Over the weekend I read a post on Facebook and it went something like this “JK Rowling shuts down a major Harry Potter fan theory (radio times)” The comments were pretty much about how stupid people could believe this and so on and so forth.
As I was reading this and I saw the other articles relating to how all these theories were being disapproved (and so on and so forth) it started to really bug me.
I am a big believer in the magic of books, if people want to believe that Draco Malfoy is some secret werewolf, then they are entitled to believe that. I am really starting to dislike all these authors coming out and saying “Well no, this is right, this is wrong” and watching others call other ‘stupid’ for going against it. When did a world of magic have to become so real?
If you want to believe that Draco Malfoy is secretly a werewolf and Harry Potters son got into the house of Slytherin…GO FOR IT! #UseYourImagination!!!
Really!
It’s a story based on imagination.
So why not imagine whatever us fans want to?

I used to get annoyed when people read too much into a story. But now, I think that people should do exactly that! Is that not why we read instead of watching something on TV? The point of a good book is to let the imagination run wild, anyone who shuts down theories based on the story is forgetting the point! Great post!

Thank you! I was just getting so annoyed with the article and watching all the people saying “Well of course, your’re stupid if you didn’t realise he wasn’t a werewolf”…Why are they stupid? Because the author said so…You have to feel sorry for them, cause they clearly have no imagination, hehe

LOL! I agree with you they completely lack imagination! I read an article by a die hard HP fan who thought the books are actually a story about a boy who is suffering from depression. I thought that theory was brilliant because this person explained in depth, drawing quotes from the books, the links between the story and someone suffering from a mental disorder. I thought that it was incredible that someone could find such a link and see a different level in a story that was already written in such an imaginative way! If someone forms their own ideas around a story then that just says the author created something that inspires another – there are way worse things that could come out of it in my opinion!
