoo’s have great breeding and conservation programs.

Yes, some Zoo’s are horrible, because lets face it, something run by human beings is not going to go 100% perfect all the time. Once we as humans can stop endangering animals then they can be safe running around where and when ever they want too. What are all these people who say Zoos should be shut down going to do with the animals if the Zoo’s are shut down? Are they going to take them in? I doubt it.

  1. My issue with the whole situation is that they didn’t need to kill Harambe. If they were going to shoot they could have used a tranquilizer. And it really didn’t look they needed to shoot at all, he was protecting the little boy and fixed his clothes. This has happened before at another zoo and they didn’t shoot that time.
